October 10, 200520 yr Thanks for the information ekaggen. Nice to know someone defeated the boss without the safespot :) I'll try luring the healers next time. However, will the 702 follow you when you run away? Or did you have the 702 get stuck? I'd like to use prayer against those healers too...don't want to take chances of getting hit too often.
October 10, 200520 yr I've been doing this all day, so far haven't even got to the 360s, but I think this trip i'll get to them I've been hallying the 180s in the "boot" safe spots edit-k one of the ranging 90s picked me off :( I had 30 hp left and no food lol, then after killing a 180, another 180, a 90 and a 45 came... and I died lol. I've been going in with just food lol, i love that place If you want to do good you will NEED guthans, or need to range everything. You cannot rely on food at all until the boss fight, or for emergency healing. I got to the 360s, but no pray pots so it owned me pretty good :D I'm too low lvl to bother trying to get far in it anyway 100% noob since 2001
October 10, 200520 yr Wooot, did it :) finally. And have a great tip for you guys who aren't using a safespot. I tried to trap the healers but it didn't work, they all followed me still.. I didn't even bother killing the healers, they all lined up behind me whilst I was far back shooting the 702. They were all too far to heal him :wink: so I took the hit from a healer, they all started healing him mean while i'm sitting there shooting down the big guy. It worked so nicely. G'luck guys. What I brought 13 prayer pots 2 range pots 10 sharks gunthans black range gear + mage short 10k addy arrows and 1k rune arrows for the boss
October 10, 200520 yr Congrats Vash :) I'm going ok on it, but the only real troubles I'm having is that I can't seem to find 2-hours that I can just sit there for. I got up to the 360 + 2 180's last night, so 1 away from the 2 360's and then I had to answer the door. I came back still alive, but just as I went to move the mouse I got logged out. I just sat there for about 5 minutes with a nice big frown on my face :D (well actually it was more like :( ). I know I could put something heavy on the spacebar or arrowkeys or something...But it'd just help if you could log-out inbetween.
October 10, 200520 yr I'm 121 combat, 82 prayer, 96 def, 99 range. I guess those are the only stats that really matter for me. I bought... Inventory ------------- 1 range potion 13 prayer potions 14 sharks ------------- Equiped ------------- Crystal Bow (3/10 about the time of boss) Verac Helmet Karils Body Verac Skirt Amulet of Glory Legends Cape ------------ This combination worked wonders for me... other than the bow degrading and such. I think I'll be getting a karils xbox just for the boss. The verac didn't really cut down my ranging effectiveness but it also gave me a large prayer bonus, that was nice considering prayer was on ALOT. I made it to the level 702 easily in 90-120 minutes. The problem was the ranging spot. When I tried to lure it to the ranging spot he just ... kept attacking me. I think I know what attacks he will be using but it seems it'd be pretty difficult to kill him considering theres healers and he has supposedly good defense. Are there any suggestions to other safe spots I can use as I pretty much freeze up when the boss comes. It'd be alot easier on me if I could just stand and range somewhere. BTW I failed 2 times at killing the boss =P. Woot. Slayer500 / 23M+ Prayer XP / 126 Combat in Spring '06
October 10, 200520 yr ive gotten to 18th level 360, one mistake died made it to two level 180s and 360, made one mistake and died 702 appeared safe spot didnt work.....you guessed it

October 10, 200520 yr there is no need for the safe spot dont complain that it doesnt work you are more likly to die if u try use it because ur not paying much attention to the monster

I'm there atm, up to about the 21st 360 :P
October 10, 200520 yr im soon going to try it with 111 comb 90 def 91 hp 76 ranged yes i know my ranged sucks, but with a karil's bow i think i should be able to do it with the safe spot i have 4k racks so far, should i buy more?

October 10, 200520 yr eloi, I really don't know, lol sorry I would assume potted and with rune arrows or karils bow you'll do just fine... might take a bit longer for you but yes, it can be done. You also may need a little more sharks because of that if you tend to try out my way.
October 10, 200520 yr yes vash, your way seems the best normal guthan till 360s karil's bow on 360s (i have 4k racks for the whoel thing, i think i can do it, sounds like if you switch prayers and get the healers to line up behind you its not too hard) switch prayers on 702 and get all 4 healers lined up behind me so they wont heal the 702 sounds like the 702 doesnt have too great of def/armor vs. ranged, i mean im no 99 range but if ekaggen can get it half way in 30 seconds i bet i can get it half way prety fast too, probably a minute or 2

Thanks :D I was surprised how fast it took to get it to half hp though. Must've been half a minute? This was also with a full crystal bow (I brought 2...1 for the regular enemies, the other specifically for the boss). Your post renewed my confidence, so I'll go again tonight after recharging a crystal bow and gathering a few more snape grass for prayer potions. If everything goes according to plan, I should be a proud owner of a Fire Cape tonight :P

The only reason I went into a panic was because I didn't know what to do with the healers. The 11 they hit on me kinda scared me, as I thought I might lose the battle. Now that I know what to expect from them, things should go more smoothly. And I agree there should be some change to the way the game works. Losing to the boss after numbers of redundant rounds only to find yourself in the beginning is quite disheartening. I may just go ahead and fight the boss without this defense level. Doubt 1 would make a difference anyway. I suppose after this slayer task. Already starting to feel nervous. Heh.
