You know there's a tool for doing that Archi, it's called Excell, I've been using it since before you came along.

Well it's much simpler than the spreadsheets that you've been using, and it understates the amount of surplus a government gets, so it works fine for me. I'll probaly be using that until something simple is developed, since it's underpowering. It's also better than completely ignoring a budget and building what you want.

The only difference between a disagreement between friends, an argument between strangers, and a feud between enemies is the ability to reconcile.

Underpowering at the moment...Did you know that in 1925 2 US cents were worth the same as 1 modern dollar?

Those two cents were devalued by the inverse of the GDP growth...

If it doesn't take into account this fundermental fact then in 95 days time, the economy will be far over powered....roughly 50 times over powered...

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Just do this in excell:

Population:

[population number]

Avarage income:

[avarage income]

Tax:

[tax percentage]

Tax income:

=A2*A5*A8

[whatever you want to add here in between]

GDP:

=A11+[whatever else]

Spendables:

=A16(or whatever GDP value is on)/100

Didn't you say that you had a surplus of one trillion at some point? Anyways, for that point, I'm pretty sure that even though 2 US cents were worth the same as 1 modern dollar, there are far more than 50 times the US cents than there were in 1925, so real GDP still increased by quite some bit.

Not really, it's more realistic that way. That link you posted a while back about future GDP's has china increasing at 8% a year, which makes sense as it comes to use it's massive population and all. GDP will obviously increase over time, with population growth and better quality of life.

Of course, weapons will become more powerful and uber expensive by then as well. :P

Japan and Brazil have begun work on a secret project, estimated time of completion: undetermined.

Just remember to send the details to Sere...

1964, 1 quarter will buy 1 gallon of gas.

Quarter in 1964 is made of 90% silver. So, given that the current price of silver is 17 dollars, that quarter is actually worth 3 dollars 11 cent, in todays money.

Todays Gas prices are somewhere between 2.6 dollars per gallon and 3 dollars per Gallon.

So actually, only between 41 cents and 11 cents has be taken off of the price of gas.

If that is normalised to a percentage that is 13.6%

So in 45 years the real price of things has only dropped by 13.6%, as opposed to the 370% decrease that GDP increase would indicate...

(370% increase is actually based off of 1973 to 2009, since I can't find the GDP for 1964...however its pretty conclusively more than 13.6% when you consider that for 1950 to now there has been a 900% increase...)

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

We will in short time. Just have to finalize how it works and stuff, to check for flaws.

That assumes the price of silver was the same in that year.

Also assuming that gasoline had the same "value" which it does now, which varies based on supply and demand, and the differences in the gasoline that they use today compared to those used in the past.

Kinetic weaponry research has been finished, and the first prototype is being developed. Political talks have finished with Thailand, and it is now part of the PRC.

TUBULAR BELLS!

A gallon of gas in 1964 was pretty much the same as a gallon of gas in 2009. Put it in your car...drive it...

$1.29 per ounce was the price of silver per ounce in 1964.

So 5 and a bit quarters would by you an ounce of silver or 5 and a bit gallons of fuel

In todays money 5 quarters($1.29) buys you half a gallon of fuel

1 ounce of silver, today, buys you 6.5 gallons of fuel.

So, as you can see, the value of the quarter has gone down by roughly 600%, compared with the 1964 quarter.

Thus today's currency is devalued.

So unless we take that into account we will be throwing around vast sums of money, without properly devaluing it...

So living standards, according to the price of silver, have increased by 30%, where as GDP has increased by somewhere between 350% and 900%

Can you see where I am coming from with the idea that we can't just rely on GDP...

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Space-based weaponry is disallowed by the UN.

Oh, and the proposal for the Global Defence Network is still alive in the UN.

You can talk with Czechoslovakia all you want, just as long as you realize that there is no country in existance called Czechoslovakia.

I called it the Czech Republic earlier :3

Yes, that is what he wrote...

Then China has no choice but to resign from the UN.

Paul, think about this. China has a vast amount of people, which can be readily conscripted into legions of infantry. Now in any land battle, you will win because of the sheer amount of soldiers (at least in defence). Now if there are orbital weapons, then that doesn't matter anymore. The orbital weapons would decimate your cities and your armies, which would be defenseless against the threat. Orbital weapons would upset the balance of power, and you're already on the favorable side of that.

Japan pressures the UN to give it a permanent seat again, stating that it will not actively help the UN in any military roles, or anything beyond what is required of all nations, if it does not get the seat.

Archi, what do you propose we do? No GDP growth and 1% of current GDP as the budget? That would cut out any inflation that we have, and it would make it fair and equal.

You could just veto the space weapons thing....

People are being [developmentally delayed]ed. China gets benefit from the UN, and it resigns for no reason.

I guess sanctions against China would probably hurt it. Oh well.

Anyway, Dusty, Grim, and I need to vote.

Should Japan and Brazil get permanent SC seats?

The United Federation approves both of them.

----

I also agree with Retech (for once). If China does the orbital weaponry deal, it is setting a dangerous precedent against itself and is also alienating itself from global politics that drastically affect China by resigning. If China does the orbital weaponry deal (which caused a lot of STUPIDITY in the last thread, I might add), anyone could bombard China.

Also, China would not win any land war. If the USA and China went to war against each other today, the USA would almost definitely win due to its vastly superior technology and its massive size. China would probably win a defensive war, though.
