I think the rest-option was taken a bit too seriously. I don't think it will have that big affection in game.

I don't think rest is such a big deal..But the 2nd article was better than the 1st one. By the way, this is my first post ever. :) I just registered but have been using Rune Tips for over a year.

That weapon speed fact was interesting.

Good tipit times i think, although the two non-fiction articles on rest could have been joined into one long feature article, was a good read.

Big thanks to Stevepole for the signature!^

Brace yourselves guys... I actually enjoyed all of the articles this week!! :-o

First article:

A very mature appraisal of the update system and the unique survivability of MMORPGs. Well written too. Good job.

Pillow Talk:

Very informative, and once again well written. Perhaps a little heavy for those of us looking for lighter reading, but I enjoyed it so I'll applaud it! I don't think we need worry about auto-ers though, Jagex are taking an extremely hardline approach to macros, and difficulties in RWT should hopefully prevent any influx of rule breakers. That said, I'd imagine it's possible to deliberately transfer large sums with the new pk worlds...

Kingdom Collapse:

This one made me chuckle. It was well written for the most part, but I loved the little bits like "For nearly six minutes it was chaos". Oddly specific and perfectly timed for the fantasy world of Runescape! :-)

Fact: Very interesting one, frankly I'm a little surprised Jagex haven't experimented with much faster, but low hitting weapons too. Or hugely accurate ones, with a low max hit... Any thoughts?

Still reading through, but I noticed an error in the first article.

Constant change keeps the game fresh, making new habits form, and adding flexibility to the game? Is this a bad thing.

The question mark and period are at the end of the wrong sentences. Just noticed that and thought I should point it out.

Fixed the mistake. Also if another mistake is found, whether this article or another in the future, please PM me instead of posting on this topic, which is open for discussion. Thank you.

Sorry, I wasn't sure, as there isn't anywhere that says where to submit corrections (as far as I know).

As for the articles themselves, I'm not so sure that I see the relation between fatigue and the new rest feature -- it felt a bit too much like a stretch to me.

I wish Pillow Talk could've been longer.

Thats what she said.

On a serious note, very enjoyable articles. xD

"Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world."

Okay, so I laughed.

On topic: if the highest weapon speed is 10, could someone tell me what the Abyssal Whip speed is? I thought this was quite an interesting read, I've always been curious about understanding how RSC worked.

Abyssal whip is 4, Godsword is 3, Dharok's Axe is 2, and I think that the fastest (darts) is 7.

Great articles.

Change is necessary for an MMORPG to grow.

Personally, I love the run update.

It makes me hate training Agility a little less.

Abyssal Whip is 4? I'm not sure if that's a little slow or a little fast?

So I'm guessing a DDS is about 5 then?

Abyssal whip is 4, Godsword is 3, Dharok's Axe is 2, and I think that the fastest (darts) is 7.

according to wikia

abyssal whip's speed - 6 , so it attacks every 2.4 seconds (6 sec - 0,6xspeed)

GodSword - 4 , so it attacks every 3.6 seconds

Dharok's Axe - 3 , every 4.2 seconds

and the darts is indeed 7 , so it attacks every 1.8 seconds

Thanks, I was going by memory, and mine isn't the best. I only got one right; too bad.

Think of how much fun (and unbalanced) a weapon with a speed of 10 would be (server crashes due to an infinite loop, maybe?)

According to Jagex's KB, and they use a graphic scale:

Whips are 6

Daggers are 6

Claws are 6

Godswords are 4

Dharok's Axes are 3

2-Handed Swords are 3

You know Jagex has a speed chart in the Manual also a Scimmy has the same speed as a dagger.

um .. I said the same thing ... and obv. wikia uses an already existing info ... they have the same scales + an explanation what is the attack speed (prolly copied too)

Wikia/Wikipedia isn't always a reliable source. It even says on the front page, "The wiki...that anyone can edit!" Just backing what you said up with a credible source.

I feel that rest really isn't a big deal. In most cases, it is only marginally faster than just walking while your energy recovers. The only exception might be for low level agility and musicians.

But, nonetheless, all the articles were very well done, though I felt they were a bit on the short side.

I also want to comment on The Scale Never Settles. Yes, MMORPGs thrive on change, but I feel that Jagex can only do so much- they've backed themselves into a corner. Whereas WoW and other games can simply release and expansion, Jagex can never go beyond 99. In fact, most improvements have only increased the amount and efficiency of getting exp.

If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system.

Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased.

The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."

The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?
