Thing is that is my exact weapon and I asked for permission to make it (and I got it) but I do believe there's a wikipedia page/article on it...

...found it, but it is short and incorrect, the StarGate wiki is however mentioned as a see also in the Ronon Dex(owner of the first gun of that kind seen) so it is recognized as a valid source by wikipedia.

Let him have his gun, but it would require an insane amount of power to shoot anything at the speed of light, never mind recoil.

The PM shoots at the speed of a D.Eagle(large caliber handgun) not the spped of light, the PEP90 however shoots that fast but it fires a laser so slowing it down would drain power.

*shrug* The article stated it shot at the speed of light when I read it last.

I don't really think it matters...Since it will only count as a hand gun in the calculation.

Like shooting a magnum at a tank.

The point for boarding is that what is the roll probabilities?

According to the system thing, it said 90% to take over, which is why I designed most of my ships as boarding ships.

The only difference between a disagreement between friends, an argument between strangers, and a feud between enemies is the ability to reconcile.

More like big magasined, long-barreled Desert Eagle(big, big rounds).

Boarding weapons have a 90% chance of taking over a ship, a 10% chance of losing the ship and a 25% chance of both ships blowing up. (Each are rolled seperately, so you could take the other ship, they could take yours and you could both blow up)

That was before Doom and Dusty started installing anti-boarding systems. Now it is based on ground combat scores. I think. Its fairly ridiculous because the system has become much more complicated.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Doom and Dusty, don't you see that anti-boarding systems make no sense? It won't help you against the Urk Orz, since they will defeat your troops.

--------------------

Anyways, can you tell me if I can keep the same system against the Urk-Orz. With Doom and Dusty's system, you're underpowering boarding.

Yeah you can board Urk-Orz ships, but mostly they will give up their ships and invade yours instead....effectively you will trade ships.

Well the way I'm boarding, I'm using the special note of my Whale Class Ultra Battleship and sending in fighters to latch on to their battleships. They'd at most get my fighters, which are... rather pathetic. :)

I think that it should remain 90% boarding chance for everyone, or I'll have to add a powerful note about how water splashes into the ship and increases the combat modifier. :)

Our ships aren't filled with ethanol, though. They would have to all have plenty of ethanol in their exosuits (assuming they all even have a suit) in order to survive on our ships. I also assume that they can deplete their ethanol supply (just like we can use up our oxygen), causing them to suffocate. I'm further assuming that people don't have any submachine gun turrets scattered throughout their ships, preventing boarding.

Well gun turrets can be "assumed for everyone", but then I'd just add the note that my boarding ships are so filled with water that it floods the entire ships and gives a 1000% modifer for my people. :)

Urk-Orz all wear suits, since they would die instantly outside of them due to the nature of our universe.

Their Ethanol supply is recycled indefinately using electrolysis.

Submachine guns probably wouldn't do massive amounts of damage against the Urk-Orz Exosuits.

What if someone boards the ship (wearing a bio-suit) and opens up your air locks?

Well according to the official boarding system, the chances are my people would all wash out the ship. :)

Of course, I'm not going to go down this train of thought unless Archi confirms a system so I can actually design my ships based on it.

Actually, all of my sace craft are carefully outfitted with precisely placed AA guns to prevent this very thing (as well as ship to ship bombing). Yay for planning ahead!

Everyone can have turrets, but since everyone has some, we should just ignore them. Boarding should be the way it was. We ignore a lot of realistic things in this game, and boarding should be the way it was to keep it balanced. It's about game balance.

On the interior?

I'm imagining an AA turret to be the big guns that are used on this:

Boarding doesn't take place ship to ship. This isn't old pirate tactics of swinging from the masts on ropes to board the enemy ship, we're using transports to do it. Like rowboats.

My ships have been designed to prevent or at the very least hinder enemy boarders from the very beginning.

Well I'm doing ship to ship, but my ships aren't that big. :)

-----------------------

Well my ships are designed to prevent them from being blown up, but they can be blown up. Just because it seems more plausible to prevent boarding than to prevent total incineration, this is really stupid as to reduce boarding from a viable option to an option no one would ever use, because it can be "easily prevented".

In other news, I am developing a biological weapon that is used in the case that people ignore the existing system and add "boarding defences" which make boarding unfeasible. In essense, it would make it like the old system, since all the crew would be dead (the biological weapon is incredibly concentrated, and would kill almost instantly, but dissapates easily), so I just have to deal with it like the original system, without the defences.

How does a bioweapon work that way? I don't think it does.
