WolfieMario Posted May 31, 2009 Share Posted May 31, 2009 I must say that these updates are a bit... light. The spam filter and Hp bar update really were not needed in any way shape or form. The dungeon maps are useful, particularly for new players, but the fact that some are not up yet slightly mars the update. Furthermore, those garish up and down arrows on my mini-map are driving me nuts. This was not what I had in mind when I first heard upgrade year. True, the HP bar change wasn't necessary, but it helps nonetheless. Truly, none of Jagex's graphical updates are "needed", as they don't improve one's ability to play the game, but they greatly improve it's appeal. How many new players would RS be getting nowadays, when graphical quality of games is constantly rising, if it still used RS Classic's graphics? And the spam filter is a major convenience to skillers, so I don't know why you think it's unnecessary. Truth be told, updates, in general, are never necessary to make the game playable, but they make the game better and more enjoyable nonetheless. I'm hoping you meant a different word, because I fail to see the logic behind rating updates based on necessity. I guess it does slightly lessen the update's quality because not all the maps are there, but, if they only released the update once the whole thing was done, we may not have seen the dungeon maps until the middle of this summer :o RuneScape really is a huge place to set up maps for the whole thing, so I think it's best that they resolved it by doing it piece-by-piece. But I agree 100% about the arrows. I haven't played much since the update, but... Seriously?! :shock: There's absolutely no improvement in them, they just waste space. I think it's good that clicking them on the world map links you through dungeons, but there's no need to advertise the fact. A simple highlighting of the icon when your cursor passes over it would be much better, or perhaps an arrow pointing up or down appears only when you hover over the icon (if it's that important to know which direction it leads) Fake Awards:(The large number is the amount of awards I have gotten; only 8 are shown above. Rien Posted May 31, 2009 Share Posted May 31, 2009 * The Fight Arena quest has been significantly improved.We need access to cutscenes from quests we've previously completed (perhaps something like the Temple Knights' Commorb). I'm sure General Khazard's been graphically updated and the quest may provide a bit more information concerning the Mahjarrat. :| Has anyone not completed the quest yet? He finally fits in with the more recent look of the Mahjarrat. Only a matter of time before Hazeel Cult and Hazeel get updated. ;) Normal General Khazard Khazard during the fight of Fight Arena Yea I really want to do this quest again after seeing General Khazard grow into a giant and using his 2h sword like a short sword. His torso and skull are all big and buffed, but then you go below the belt and... it's like looking at a little kid. If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased.The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? I feel like I'm playing in some cheesy game now with the way the character moves and the shiny and rounded interface. I really don't know what to say, I'm just unhappy with all the unneeded updates they're making that makes their game look way too "kid"-ish, you can call it. 99 Hits, Attack, Strength, Defence, Mage, Summoning, Slayer, Ranged, 96/99 Prayer Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sure I enjoy them, but I play runescape because it has the best game play for a mmorpg around, not for the graphics. Runescape has always been and always will be know for AMAZING gameplay. Personally, I always play with the lowest graphics settings available, because I want performance and minimal lag. When I take a screenshot, depending on what it may be, I would probably switch to the highest graphics available, but I normally play low detail anyways. I always liked RS for the gameplay, quests, story, skills, etc... Regardless, I think it's good market for Jagex to keep updating graphics, sound, etc., because more people will be interested in a more professional looking game, and more people are getting better computers to handle such improvements. I have a friend (who's actually a TipIter, btw) who refused to start playing RS simply because he didn't like the graphics. The graphics never stopped me from playing, but for some people it does. Me and a couple other friends managed to convince him to play anyways, and he got addicted right away, and stopped complaining about the graphics (this was before HD came out). He now maintains that he could never play RS again if they got rid of HD, but I'm pretty sure he still would regardless. There are many people in the world like that, so absorbed in the superficiality of something that they assume it's only good if it looks good.
