October 14, 200520 yr Well, im a huge bond fan, i loved james bond movies have ever since i seen the first one ever (Goldeneye) but COME ON, ever since sony took over the next bond film they had to recast bond, well just about a half hour ago here on the east coast, this popped on the wire LONDON - Daniel Craig was introduced Friday as the first blond James Bond and only the second Englishman to star as Agent 007 in the movie series. Craig's selection was revealed as he was whisked down the Thames River aboard a military boat to a news conference. Craig replaces Pierce Brosnan in the role of the suave spy in "Casino Royale," due in theaters next year. "I'm speechless," the star said, after posing for photos with producer Barbara Broccoli and director Martin Campbell. "Daniel is a superb actor who has all the qualities needed to bring a contemporary edge to the role," Broccoli and Campbell said in a statement. Producers announced last year that they were seeking a replacement for Brosnan, who has played Bond in the last four films. Craig, 37, is the first blond actor to play agent 007. Relatively unknown outside Britain, he has had a busy career that includes roles in the landmark 1990s British TV drama "Our Friends in the North" and films including "The Mother," "Enduring Love" and "Layer Cake." He played Paul Newman's sinister son in "Road to Perdition," was poet Ted Hughes opposite Gwyneth Paltrow's Sylvia Plath in "Sylvia" and appeared in this year's thriller "The Jacket" with Adrien Brody. Craig is also the tabloids' dream Bond. He once dated headline-grabbing model Kate Moss and has been linked to Sienna Miller, his "Layer Cake" co-star and on-off fiancee of Jude Law. Earlier this year, Craig praised 007 as "an iconographic figure in moviemaking." "I think you'd have to be stupid not to consider something like that," he said, but added that he hadn't given the role "any serious thought." The film's producers tried to keep their decision secret, but Craig's mother told the tabloid Sun newspaper she was "thrilled to bits." Ian Fleming's first Bond novel, originally published in 1953, "Casino Royale" is one of the few Bond adventures not to feature the MI6 gadget-maker Q. It was previously filmed as a 1967 spoof starring Peter Sellers. Before Friday, speculation about the new Bond also included British actors Clive Owen, Ioan Gruffudd, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Gerard Butler and Ewan McGregor, Irishman Colin Farrell and Australians Hugh Jackman, Heath Ledger and Eric Bana. ---------------------------------------------------------- Im upset, really, me being american i have no CLUE who the hell Daniel Craig is, please enlighten me, as a bond fan i am OUTRAGED at this selection, this guy looks NOTHING like bond, im assuming were going to have to rename what were watching to "Blond Movies" im sorry, sony you have failed me, i dont think ill be watching casino royale, truly outraged :(
October 14, 200520 yr Daniel Craig, he was pretty cool in Layer Cake. That was a great film and I think he would suit the Bond role really well. Who cares what colour of hair he has, if it's gonna be a decent movie then I'm gonna watch it.
October 14, 200520 yr I'll watch it, if only so i can verbally bash it on the forums, but I think they've taken a huge backwards step. I'd rather have Connery back with died hair than this odd englishman who's main claim to fame is sleeping with a model.
October 14, 200520 yr yea, who the hell is Danial Craig? Bond is suposed to be charming and handsom, thats not the words that come to mind when i look at 'Danial Creig' First and only pixel thinger I made.
October 14, 200520 yr Well, im a huge bond fan, i loved james bond movies have ever since i seen the first one ever (Goldeneye) GoldenEye is the 18th bond movie I believe. And I HATE a blond James Bond. The only actor who managed to pull off anything other than black was Sean Connery. Moore did an ok job but not overly good. I honestly don't know about Craig. Could do it, maybe not. He doesn't come across as being capable. Personally I think Ioan Gruffudd could've pulled it off if he worked on the 'charming' side of things... his work in the Fantastic Four makes me think he's capable of getting there...
October 14, 200520 yr He'll prolly do good. They can dye his hair. And how the hell can you call yourself a Bond fan when Goldeneye was the first Bond you ever saw. We'll just have to get into him a bit, he'll do fine. I thought Goldeneye was the 17th bond..You've got "Die Another Day", "The World is Not Enough" and "Tomorow Never Dies", "Casino Royale" will be the 21st movie and a remake of the '67 (?) Bond movie. October 14, 200520 yr yea, who the hell is Danial Craig? Bond is suposed to be charming and handsom, thats not the words that come to mind when i look at 'Danial Creig' Daniel is a very great name.. :D But why Pierce Brosman(or something  ) stopped?
October 14, 200520 yr I believe he only did it when Tarantino directed the new movie and when he (Brosnan) would get 20 million for the role. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

I'd rather have Connery back with died hair than this odd englishman who's main claim to fame is sleeping with a model. That'd be great, bringing back the best James Bond ever. Seeing as how the new guy is blond the new introduction could be... "The names Blond, James Blond". Personally I don't think it'll catch on, but you never know.
October 14, 200520 yr Who cares who they pick? It's a sinking franchise. But just because you haven't heard of an actor doesn't mean it's outrageous or a disgrace :? That's highly ignorant. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.

A 75 year old Bond, way to go. I can see him racing around in his BMW Aerodynamic wheelchair and an infuse in his arm. People shouldn't judge everything right away, you haven't even seen him do Bond. For all you know he might be the best Bond you ever saw, give the guy a break will ya. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

Nice image and it is only fair people give him a chance instead of bashing him before he's had a chance to prove himself.
October 14, 200520 yr Oh yes so where did you know pierce Brosnan from before James Bond, just shut up you immature little kid. For one thing Daniel Craig was absolutly fantastic in Layer Cake and fits the personality in my mind brilliently. You may watch it to come on forums to then insult it but to be honest I don't think Daniel Craig will really care what you think. Stop trying to look like a big almighty bond fan when you thought Goldeneye was the first one made.
October 14, 200520 yr no bond can beat Sean Connery  Point being? " " Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
October 14, 200520 yr Daniel Craig probably good replacement after I watched Layer Cake. This movie is very good also he appeared in first Tomb Raider movie. Don't judge at his appearance include his colour hair. I won't surprise if his hair is dye brown. But I really like Sean Connery especially Goldfinger (my favourite Bond film). Please note Pierce Brosman is 52 age old. He probably too old to act as James Bond. :P
October 14, 200520 yr Please note Pierce Brosman is 52 age old. He probably too old to act as James Bond. :P He wanted to do another movie, but he wanted Tarantino to direct it or something, atleast, from what I've heard a while ago. Roger Moore was 58 when they released his last Bond movie (A View to a Kill), leave a couple of years 'cause they prolly didn't do the entire movie that year and you'd still be around 56 or something. October 14, 200520 yr I don't think it really matters who they pick. No matter how good of an actor the guy they pick is, James Bond has simply been worn out. The story lines are repetitive and the further the series goes the more cliched the plot twists become. Occasionally one of the more recent ones is good but generally he does the same thing just with newer stuff and with a new chick. This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.
October 14, 200520 yr i lost all interest in bond with the last one, or the one before i dont know. had halle berry in it. didnt really like it. and by that i mean i freaking hated it. never watch a new bond movie, unless i hear its supposed to be completely different than that one.
October 14, 200520 yr Here's our new Bond. Doesn't really matter that much to me. I'm sure he'll do fine with the role.
October 15, 200520 yr When you think that they supposedly considered well over 200 actors, all the way up to Hugh Grant ( :? ), I think it's safe to say they've had enough time to think about it to prevent themselves from making a huge mistake. I think we might as well give the movie the benefit of the doubt for the moment...
