The Godfather is a timeless classic that people will like in 100yrs. How can it be loosing! LOTR is a good movie in the special effects department as for plot or storyline.....NOPE

Come on God Father!

Damn LOTR and it's winning ways...Game over. This contest didn't end as it should have.

Well the voting has ended and LOTR wins. I'm actually quite surprised at it!

Anyway I will leave up the previous replies and will keep this as a sticky for a while.

To Knightlite: If you want to make a final pic of the rounds, I will edit it into the main topic if you want?

Funny seeing as the LOTR series is a classic fantasy novel that's been around longer than the Godfather :P

Half the rounds didn't end the way they should've, but hey... can't beat flashy effects and trival bs over everything else which makes a good movie now days - too many people are suckers for the "wow" factor

I'll defend the win, I watched it again today and I still get the same feeling I get every time I see it. Imo it is the best movie I have ever seen.

I think tipit is the ONLY place that a "best movie ever" topic can produce the results such as the ones we have lol

Ah, well. Lord of the Rings won it, it's not that much of a disgrace, you can have far worse movies up there. Of course you can have a lot of way better movies up there as well.

Thanks for all the time and work you have put in this competition Phil! worshippy.gif

I don't see what all the fuss is about. Sure, i voted for the Godfather but LOTR really isn't that bad. In fact it's a fantastic film, just not the best. I just wish everyone wouldn't jump on the *bash the LOTR film because it's recent* bandwagon. It really was a great film, just maybe not the best.

Thanks for all the hard-work on this topic Phil, it's been greeeeaaaatttt! :D

Most people aren't on such a bandwagon. In fact, there are probably twice as many people who are on the "vote the LOTR film because it's recent, and I've seen it" bandwagon.

Go have your little tantrum somewhere else. Yeah LOTR's won, and i may not agree with it. But its still a good film. So just because the movie you wanted to win didn't dosn't mean you can go bashing a great film.

Well done LOTR i think it deserves it.

In retrospect I think the problem here was that we had "greatest film ever" and not several "greatest film of x genre" topics. It's like saying that the Bible is better than Brave New World: sure, both are fiction, both are dystopias, but one is sci-fi, the other fantasy.

(Sorry, a joke in bad taste on my part, there).

i dont think people should be mad about rotk winning. we long ago decided this competition wouldnt judge the greatest movie ever, just the most liked movie from the people on this board. its all in good fun, lighten up a bit :D

Which is it? You don't agree, but then you do agree...You contradict yourself in the space of like 2 lines.

he says he wanted another movie to win

but lotr was good and probably deserved it

and because of this i saw pulp fiction(which i might have already seen WTF?)

and schindler's list ^_^

Weird and pointless stuff

What the hell are you talking about tantrum?

From the sounds of things you're having a bigger cry about me pointing out the obvious truth

I said i MAY not agree.

Im trying to say that in my opinion LOTR is a great film and is totally equiped with what it takes to be the greatest movie ever. Hell, it must of done something right if it won a load of grammy awards.

But to me im into the comedy genre more than LOTR style.

And darkrick your not pointing out any obvious truth so dont flatter yourself.

Yea, believe the Oscars, that's the way to go. NOT. The Oscars are corrupted and not to be seen as evidence to back your opinion. I think Titanic is the ultimate example. You're just defending Lord of the RIngs because you're from New Zeeland. :P

And I'd like to add that Lord of the Rings is an okay movie with good visuals, but far from the best movie ever made.

i really hated LOTR ROTK.

I feel asleep half way through both times i tried to watch it.

The Godfather was way better imo. Way better acting. Storyline was better than LOTR.

Hahaha ROTK sucks so much compared to Shawshank.

That's garbage.

Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.

godfather, every time :)
