Best gem droppers?

I'm in the long, painstaking process of collecting 16k emeralds, and I'm wondering if there are any monsters besides goraks that regularly drop gems. I'm alternating killing goraks and thieving the wall safes in the rogues den, and was wondering if anyone knows of other monsters that I could hunt for gems, as killing them is getting annoying. Since mining gem rocks is far inferior to thieving wall safes as far as speed, I'm only interested in wall safes & killing monsters for getting them.

Any suggestions?

With your range level you could kill Tzharrs....the level 149s in Karamja volcano

1) Your range level is decent enough to be quick

2) They drop uncut gems a lot, however, not as good as goraks.

3) They drop onyx bolt tips, so if yu spent the cash from those (7.8k each), you would get you emeralds very quickly.

Or, as someone mentioned above, just do avainsies or some other money making for a few hours and buy them.

If your after then for crafting stop right there. Making jewelery is terrible exp and will bore the hell out of you after about 200 emeralds.

The best monsters I have found so far are the bandos statue things from The Chosen Commander. I went there after I completed the quest, and had to leave within 10 mins because my inventory was full of gems. They don't hit much either. The only downside is you have to use the teleport sphere things that you have to buy in Dorgesh-Kaan. These cost 2 laws and 1 molten glass, which is a bit of a hassle if you don't have a lot of molten glass.

So far, best place i've found for gems.

goraks are wonderfull for gems... also, why dont u just collect all gems emerald nd better and sell those to buy new emeralds

of example: with 2 uncut diamond, u can buy 13emeralds. it will speed up whole the proces

That's what I'm doing. Keeping sapphires and emeralds to craft with, and selling the rest to buy more emeralds. I am, however, using my crystal keys instead of selling them (selling the dragonstones, of course). Because I enjoy opening the crystal chest

re: the gem rocks - I'm 88 mining. With a charged glory I 2 hit them just about every time. The problem is that it's diffficult to get non-Shilo gems from them. Trust me, wall safes are MUCH faster for getting gems. I average a gem every 30 seconds or so there. Without all of the annoyance that comes with cutting & fletching all the Shilo gems into bolt tips (or dropping them).

do never keep the sapphire gems!!! they are a waste of time since they give no good xp at all!

No. Even with level 8190374891237 they'll still be slow. (Always 1 hit)

I hear the stone ourgs, gobs and stuff from the chosen commander quest are pretty decent gem droppers :D

DON'T go to tzhaars, I have been there for a while out of sheer boredom and I barely get one gem every 10-15 kills. Stone monsters are far better money.

If you're going for Crafting xp, I'd reccomend selling all the gems and buying silver ore (or bars?) and making tiaras, but I won't argue with your methods.

Wall safes aren't that bad for gems, and neither are Shilo rocks, but the rocks are usually crowded and the safes normally give more coins than gems. Your best bet is stone monsters. You can also get there through Fairy Ring code B L Q and entering the box.

...Why not cut all the gems you get instead of only doing emeralds?

Shilo is still good for craft xp because you can cut all the gems you get. If you get more shilo gems, it doesn't matter because you're still getting craft xp.

Or if you tan d'hides just to make money and then buy emeralds.

I'm going to be smelting 16k gold ores for my next smithing level, and would like to craft the bars into jewelry instead of just crafting plain bracelets. The cost per XP of cutting the rubies and diamonds before selling is higher than selling them uncut to buy uncut emeralds. It's far more economical, and will yield far more XP for the time spent gathering them to get emeralds instead. Sapphires would be even more economical time-wise, but the cash return from alching is far lower with sapphires.

I may try those statue thingies. It says they drop cut gems a lot, but they are probably far quicker to kill than goraks.
