BC2 is gonna use SecuRom. And BAM, there goes my preorder.

Source? I see nothing mentioning it on steam, are you sure SecuRom isn't just for the non-steam release?

I think it's in all the releases:

http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlefield_bad_company/archive/2010/01/26/BFBC2-PC-Copy-Protection.aspx

Either way, it's restricted to the [Caution: Executable File] only and does not install into the kernel. It's merely a wrapper for the [Caution: Executable File] and won't install anything invasive. I'm not entirely sure though, seeing how right now there's no confirmation for Steam releases.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

Loved the first Bad Company, i'll definately be getting this.

Hopefully there'll be more game modes than capture the area (or whatever it's called) and gold rush.

the new game mode call squad deathmatch or something is what I'm really excited about.

4 way battles between smaller squads. First squad to 50 kills win.

Aha, thats sounds pretty good.

At least that clears it up a bit. Seems less invasive than normal DRM, considering it doesn't actually root its self into anything.

or so they claim. They can say whatever the [bleep] they want before the release.

Also, the FOV ingame is going to be locked at 55.

If I could double cancel my preorder I would.

Therein lies the point of the beta at least. To see how things function, see if things need changes, like FOV, damage, almost every multiplayer aspect. DICE said they are specifically going to also be seeing if the FOV needs to be unlocked/changed/whatever.

Either way, if they are lying about the SecuROM's functions, they end up getting sued over it, and they'll lose money over it, which is something to avoid. I think we all remember Spore.

Meh no need for a knee-jerk reaction IMO. Sure the spore DRM, for example, was terrible because it was invasive, limited your installs and was installed aside from the actual game. I don't really see why you think they'd be lying anyways, it seems pretty clear cut and dry on what it is.

Beta is up as of now if anyone is interested. Mostly everyone should be getting their beta keys at this time.

It's laggy because the servers are overloaded. Be patient.

Apparantly a demo is available for the Xbox 360 version as well now. I can't download it though, as I'm not 18 yet. :(

[cabbage] is (kind of) fixed on my end. Game is intense as hell, so awesome even though we're only on one map right now. I'm actually running pretty smoothly on my end with all high details turned on, just had to update my drivers.

I wish my teammates would push to bomb the points. I usually have a squad following me to get rid of A, which goes down easily, but B is a mess to destroy.

That really grinds my gears when this happens.

However I cannot change my settings since cant remember the password I put on the family settings.

Family settings don't work either. I have everything allowed. It goes by your windows live account age. They restrict M and NR downloads until you are 18.

Ahh I see, I always thought it was the family settings.

Does it check your age AFTER you download it? Because I am right now on my Xbox, and it's downloading like normal, (along with the LE Ezio outfit  ), sounds like this is going to be fun.

The multiplayer demo is is pretty cool. If we could get a few more maps, that would be epic. It also kind of sucks that you can upgrade each class only once, then you can't. I <3: playing as recon, just camping in a bush and spot enemies and mark them for my allies to pick off, getting free "spot assist" xp . The squad system also rocks, especially when you work together. I think the only down side is what was said above, and the amount of shots it takes to kill someone. Also, the knife kills are EPIC. Stab to the neck please!? WAY better than CoD knifing, and the ghilly suits look pretty cool, instead of a walking bush in the middle of a city. I think the vehicles are pretty lame too, but seeing as (as far as I know), you can only drive a medium and heavy tank, and an atv, the air and water vehicles might be pretty fun. Good game overall. And my friends can't play because of that age setting, does anyone know a way to get around it?

See I really prefer the fact that people don't die in a split second like MW2. The shooting just feels really solid.

Also this game really shines when working as a squad. Played earlier with 2 of my friends in a squad, it's great.

Yea, it just seems whenever I'm sniping, and a guy with an assault rifle comes up, I can't even seem to get one hit on him with my pistol before I'm dead. Also, a health meter would be nice :???: And no having to zoom out to pull back the bolt when sniping... so annoying...
