Shattered Heart

This is the thread made by Mod Maz to adress the reward of Shattered Heart:

Modmazs-h-confirm.png

Notice the "we would then be forcing people into doing this activity", that's from my view exactly what they are doing already. Now i have gotten all rocks for all skills except for Strange rock #2 for Hunter. I do not want to do tracking, falconry, chinning or kyatts...i want to catch red salamanders. But do i have option to do this? No.

For my statue to be finished i have to go do the other activities in Hunter skill, something i do not want to. And if i don't, it will be a long time before i will get new rocks.

I don't get it...why are you forcing me as a player to choose a other option to collect these rocks? And just for records i have spent over 30minutes to 2 hours getting Hunter rocks in earlier weeks. And then there is the statue: when you finish it, it becomes alive for a second. Why confuse players? And the reward: a statute in your house! Wow!

Shattered Hearts needs to be fixed. You say "We don't want to force players", but i say i wanna catch red sallies to get those damn rocks. Another thing you should consider: What if a player never finishes a statue 100%? Then that player will not get Strange rocks in a long time...

Shattered Hearts was a recent update, if it's not relevant for players to do now, then what was the point of it?

P.S I find EXP as reward acceptable, and my main issue is that players should be able to receive Strange rocks in most methods in all skills.

If you want the reward you have to do the activity to get the reward. That's the way the game works. Effectively, Maz is saying that you aren't forced to do Shattered Heart to get a powerful reward. You still have to play the minigame the way it was designed to get the cosmetic reward though.

I know what Maz is saying, i never said that i had problem understanding it. But i am saying, why is it that we are forced to do certain methods to get the rocks, such as the Hunter ones, and i am saying this because they take often over 30 minute.

Mod Maz also put it as "Stumble upon them", so how are we stumbling upon these rocks if we are going for a certain method and not all methods? It's stupid.

Even if catching Red salamanders had smaller chance than doing the other methods for the rocks, i still would do Red salamanders for hunting. Why? Because i like to level Hunter that way.

I don't play this game because the rewards aren't worth it and it makes me do things I dislike.

So no, you aren't being forced.

Can you be more spesific by what you mean by that?

Shattered heart has no rewards I care about. It makes me train skills I don't like to get said undesirable rewards. Therefore, since it is neither enjoyable (to me) nor rewarding, I choose not to play it. I am not forced to play it.

I wouldn't agree with Maz in saying that it is to be "stumbled upon". I would agree with Dirk in saying it's like a Champion Challenge for skillers. Not all of the activities utilize the best training methods or the most enjoyable ones, most rocks have you do something that is not usually done in that skill.

i.e. construction. Sitting in your house doesn't even train it. It's a challenge to get a rock.

its a thing for everyone to do, not just you and you alone

theres people that like to have a challenge and show it in there house

jagex has to make things the everyone or most people will play

just becuase a few dont play it doesnt mean they should remove it

The once was a mexican called pepsi,

Or maybe it's just he had Hep C,

He was a pretty cool bro,

Bros generally are you know,

He hailed from the land of 'taters,

He was known to hate many-a-hater,

He likes a girl named Lacey,

His thoughts about her are kind of racy,

And also his dad likes to [rooster].

Yup, just cause I don't use it doesn't mean it's a worthless update.

EG: fishing sharks. Not something I enjoy, but I'm glad it's in the game.

Your thread doesn't make sense, sorry. You say you're being forced into doing it RIGHT NOW as well, but as far as I can see, only you are forcing yourself to "get those damn rocks". Just go catch red sallies and ignore the whole minigame if that's what you want. You even have the option to switch it off. What's the problem here?

You're being watched.

Nobody is forcing. Nobody is forcing you to even play Runescape. You play for your own enjoyment, not for others.

I see nothing wrong with this update. It provides a bit of Adventure.

What if a player never finishes a statue 100%? Then that player will not get Strange rocks in a long time...

It seems like common sense for the statue and rocks to reset weekly.

Instead only the statue resets only.

I would have said it's a glitch but it seems to be intentional.

I don't want to train all 13 skills. This d&d forces you to.

I would have preferred if the whole thing reset weekly so that I could get a little bit of experience at least for the skills I do train.

For now I'm just ignoring it, haven't even finished my first statue.

Here's how I see it.

If let's say, the statue boosted all your non-combat styles, excluding slayer, by 7 levels, that would be an awesome thing to have. However, by making the reward non-cosmetic, you are giving the players who worked for it an advantage over the players who didn't. Thus the players who didn't will impulsively and competitively be forced to do the event in an attempt to rise to equal ground with their competition (the players who did the minigame).

However, by restricting the methods you can get rocks, you are giving no player an advantage over another player, thus you are not forcing anyone to do anything.

However, for people (like me) who actually WANT to complete the statue and get it in our house, that would be terrible! We would have a time limit on when we need to get the rocks! I think the "skillers champion challenge" is a great description. The end result is ultimately useless, it's just for bragging rights. What WOULD be nice is if finishing the challenge was more visible, like the imps that follow you after the champions challenge. However, I'm fine with the way it is.

Please, you people are making mountains out of moleholes.

If you want the statue, then I suggest you do training methods that earn you the stones as stated by Jagex. If you don't want to be hesitated by them, you can TURN THEM OFF at the Varrock Museum. It's that simple.

We don't even know the entire story behind this, and this is a relatively recent update that needs a chance to stretch it's legs.

So what if you don't get all the pieces in a preferred time limit? It's a part of having a challenge and adventure in this game. Those are two values that this game was built on. Don't try to tell me that is not true.

One week is plenty of time.

It could even be a two-week rocks resetting timeframe to be more fair.

It's a D&D it should reset rocks not just the statue. This was a major flaw in it's design.

Also why make an option not to receive rocks when I can't receive any more rocks anyhow unless I train skills I hate.

I've gotten a few sets of rocks for the few skills I train.

I disagree that you're being forced to play it. If you dislike having to get the rocks, it should be obvious; don't do it. However I do agree that if you DO want the statue, jagex applied some unnecisary restrictions:

1) You can only get 2 rocks in a skill before you need to move on to others. This means that if you want to build the statue you have to constantly change the skills you train, which doesn't fit well with many players', such as myself, style of playing. Letting players get as many skill rocks as they like at once would make things more practical without making it any easer. Plus players would still be free to just get 1 rock set per week if they liked.

2) Restrictions on type of training. No more needs to be said here. Some argue that, like the champion's challange, you're supposed to have to use ineffecient meathods. However the rocks are simply named for their skill. If it's a hunter rock, you should be able to get it through hunting. If it was a "chinchompa catching rock" it would make sense that you could only get it to catch chinhompas. It's like, if you could only get zombie scrolls from level 12 zombies.
