The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)

Featured Replies

A Japanese high-ranking official makes an impassioned plea to the new leader of North Korea (his father died in 2009, so I guess he's sorta old, but you get my point).

"Please release South Korea back into the hands of their own people. I offer you the chance to join the Federation, a collection of Asiatic states commited to each other's protection. We will fight as one, we will live in harmony, and we will be prosperous as one. Your name will be remembered as the man who brought prosperity to his people, a truly great leader and a wise person. If you cannot do this, then I ask again, please release South Korea. Embracing the world will allow you to be embraced in return. Embracing yourself leads nowhere."

Errr, I guess they would join you and Indonesia would leave entirely and the free world would embargo you.... having North Korea in the Federation would be like having the United Soviet Socialist States of Mexico join the United States of America as the 50something state....

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

No, Retech. No more expansion, you said it yourself.

Plus, North Korea will never join, as people repeatedly pointed out to me, I couldn't even station troops there to defend civilians, so what makes you think they'll hand over their independance on a silver platter?

The whole point was that I was flattering the guy so that he releases South Korea. North Korea isn't exactly that good, with the sky high poverty rates and such. Couldn't think of anything to say for him to release South Korea.

So anyways, do I get South Korea back from the North Koreans? If the North Koreans merge with South Korea to become Korea, I'm going to have to try to get Korea, if South Korea won't come by itself.

North Korea is not gonna give back South Korea....

Anyway, with the money from South Korea, as well as just generally being awesome(from their point of view) North Korea just goes from strength to strength while the rest of the world languishes.

News report:

"Thats right, Japan has cut wages again, now people are being paid half a dollar a year, arn't you glad you live in a country which pays a full 200 dollars a year."

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Archi, you are aware that the North doesn't exactly like the South, and vice versa. Don't you think there would be some problems there, with one occupying the other? I seem to have more trouble with Madagascar than the North Koreans do with the South Koreans. Then you note that North Korea is COMMUNIST and South Korea is CAPITALIST, and that they're still technically at war. South Korea has millions of anti-North people in it. How does North Korea take control so easily?

Japan asks Russia and China to put pressure on North Korea to return South Korea, since Russia and China are the closest allies that North Korea has.

Australia tells Japan to screw off, because it does not need any more land/population.

It also asks China and Russia to kindly ignore Japan's request.

Right...I don't think you really understand the concept of genocide... If North Korea captured South Korea they would kill the people who would cause a problem and make sure that everyone understood that this was it.

Kinda like saying prison wardens don't like prisoners....

plastic, powder or liquid, all which can be compressed.

So...a Solid, a Solid or a Liquid...

Since Semtex and the others mentioned are Solids, not Liquids or Gases...or Plasmas...One assumes that compressing it would be near enough impossible.

A plastic explosive would have to be put as 60% solid, 30% liquid as it is mouldable without effort, and as it is mouldable, it is copressable.

And powders are compressable, that we do today in for example spark plugs.

Japan replies that South Korea was a core part of the Federation, and that it is not further expansion. Then they note that Australia isn't exactly doing what they're reputation is: saving civilians, when South Koreans are being killed by their Northern oppressors.

So wouldn't the "right" thing to do be to send troops to liberate the South?

Big different between packing something tight and compressing something....Not sure what you mean about Spark Plugs...But since they give out energy I am guessing that the compression is not compression, but a reaction which leaves less mass...or something...

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

No, the ceramic part of a spark plug is ceramic powder which is dipped in some liquid, dried back into powder, then squezed into a mould,

But ok, packing tight then, I just don't get the big difference.

Mather, take some plasticine, put it in a container, and then press the weight of several buildings on it. It wont compress past a certain point, and that point is definately not 5%. Probably more like 90%, max, when all the air is pressed out of it.

2Xeo5.png

The difference is you can only pack something so tight. When you squeeze something, in general you're not making the pure material denser, your just removing, for example, air. So when you squeeze a sponge, your not making the material that makes up the sponge denser, you're just taking the air out.

flobotst.jpg

Hegemony-Spain

Well you could cool air or liquids to make them denser. Does that work for solids?

If you cool a gas it becomes a liquid, if you cool a liquid it becomes a solid...if you cool a solid it remains a solid because it is already near its densist.

Well maybe with research, you could figure out a way to change the substance in the explosive to a different substance which is denser, and when you remove or add something, it converts into explosive and blows up?

Still what Retech implied is correct, if you cool a solid it will shrink. Also by adding preassure one may cause molecules to move closer to eachother.

But the amount of energy required to do so would be impractical at best.

Safe to say, reducing something to 5% of it's original size through compression is barely possible, and much less feasible with current technology.

2Xeo5.png

Yes...and at absolute zero it is at its densist... And oddly enough it has not shrunk massively.

At absolute zero, don't some things become this wierd substance which crawls up walls and stuff? I saw a video once of Liquid helium very close to absolute zero, it was like it was alive.

Helium's a liquid near absolute zero? I thought it'd be a solid.

It's a REALLY big shaft.
