buzz_knight
Hi, Buzz_knight is the name.. and runescape was the game. I stopped playing months ago due to being hacked numerous times even with every security measure taken i could.. Now my question is or the advice i would like to receive, is it worth coming back? in terms of has the community improved? the updates not quite so boring? etc Many thanks, Buzz_knight

buzz_knight
I don't think f2p and p2p are comparable.. If I went f2p I'd have to spend ages clearing out my bank..
Master_Smither
Recently our updates have been very bugged causing some people to lose a lot of money. However, I suggest getting one month of members and trying it out it because we should be getting some good new quests and possibly items soon. Tafkan
Not much has changed about updates, really, except they tend to be a bit rarer now. There's also a lot more whiners ready to criticize any update that Jagex dares to release. Can't list any really major changes since you left though, "a few months" is pretty vague. Obtaurian
I wouldn't recommend it. You'd probably get hacked a few more times. I'm curious as to what the "numerous security measures" were. Giving your password to your best friend in the event that you forgot it? To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

(a few months could be anything between 2 and 10) http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. Thanks! cookie1762
If your that skeptical about playing then just do as the above posters said and buy one month and see how you like it. Personally, I think the updates have been great lately, but thats just me. http://sign.tip.it/1/6/24/304/lady_scm.png Drops/Clue Finds:Shield left half: 1,Dragon plateskirt: 1, Warrior's Helm: 1, Obsidian Cape: 1, Robin Hood Hat: 1, Dragon Platelegs: 1, Dragon Boots: 4, Amulet of Ranging:
Lunar_Drifter
You're really going to get mixed responses. Some people have liked the updates and will readily tell you how good the updates were. On the other hand, some will have not liked them or even hated them and readily tell you to not come back. But in the middle, I'd give you the advice of trying it yourself and seeing, as seems the most frequented advice in this thread. Retired Tip.It Mod || Admin and Founder of Caesar 3 Mod Squad! buzz_knight
Ok, maybe "a few" is vague.. 6 months to be precise.. I wouldn't recommend it. You'd probably get hacked a few more times. I'm curious as to what the "numerous security measures" were. Giving your password to your best friend in the event that you forgot it? Let me answer your curiousness... , but first i do hope "giving your password to your best friend" was pure sarcasm. I had a 20 character alphanumerical password that NOBODY knew par myself, (i am on my way to a degree in computer science.. so i do have some idea..) I don't download anything dodgy, or go on any dodgy sites.. yes i have a firewall.. yes I have anti virus.. yes I do anti malware scans etc etc etc etc... Oh just to top it, i did change my password.. but i noticed one of the questions is something along the lines one of your recent password changes.. so I did 10 changes so that my old one would be less likely to found, my security questions all had extra letter/numbers assigned in locations in the answers which again only I knew. Erm,, no i don't use a public computer.. no-one else has access to my computer. Oh and since januaryish i have reformatted my hard drives and changed it around with few new ones I had laying about. I can't think of anything else currently which you could be curious to... i'd like to know

You've just been itching to tell us all your outrageous security measures since your first post. Obviously you're attacking the problem at the tail end instead of cutting it off at the head. Either that or you're just trolling. I'm thinking the first option. Retired Tip.It Mod || Admin and Founder of Caesar 3 Mod Squad! All are welcome! Either that or you're just trolling. I'm thinking the first option. You're quite wrong.... In fact, read it. I state the reason I quit, I never once implied "oh can we discuss this". Now if you continue to read you can see I ask, has the community improved and questioned the updates. If anything, your post had no relevance to the question i asked, and the answer you quoted was not even directed to you, Morningrise333 was curious as stated and i told Morningrise333, not yourself. Now, by replying to this thread should you not be answering the question intially stated? instead of making your own assumption to what the point of this thread is. I'm not going to spam up your topic, but I knew when I first read your topic and replied that you were itching for someone to ask you about these "security measures". A 20 character alphanumeric password is nigh-impossible to crack in any feasible amount of time, unless you let someone on your computer physically or through software, intentionally or unintentionally. You can continue to tout your extreme methods all you want but in the end, it's your fault that you got hacked. But that's the end of the discussion about your security measures. Come back if you want, see for yourself. Everyone has different opinions about the game and the community. A stereotypical PK'er and a stereotypical skiller will give you different answers. It all depends on your play style and what you're looking for, which we don't know. Retired Tip.It Mod || Admin and Founder of Caesar 3 Mod Squad! All are welcome! buzz_knight
I already did reply on topic. I apologise, I didn't see that it was you whom said that. I was never "itching", nor was the reply directed to you. Nor have i "continued" to tout.. that would imply I have kept going about what I use.. which I haven't. Stop implying my main reason for asking my questions about the community and updates was just i could trickle in all about what we are arguing about. Alas we could argue about whos fault it is that I got hacked, all night.. I would of loved a view from both, I would be able to draw a perfectly good idea about what's gone into the game and how it has affected players rather finding out myself. I asked a simple question but no-one can give that much of a good answer, "The community is the same as always" or , obviously, a variation of this would of been nice, personal opinions on updates would of been nice to. But i see that was a little bit to much to ask for. I appreciate all the answers I have been given, and has given me a delightful insight of what people are like here from what I remember not much has changed. If you want to know the end, look at the beginning
Grogthurk
The community has really stayed the same. People who complain keep complaining. Some people are just knuckle heads. To be honest I only respect a handful of member's posts on here (names shall be undisclosed). The only thing I want to say is, obviously you thought about playing, because you posted on here. Just give it a little and see what you think. Hermiting isn't a bad idea either. Be a recluse, enjoy the game.
