Many classic horror icons, such as Gegers Xenomorphs, Silent Hills Pyramid Head, and other disturbing creatures, share common characteristics. Pale skin, dark, sunken eyes, elongated faces, sharp teeth, and the like. These images inspire horror and revulsion in many, and with good reason. The characteristics shared by these faces are imprinted in the human mind.

Many things frighten humans instinctively. The fear is natural, and does not need to be reinforced in order to terrify. The fears are species-wide, stemming from dark times in the past when lightning could mean the burning of your tree home, thunder could be the approaching gallops of a stampede, predators could hide in darkness, and heights could make poor footing lethal.

The question you have to ask yourself is this:

What happened, deep in the hidden eras before history began, that could effect the entire human race so evenly as to give the entire species a deep, instinctual, and lasting fear of pale beings with dark, sunken eyes, razor sharp teeth, and elongated faces?

Just be careful out there.

Whoever wrote this has a good point...

Roses are red,

Violets are blue.

This line doesn't rhyme,

And neither does this one.

I think it was describing more along the lines of a Voldemort-type-creature, but a wolf might actually be a good explanation.

Just putting this out there, but the Xenomorphs were actually based on vaginas or something else sexual in nature, and that's supposed to be why they're disturbing.

Pale- Dead, sickly, unnatural Eyes- Reverse of baby eyes (i know that there is research showing people like things that have baby characteristics) Sharp teeth- carnivore, predator Elongated faces- not sure I think it just adds the unnatural effect because if you think about it by itself its not all that scary, odd but not scary

This is my opinion/explanation, but who knows. Certainly not as exciting as the thought of aliens or some ancient predator.

God dammit Seany, STOP SHARING MY MIND

" I believe in something greater than myself. A better world. A world without sin. I'm not going to live there. There's no place for me there... I'm a monster. What I do is evil. I have no illusions about it, but it must be done."

IMO, the elongated face is the scariest part :???: The eyes and teeth just make me think of a monster a little kid would draw. The pale skin part really isn't scary at all because I know an albino kid at my school and he... uh... hasn't killed me? I dunno... The long face part just scares the [cabbage] outta me

...that's [bleep]ing weird. What is that whisper saying?

Sounds like Behind you!

Huh. For some strange reason I feel obligated to say that Aasia, whoever that is, owns me.

How about the Tree>Devi? Or the Wolf>Lightning? Or the Human>Water?

Lots of it doesn't make sense, and I can add a lot to that list if you like :o.

Good point. ._.

The gun<sponge just kinda leapt out as a gunny spongey... thing. >_>

Though I suppose humans drink water. And... maybe wolves are incredibly resistant to lightning? Has anyone ever tried hitting a wolf with lightning?

That would totally kill the Air>Fire thing, since fire feeds on air :P.

Fire feeds on oxygen. Earth's air is mainly composed of nitrogen which means if there is enough wind being blown the fire will go out.

If there's enough water being blown on humans, they will "go out" too :P.
