I was just looking over at the new iPods on Apples Website, and I must say, those are damn impressive. The affordability of them struck me with awe.

 

The new iPod Nano's seem just awesome, I am keen now to sell my iPod Classic and upgrade to one ;) The fact that they have an inbuilt camera, Pedometer, and FM + Mic is incredible. Apple have out done themselves.

Apple says they are focusing more on gaming for the touch but I've read that they were having hardware issues with a camera so they had to leave it out his time around.

I wanted an iPod Touch upgrade. Oh well. Not gonna get one of the new Nanos.

Nothing all that impressive, but it's not like I was in the market for one anyway.

I don't really know why people would want a video camera in an iPod :?: I can understand in an iPod Touch or iPhone, but it just seems a bit much for an iPod nano. I'd rather stick with one without a video camera..Some of the other new app's seems nice though.

I may be getting a 16GB Nano for my girlfriend's birthday (hope she's not reading this), she's long been wanting a well functioning mp3-player, since she's used my old '06 1st gen Nano for the past year or so(which has a really annoying broken hold button and short battery life). The video camera isn't a spectacular function, but I thought if I wanna surprise her I better get the best&latest.

The camera is a stupid idea, in my honest opinion. I've always though of Nano's of being a mid-range player with capability, I just think a camera is going to far.

I'm a semi-Audiophile, so I don't really like iPods anyway. I think that adding a gimmick such as a video camera isn't going to improve the iPod in any way at all. Though I suppose the main demographic of the iPod nano is Teenagers, who would a camera just because it's there. I'm sure that many people who got the original iPod Nanos didn't think 'Hmmm.... I know what could really improve my iPod Nano listening experience, a little camera with a rubbish microphone'.

 

 

 

Obviously, my opinions don't count for anything since I already have a firm dislike for anything Apple (besides Final cut Pro).

The camera is nice. The FM radio was long overdue.

 

 

 

So, yeah, not bad of an upgrade. Though it's not really exciting. And the mp3 playing functionality is still sub-par. I still can't decide how I want to get the music on my player. I still can't customize my audio. Also, in terms of audio quality, nothing seems to be changed. The codec support just sucks.

 

 

 

In conclusion, a few gimmicks, and the iPod still sucks. But I reckon people will buy it nevertheless.

 

 

 

The only cool iPod is the Touch really. All other iPods haven't got a decent upgrade since they were released.

2 MP would be Full HD quality. The camera is VGA quality (640x480) which is equivalent to 0.3 megapixels. By the way, it's already available ;) (no need to say "will have")

 

The lack of ability to take still photos is a minus though. I prefer still pics over video, and for that I would have a digital compact camera which can record video aswell.

Apple's Marketing division should be awarded. They sell and overpriced products with technology that is 1-2 years behind the industry standard and they still sell iPods like hotcakes. It has lackluster codec support and an awful music loading system, yet they seem to be the next best thing since sliced bread (not for me).
