March 22, 201016 yr I can't believe these morons did this....It's proven most people don't want it. Now our economy is going to suck even more and there won't be any doctors.
March 22, 201016 yr Just a question. Will Americans still be able to buy privatised health insurance? If so, why are so many against it? It's like that here in Aus, if it's minor you just go to your local hospital and wait, if you don't like waiting you should learn some manne- I men buy private health insurance, and if it's life threatening you don't have to wait or worry about private health insurance.Well, technically yes, but I'm sure that "Problem" is going to be solved soon.

March 22, 201016 yr i'm confused by your healthcare. some people are saying you still get insurance if you have a job, and free healthcare is only for the unemployed? :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
March 22, 201016 yr We really need to learn how to paraphrase.. But I'm all for socialized healthcare and the only reason we didn't get it sooner, is because we'd rather throw money into are military then take care of the health of our country. Perhaps more should have gone towards education so that illiterate people like you can type multiple sentences with proper grammar. Only in my wildest dreams. you win the douche of the hour award. Not to spam:@ Um_Bong and Stevepole: I've heard far more horror stories from people with NHS, then with privatized. Just saying... It may have its benefits, but I believe the cons (in my opinion) far outweigh the pros. If I won it by being an intellectual, then I will accept it gladly. I would much rather be an intelligent douche than an illiterate fool. Back on topic, I fear that this will only hinder America. Studies and polls have shown that approximately 60-70% of doctors surveyed will leave the United States for other countries if the bill is passed. Have fun getting into the hospital while there are an increased number of people there with children who have a stomach ache, and lucky you, who might have a serious problem like a broken bone, just get to sit and wait your turn. You might say that in that case your condition would warrant immediate treatment, and in privatized health care it would. However, under universal health care, you become just another number. Well, not only a douche, but judgemental and pretentious as well  If someone mistakenly uses one word wrong, especially someone who I respect and know to be intelligent...I get over it. It's not a big deal. I love this argument, seriously. I'm sure that 70% of American doctors couldn't possibly deal with a cap on insurance premiums. Oh the horror, we aren't going to be able to profit off people's medical misfortunes any more. What a sad story :( Canada has universal healthcare - and if I were to go to the emergency room with a stomachache, I would be waiting for hours. If I went with heart palpitations (which I have) I would walk straight to the desk and be inside in 5 minutes. It's not even like this bill is publicizing healthcare anyway - at least not nearly as much as it could. And @ pinkbullet: I'm not privy to the ins and outs of this bill as I'm not American but as I understand it it caps the amount insurance companies can charge for health insurance, making the lower earning members of society more likely to be able to recieve health insurance. March 22, 201016 yr @michel555555: http://www.factcheck.org/2009/11/imprisoned-for-not-having-health-care/It's not surprising how much the bill is hated considering what some of you believe is in there. And congrats to the Americans. Hopefully this will work out well for your people. Here's the thing though. According to that very link if you refuse to have health insurance, you will be levied via tax. And if you refuse to pay that tax, you can be jailed. Therefore it's essentially a fine for not using insurance. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. The problem is that the tax is levied on those who choose to not use insurance. And believe it or not, some people prefer NOT to use insurance and instead are good at managing their money when it comes to health spending. They will use clinics whenever possible to avoid hospital fees, only use the emergency room when necessary, and let their doctors know that they are private-payers and to double check before assigning x-rays or labs. The vast majority of Americans, however, are those who hear their children coughing and go straight to the ER. March 22, 201016 yr How are you guys going to afford it? I am not a fan of socialized healthcare. Which i guess i should be, since i come from the socialist country numbero uno in Europe (Sweden). March 22, 201016 yr Author Are they going to even provide a privatized sector for the huge number of Americans that could actually afford healthcare under the old system? Seriously, I'm not trying to sound like a heartless douchebag, but I would rather be able to go to the doctor quicker on some things (assuming that I would have to wait a few months to get my finger checked out because it has a cyst growing in it), and I'm middle class, so I can actually afford it... EDIT: Wait a second. Wasn't universal healthcare thrown out of the window a long time ago? How come everyone keeps referring to this as "America's NHS" or whatever? <_< SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.

March 22, 201016 yr Yay another expense I can't afford, unless of course jobless college students with barely enough money to eat or do laundrey can get free health care, but seeing as the government hates people furthering their education, looks like I get to go out in a blaze of glory when the cops come to take me to prison. Eat that. uhhh not rly. states rights. eat that. (and swallow! ) o.O In all seriousness, I hate this bill. Some of the hate is unfounded, ex: there's no reason for it except for the fact that the majority of Americans do not want this, Congress (in my view) should basically vote for the people. Congress obvsly voted for themselves, good grief that pisses me off. I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. March 22, 201016 yr Nah, unless the federal law is unconstitutional or illegal, it supercede state laws. To be honest I really do not know much about this bill, obviously extending coverage to all Americans would be a good thing and I could care less if people freak out about government takeover. But can they really pay for all this? Supposely on the long term the deficit will go down because of the reform but in the short term we will see a huge increase in spending. God damn. Even if i want to get treatment at a private hospital, i still have to pay the health insurance and then on top of that the private health insurance. Someone (a liberal no less) did have that same reservation. How can we afford it when we spend so much already. And not all of it benign. The US spends hundreds of billions of dollars annually giving aide and relief to nations around the world suffering from disasters, droughts, wars, etc. Which is a kindness that in the light of disasters like Katrina or 9/11 has never been repaid, even by larger nations that we've been assisting for decades. We are hemhoragging money and I was appalled by the mentality of the liberal majority to spend as much as they can before the upcoming elections, then back off to the President's suggestion that we go easy on the budget for a few years. But as stated, we have no idea how this is going to pan out until it does. Will millions rush to hospitals to claim and overwhelm the program? Or not? The vast majority of doctors want this, it gives everyone insurance and it is easier to get money from an insured patient than a non-insured patient. I'm meh on this bill, forcing people to buy privatized health insurance or be taxed by the government just makes no sense to me.
