Doom, what were the PP values for all the ships in your system?

I propose that we multiply all of Doom's stations by 5 (in PP production and price) and make that kind of station the only kind of station. That would make it so that the PP matches up with the modules, but it would keep it simple.

Fighter=1

Escort=5

Battleship=10

Heavy=100

Super=1000

Ultra=2000

Those are the most important ships.

I agree that we should only have one type of station, it makes it so much easier.

How about we take out the module idea and just use a standardised PP system, or we could do it the old way.

How many minutes/hours until the aliens attack?

Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.

The reason why the module system is there is otherwise we might as well standardise ships, ignore weapons and shield research and just make this game about who has the most PP.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

I think we should multiply the stations by 5 and the ship costs approximately by 10. The module system may be getting a bit complicated. If we were to implement it, I suggest that you have a power rating, a reload rating, and a cost. That would make it simpler.

The reload time doesn't make too much sense. Can we just make it so that it would be like:

Name:

Power Rating:

Energy Usage:

Range: (Long, medium, short) (Long would be comparitively weaker, but there might be some sort of advantage)

PP cost:

---------------------

Power could be related to the reload time. For example:

Steel burn rate: 2 inches

Reload 20 seconds

Steel burn rate: 3 inches

Reload 20 seconds

Would both have a power rating of 60

I would say the combat dynamic is fairly simple:

Battle starts

All weapons are fired

Reloaded weapons are fired

Reloaded weapons are fired

Reloaded weapons are fired

Reloaded weapons are fired

Reloaded weapons are fired

Reloaded weapons are fired

Reloaded weapons are fired

Reloaded weapons are fired

Reloaded weapons are fired

Reloaded weapons are fired

Reloaded weapons are fired

Ad infintum.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

If we had weapons that reloaded every half a second, you'd have to go through every half a second of the battle. Might not be convienient for you.

It might be very slightly inconvient for me to change 1 figure in a spreadsheet.

Added to that no weapon should have a reload time of less than a second.

I had a great idea for the range. Using long, medium, and short...

When the battle first starts, only long range weapons can be used. If one ship is moving towards the other, and the other is staying still, it takes about 4 space combat turns to get into medium range weapons. If they are both moving towards each other, it's 2 turns. If one is moving away from the other, while the other is chasing, then it could depend on their speeds. If the chasing one is faster than the running one, it'll take 6 turns to catch up, while if it is slower, it'll never catch up.

This would give a point to long range weapons.

That would work.

Good idea except that no one except me is around during combat.

Change the system back to the old way.

Orz deploy 'Random ultra weapon' and all ships die.

The point is that last time the space battle took ages and people were unhappy with the results. We can go back to that if you like, but the stratagy element of the game goes completely out the window.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Well it could be simplified to fleets. For example:

Fleet A is retreating and Fleet B is attacking. Then you could just calculate it based on that.

Also Doom couldn't have her unique ships because they would be unbalancing. So there would only be Battleships, Heavy Battleships, Super Heavy Battleships, Ultra Heavy Battleships and Sa Matra Class.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

I reveal 5 Sa Matra ships from 5 different universes near the Urk Orz fleet!

Ok I have an idea.

This is simpler than modules, but it still adds some strategy.

Each country's ships are different.

Here's how it works:

Each ship has five categories:

Weapon Power:

Speed:

Armor:

Shielding:

Weapon Range:

To add a point to a category it costs 1pp. Of course there can be other modifiers added on later, but for example a basic battleship would have 10 points to spend, so it could be:

Weapon Power:XXXXX

Speed:X

Armor:XXX

Weapon Range:X

Shielding:

Meaning it has highish power, decent armor, and is pretty slow, with low range.

An Ultra Battleship would have 2000 points to spend, for example:

Weapon Power: 1200X

Speed: 200X

Armor: 500X

Shielding: 80x

Weapon Range (Max of 20 except for special ships): 20x

flobotst.jpg

Hegemony-Spain

Seems reasonable. But there would need to be some conversion from weapons into armour, otherwise 1 ship could destroy a copy of itself in one shot. Which would mean both ships would blow each other up.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Maybe all ships start with a certain amount of health, equal to their point value, then armor adds percentage of damage absorbed.

So a ultra would have 2,000 health. With 1500 armor it would absorb 75% of damage. So another ship with 2000 damage will only do 25% damage to the other ship's health, 500 damage per shot. Make sense?

EDIT: and we assume ships fire at the same time, so that was small ships can do damage to big ships, even if the damage amount is tiny.

EDIT: did the math, assuming Norway did space production in an identical way to me, they would give me 22 space production stations, and a nice amount of ships.

flobotst.jpg

Hegemony-Spain

Since Norway wasn't posting all those different space production things, I don't think we can assume it. It just overcomplicates things.

What if ships have more than one weapon system or special systems, like my Hephaestus Nanohosts

2Xeo5.png

Well then you could use both of them in my system with the ranges.

Say you have one long range and one med range.

If you moved into med range, you could use both weapons. :thumbsup:

So, are we kind of thinking like the pokemon battle system, with each ship having a set of stats and then primary, secondary, tertiary, utility etc. Weapons?

That actually seems like a good idea to me.
