@Archi - How much longer until the Urk-Orz fleet reaches Recea Decimus? I haven't heard much about defense there, so I don't know if its worth risking my fleet.

The sour dough of the epitmous pie hungers for another's sweet lips to be dulled into a state of most irreverant humbleness

With ten years until Second Life goes public, every major city will receive a Life Extension Centre. The Life Extension Centres will be controlled by a government-sponsored body called Haven. All LECs will be built under-ground in a reinforced bunker to prevent the people who are in SR from being disturbed by any catastrophes on the surface (bad weather, etc).

Haven is also designing ships that will basically be mobile LECs, which can be sent into deep space. These ships vary from personal ships that carry one person, or ships that can hold thousands of people. There are no definite uses for these ships so far, but Haven states that these mobile LECs can be used as an alternative to prison colonies. These ships will also be able to receive software updates from long distances, if needed.

The Britannian Pharmaceutical Company is doing joint-research with Kamino.

Cities continue to be developed on Kajea and Britanniae.

Defences continue to be set up in Kajea.

Mining barges in Ema Quartus have been ordered to withdraw and fall back to Kajea. Mining will still continue, but it will be in Kajea.

In other news, the Royal Space Inn has opened above Britanniae. This luxury hotel offers gilded furniture, comfortable beds, gourmet food, a nice view of Britanniae from space (the view can be opened or closed via shutters, and many other luxuries.

They already have. The attack is being calculated. I have a feeling I will be hated.

I have a question. What's a plausible method that we could use in order to shut down the Heavy Space Portal in order to prevent Orz from coming back through it? We need some kind of method in order to trap the Orz that are already in our zone so that we could crush them.

Build a Rainbow World nearby. Create a Quasi-Space Portal inside the Heavy Space Portal...Detonate a planeteering bomb inside the portal...Thats pretty much it off the top of my head....Open a blackhole near by... build a massive laser and shoot it constantly at the portal....it won't shut it down but it should stop anything bar the mirror of forever coming though.

Would an unstable black hole be enough to seal it shut?

Nope, can't find the other link. Basically they are indestructable planets which confuse sensors and repair space-time. Anti-Matter stops them working.

You can't build them(Well you can but only with a real life year of research and then a few star systems of matter) however there is a chance you will discover one if you discover a free standing planet with a probe. Very small chance though,

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Some music for your pleasure:(Recommend you stop listening at 2 minutes 20 seconds)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJG6mNfo6zc

And pretty much what this post is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTteYVTvEO8

Sinabo attack:

Having crept ever closer to the planet of Maekoes for the past few days the Urk-Orz fleet finally begin their push to conquer the planet.(sorry for the delay earlier I was getting prepared) The Malyasian fleet engaged them quickly but not decisively with both sides trading devestating blows.

The inital attack went to the long reach weapons of the Maylasian Fleet and over 200 ships were destroyed. But then the Urk-Orz launched their cannon based weapons, smashing the strange matter armour with devestating speed. The rain of shots destroyed the entire Multi-Purpose wing of the Maylsian fleet as well as over 70 Super Battleships!

With their feathers truely ruffled the Maylasian Fleet ordered fighters to destroy the Urk-Orz at all costs and so 6,000 Fighters engaged the 1,789 remaining ships with extreme vengence, destroying approximately 1,200 of their ships, whilst only losing 2,000 fighters. But then the tables turned yet again as thousands of Urk-Orz Marines erupted out of the ships, which were left without a crew. Estimates put the figure at close to 50,000 marines, all of whom either threw themselves at the fighters, killing the pilot and taking control of the ship or just heading straight for the main fleet.

As thousands of Marines impacted on the Strange Matter sheaths the instruments onboard grew red and then there was the scrap of bulkheads being blown open and it was then that the first Urk-Orz was seen. The fish like being in an exo-suit which had eight legs, all of them plunged into the walls, cellings and floor of the ship. The central hub contained the fish itself as well as numerous rockets, lasers and mass driver weapons, effectively a one man army, which proceeded to tear apart the rest of fleet. Reports show that the goal keeper defences were ineffective against the marines for two reasons, the first was their speed, the second was the sheer weight of numbers, as many as a thousand were shot down, but this was more due to it being impossible to miss hitting something! As the bombardment continued the Malysian ships were set upon by the Terran Federation in a ditch attempt to kill as many Urk-Orz as possible...but alas it was in vain. The entire Malysian fleet was destroyed, and the Terran Federation fleet was damage in the engagement as the remaining Urk-Orz Marines attacked.

When the dust finally settled it was clear that the Urk-Orz had been destroyed but at a cost of:

Malaysia:

6,000 Fighters

3 Ajax Class Ships

90 Super Battle Ships

2 Praetorian Carriers

115 Mutli-purpose Ships

Terran Federation:

5,000 Fighters

20 Battleships

1 Heavy Battleship

The only recompence avalible was the 564 abandoned Urk-Orz ships left floating about 100,000 km from Maekoes. Who will claim them is anyone's guess.

Alpha Centuri:

Initially it looked like the Urk-Orz were not willing to attack the combined might of the Brazillian and Terran fleets but then they did.

Brazilian ships fired with ferouis rapidity, but against such a hoard of ships the shots had little effect, destroying only fifty or so ships before the Urk-Orz could open fire. When they did space was so thick with missiles that it was impossible to see what was happening and at first observes thought that they had lost the Brazilian fleet....but then they realised the Brazilian fleet had been lost. However the Fighters, having been launched earlier had survived and proceeded to attack the Urk-Orz, feeling confident that the attack would succeed with their 104 to 1 advantage and the weak hulls of the Urk-Orz ships.

The Marines appeared in greater numbers, around 80,000 this time, leading us to assume that each ship holds 100 Urk-Orz, since these ships stayed active afterwards! With almost as many Marines as fighters the Marines quickly overwhelmed the shocked figher pilots and the 23,000 strong force turned its attention on the Terran(I will use Terran and Germanic interchangably, sorry about that) Space fleet, which had been stationed slighter further away, preparing to engage in the long drawn out battles that we have come to expect. Thus were almost caught offguard and if it hadn't been for the iron will of the Germanic people they too might have perished without causing major damage.

The 12,000 fighters engaged the stronger force, destroying 6,000 of them and causing the Urk-Orz to abandon 3,000 more, but the displaced Urk-Orz took the Terran Fighters, leaving their force as close to 15,000 still! But then a master stroke as the Terran Federation self destructed thier fighters, killing another 1,000. It was then that the remaining Urk-Orz ships began to move towards the Terran Fleet. The Terran Fleet though were a tougher cookie to crack, engaging at a larger distance than the Brazilian, and with more firepower to boot. Just under six hundred of the Urk-Orz ships were destroyed, leaving only 363 to deal with the SECOND firing of the Terran Fleet, which decimated the Urk-Orz fleet.

Fighting the Marines was proving another matter entirely though. A cunning plan of using pressure suits to create their own marines backfired as the fighters simply used the open airlocks to dock and then to attack the ship internally! As the Urk-Orz spread, fighers being abandoned and marines charging down onto the ships exo-skeloten, another cunning plan was devised and electric cables were welded to the hull, and connected to the generators. As the energy pumped around the ship there was the sound of exploded Urk-Orz as the pressurised exo-suits malfunctioned. With less than a hundred left it was decided to self destruct the ship they were on as they already proved themselves far more than capable of handling the defensive staff of the Terran ships.

Casualties:

Brazil:

Terran:

3 Super Battleships

54 Carriers

12,000 Fighters

Reccea Demicus:

The Urk-Orz were unpleasantly suprised by the charging attack of the Caravels, which was followed up with the Licht fleet, almost patch work in quality. The two Capital class Caravels began engaging the fleet from behind the missile screen of the Fighter Classes, destroying four of the ships before any reaction could be made. This was, however, the end of the the Caravel's winning streak. The Urk-Orz pushed foward, throwing all their weight into a frontal assult. The Licht crew stood poised to fire the Fighter Classes anti-missile shield...the shiny red button almost pulsing the 'Push me' vibe into the air. Then the light turned green and the button was pushed.

The seventy two thousand light beams surged forward, incinerating nothing, the light beams glancing painlessly off the ceramic blue hull. Three second later the buttons turned green again. Another seventy two thousand light beams bounced harmlessly off the ceramic hull. The two Capital Class Caravels fired again, destroying another four Urk-Orz ships, but now they were almost on top of them. The Licht aboard began to panic and began jabbing the big red buttons, pressing and pressing! One of the Caravels gave an involuntary judder and then....Exploded.

The explosive force of the Strange Matter generator was magnifed though the lasers into one massive burst of laser power, incinerating the Urk-Orz fleet, the other Caravels, the Licht Space Fleet which had been 'guarding the rear' before finally turning inwardly, sucking all the matter into a massive strange matter vortex, before exploding it outwards. The fates were smiling though as the burst missed all the major planets, as well as the star. Instead forming(over the next three years) into two new strange matter rings around two of the planets in the Reccea Demicus system. The two rings are around (for some reason the dice like them) Nu Host and Erikio.

Casualties:

Licht:

48 Fighter Class Caravels

2 Capital Class Caravels

Whatever the space fleet was

(For some reason Mather's ship wasn't sent to engage the invaders so was not destroyed. <_< )

Anyway thats that. Now for some other info:

Urk-Orz Nemesis

Overall PP of 100

Weapons 20%

Shields 40%

Speed 10%

Armour 20%

Range 10%

There are some exo-suits floating around in Alpha Centuri, researching them will take 3 years to get some basic info about them and 25 years to recreate them.

There are some Nemesis' floating around in Sinabo, researching them will take 5 years to get some basic info and 7 years to learn how to replicate them. The technology used on them can be researched and you can bulk up or bulk down your own ships with the tech. As a free peice of info the ships have no atomsphere inside.

The exo-suits have a combat modifier of 1,000. Effectively you would need to blow up part of your ship to kill one of these guys, or throw serious numbers of troops at him.

Dead Urk-Orz are avalible for research in Sinabo and Alpha Centuri, researching them will take 2 years to get some basic info and 40 years to recreate anything(Say you wanted to splice the gene for being able to breath ethanol...for some reason  )

The actual number of ships made up for them being terribly crap. Also the actual engagements only lasted about 5 minutes.

The Caravels will periodically go wrong unless you happen to be Ross or someone else with an AI. My people were extensively trained on how not to blow themselves up. Researching the Caravel's working system will take 5 years and carries a 20% chance of blowing up.

Oh, all battles took place a fair distance away from the planets themselves, so stations were not involved. Partly because they weren't and partly because I don't have stats(so go figure).

Strange Matter Rings make warping inside the Reccea Demicus system even more dangerous(As if exploding wasn't bad enough you now can now create a ship shaped explosion of strange matter)

Reason why the Caravels blew up was A) because Retech had a powerful space fleet(Whats up with that!(Joke), A) To stop Dusty from accusing me of creating a race that only I could beat(Joke) simply because Retech rolled a 7 out of 20. (Also, Retech does your race have lungs and gills?)

Anyway, no systems were lost except Sephar. Which, apparently, had no defenders. Four thousand Urk-Orz ships were destroyed, 400,000 Urk-Orz died(Which is suprisingly not that many(If I am totally honest my intital plan was to have 1,000 Marines per ship, but then I found out that was game wrecking so I limited it to 100)

Egads I am calling back all of my fleets and creating several more carriers. War-time production is going back on and the daedalus cannon should be ready for defense. Several super carriers are being sent to the sinabo system to collect ships and tech. I am starting to mine the major volcanic world in the eresu system (precious metals... ). Also archi did the hit and run type of attack work?

Also archi did the hit and run type of attack work?

Not really. Their fleet is too big and too defendable(they have rotating cannons). Plus the battle lasted all of 5 minutes so hit and run never really had a chance...more just hit and die.

So can anything be done with these strange matter rings?

Course, you can harvest them, put them into pods to create anti-warp zones, or just use them as a holiday destination or something

The Orz look disturbingly cute.

Egads! Not another one! The Orz are scary they are not cute!

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Hmmmm....would I be able to modify the exo-suits to add on to my existing one's? That means it would only take 11 years to complete research, as I spent about 14 upgrading my current. If I can't, nevermind, I'll just do it like you put.

Prism lasers-4/10

Hopefully these lasers will give me an advantage against he Urk-Orz, since I can effectively make a laser barrier across the fleet if they are distracted.

Can't see why not. But you will have to get hold of one first.

OK. A ship is going out there now to get a sample.

Mather, every point you put for those costs one PP. You can make a weapon with a million power for weapon, but it would cost a million PP for it. So your fighters are going to be much more expensive than the standard fighter. Also, your cloaking costs 50 PP each ship I believe.

But you cannot put PP costs on my smaller wessels as those are produced in specialized shipwrights on a time based rate, not by work costs. And X-302s and later wessels wil of course be built by PP once I have my orbital construction stations up and running.

Wait... that was actually a good name for them OCSs, Orbital Construction Stations.

The transport effect of EM-beams have now been understood, the strenght decides distance to the object being beamed, the frequency decides which X, Y and Z axis(with the emmiter as 0,0,0 or origin) the object is to be rematerialized at. It is now being attempted to make a program capable of holographicly showing a map with those axises, accept inputs containing of three 1-10 numbers(including desimals) and translate them into coordinates which it then calibrates the emmiter to use.

The Heisenburgh Uncertainity priciple is just rubbish, it claims you cannot know where all parts of something are because of times effect and that you cannot use an exact ammount of photons in the form of light because it would have to be contained and released at a set time and then gravity would alter time slightly(although gravity altering time is true, it is not to such an extent(Einstein's theory)).

I have a question. What's a plausible method that we could use in order to shut down the Heavy Space Portal in order to prevent Orz from coming back through it? We need some kind of method in order to trap the Orz that are already in our zone so that we could crush them.

EM is the solution; use an EM-field generated by several ships to condence/tear appart all matter inside and in the vincinity of the portal thus making it into a black/white hole.

New Erikio has quickly been upgraded into a full scale military base. Massive underground tunnels snake through the continental shelf and deeper into the sea crust. The majority of Lichtes citizens live here, sheltered from infectious viruses and invading aliens by the limitless fortifications and defences. This is a major Iridium monopole mining base. Deep within the tunnels, the worst of society (over 200 million) trudge down into the mines to get as much Iridium ion as they can.
