I disagree completely, I am so sick of people assuming that the older you are the more mature you are. In some cases it is true, but there are plenty of twenty or so years olds I have met through this game who are the most childish people I have ever met, whereas there are some players whom I've known since they were Nine or Ten who are the nicest, maturist players ever.

 

 

 

Very true. There are two types of maturities. Physical and psychological. Many people get them confused and think that just because you are 10 years old then that means you can't be psychologically mature. Your body and your brain might not be mature, but your actions still can be. And your actions tell a lot more about yourself than physical appearance, so why should someone be judged by the less important aspects of themselves?

 

 

 

I've ran into some of the most immature adults on the internet, and I've also met some mature kids. It's unfair to the kids who really are mature to filter them out.

Very much so, recently I had(I think) been filtered by someone and when I tried to trade with the(they were asking for a law rune). So I had stopped what I was doing, spent about a minute waiting for them and they were ignoring me!

It seems to be more for their protection than to actually stop them being immature...Specifically it stops them giving out their address.

 

 

 

 

 

Personally I have never used the ignore button, I find it much easier to read what is written and have a laugh if it is silly.

 

For people who won't leave me alone, well the simple answer is to stop responding. At the very max you have an hour of them annoying you before they lose interest, but usually they get very irrate before the end and will say something which you can report them for, solving all the problems of everyone who they annoy.

Just some problems with that....

 

 

 

1. You can not always tell people's age by their behaviour. I have three 10-year-olds in my list, who actually act beyond their age. I've also seen many older players acting like complete idiots, obnoxious and annoying.

 

 

 

2. "Very annoying kids who have really bad grammer"? Excuse me while I vomit! The mere fact that you think that is the case proves your unability to think rationally, thus showing your immaturity. Have you ever considered there's a lot of people playing who have English as a second or third language? I am one of those, and my English may be near perfect, but I cannot say that for many others, and it's not their fault. Would you be one of those arrogant snobs going into a Dutch world and commenting on people that only speak Dutch? Despicable!

 

 

 

3. Your solution would be age discrimination and have younger players be accompanied by a parent? Do you even know how ignorant that sounds? It is utterly shameful that you would even suggest every 14-year-old needs a parent holding their hand while they play. Shame on you!

While I have nothing against you for being annoyed, I don't think this is at all necessary.

 

 

 

1.)The only way I can think of proving you rage, other than showing them your birth certificate, is photographing a picture of a driver's license, or something of the sort. It'd be hard to be a legit system.

 

 

 

2.)It may not be like this for everyone, but it's not that hard to ignore someone. While I don't get loads of people running after me asking for this or ranting about that, I do get ragged on from time to time, and it doesn't get under my skin at all. Woohoo, you're a higher level or woohoo, you have better armor. I'm not the [bleep]ing idiot going around to random people trying to look cool.

 

 

 

3.)How do you know that the people annoying you are under 18? I've met some [bleep]ing annoying adults who go around on video games trying to flaunt themselves in a very idiotic way. The problem with having to show some form of id, would be that it would cause some parents and young adults to become skeptical about identity theft; but I don't really know much about the process of identity theft, so dont quote me.

Possibly change the title? just kidding of course, it doesn't mean much at all. Now then, I certainly am not an idiot and I started Runescape at the age of 9. Obviously, I faked the age limit. (Which was then 13+, no exceptions.)

 

 

 

The problem with your idea is that the only ID you could use is one received at 18. (Or a driver's licence etc.)plus how would Jagex get a database of all IDs in existence? It's well-near impossible. Showing a picture of ID is also a bad idea, what if you don't have a digital camera? Or another disability that prevents you from taking a picture?

 

 

 

If there was a filter, it would have to be built upon a rating system by other players. Now I know there's a problem, someone could vent their anger by demoting someone's rating. Therefore, there'd have to a limit about rating.

 

 

 

One last point: Age by behaviour is the most ridiculous idea I have ever set eyes on. Look at me and 6 of my friends, we're underage, have been underage for years, and yet we contribute positively to Runescape. We're not braggarts, we're not annoying, we don't beg, EVER. And then take a look at an adult I know in real life, who is on my ignore list for being the most annoying person in existence. Go figure.

One of the most entertaining RS discussions I've ever had was with a 14 yr old about an immature 30 yr old that we both knew.

Although I'm not 18 yet, I have noticed how a lot of the players (especially newer players, do 13+ year olds even start this game anymore??) having attitude problems. But it's fun when I give them a pure set, then they start treating me like a god, but then they start begging more, and I put them on my ignore list :

Jagex does censor them in a way. People admitting that they're under 13 can only use QuickChat. I think this is unjustice, although it's easy to avoid.

I'm not sure what's worse - the fact that you think that younger players spoil the game, or the fact that you're probably likely to be caught by Barbarica's own filtering methods. Although, in your defense, the latter would be rather funny.
