Dungeons of Daemonheim trailer from Thejagexchannel

How can you correct an opinion? I think it is epic, whatever anyone says.

Well that is true, but if there is not many players complimenting how epic the trailer was, then how can it be epic?

My question would be: How can you not think that was epic? :o

I think it wasn't epic just because it's hard to associate RuneScape graphics with epic. Well not necessarily the graphics.. but the animations. I think the music and the voiceover set the stage for an epic trailer, but RuneScape combat animations aren't epic and dramatic enough to live up to the music/voice. I mean the video editing was pretty good (could have been better perhaps) but the real problem is just in the game's limitations. The animations are boring and there wasn't much they could do about that for a trailer. The animations feel slow and for me an epic combat trailer needs to be quick and fast paced. Melee is like stand still and slash, slash and magic is like a spell slooooowly moving toward the target. Slow =/= epic imo.

After you've seen trailers for higher end, more graphic-intense MMOs, this one just isn't up to that standard.

If we are going to go all quirky on this matter, fine. Il correct myself.

My opinion of this trailer is that it was epic UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES that it was shot IN Runescape.

P.S @SirHemen; Dont make your opinion on something sound like a fact when its not.

I have no problem with anyone thinking the trailer is epic :o I wasn't correcting anyone, just stating my opinion :)

The voice reminded me of 'Turok: seeds of evil' game for the N64 years ago, idk why. Anyway, it looked good, but i doubt the water effects are anything we will get in-game, but are just something put into the video to spruce it up.

You sure about that? Because we've been promised water reflections after RuneTek 6, the splashes could easily be done with particles and everything else in the trailer is done with ingame material...

The particle snow apparently wasnt ready for the update either, so the water update was probably also supposed to release with this. Well, thats my theory atleast =/

Normally, I'd say that if this is what the RuneScape engine of capable of - L4D style water and beautiful particle effects (AND DYNAMIC PLAYER SHADOWS), then God knows what the engine is capable of in the future.

But in this case: to be honest, that video was probably touched up so much it probably felt like it was violated.

Beautiful trailer though <3:

They need to write RuneScape in C++ instead. It would run so much better it wouldn't be funny. I hate Java. :(

  • Never trust anyone. You are always alone, and betrayal is inevitable.
  • Nothing is safe from the jaws of the decompiler.

Anyone notice that the people fighting the Gluttonous Behemoth weren't blocking both the pieces of food?

Nearly half of the trailer is dead boring. It shows off new graphics (which looks good btw), and players heading to Dungeoneering, and then scene changes from room to room. Only over half of the duration of the video, the trailer picks up.

EPIC, no. Good - yes.

I thought it was pretty cool. The only thing that bothers me is those players at the end putting on Celestial and Primal armor. It's false advertisement, as you can't get full Celestial or Primal in one floor. Hopefully this is rectified in the future.

To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

It's written in Runescript, not Java. Not to mention, Java is not hindering them at all with the quality of work they produce. It's being able to roll out every update to play in a browser with such low specs required and doing so with little computer process needed. Runescape could look like any PS3 game, but because it would not play on the majority of computers available Jagex choses not to.

Large maps mayhaps? Higher droprate near the bottem? Four bound items?

That's another thing that's false by the video. However once the video reached over half duration, it was all cool.

I wonder who did the story voice.

Voice artists are great :)

She kinda reminds me of Sofia Lamb from Bioshock 2.

Let me just add that I really like the rotating Jagex logo at the start =)

!!

Now that you mention it, it does sound like her!

OT: 0:23 - Dungeoneering Cape is opposite side to Thok then in game?

And the boss at 1:23 bares a resemblance to a LoZ Boss.... I can't remember who though

As far as I'm aware, you can only get primal, sagittare, and celestial armor parts from bosses. Seeing as how there's only one boss per floor and at least six pieces (up to seven for primal) per armor set, it's impossible, especially for THREE players to have full sets on one floor. Like I said, I hope this is rectified with the second batch of content.

EDIT: To the poster below - obviously, but I don't see what that has to do with false advertising.

As far as I'm aware, they're mods and can do whatever the hell they want.

And I think that's just a frozen Dragon, 3_Hit. It's way to cyan to be Runite.

Put it this way: A person who has never seen any MMO stumbles upon this trailer. They see that, and the epic armour and stuff and they're like: Cool! So what do they do? Go try out the game, maybe even become a member. It's all business.

. . . and then they find out that it's impossible to do what they saw in the video. I hope you're not a business major. You could be a political science major, I guess.

Sure, with that armour it may be impossible. But what about the Promethium type? That's not impossible in one dungeon. What about Spiritbloom type? What about the Tyrannoleather type? They can be obtained in a dungeon with luck, and maybe a few high level money drops.

But still, who cares? They're just showing off the best stuff.

Would you rather have a video where they were wearing Novite?

And no, don't worry. I'm not even near the age of university, let alone work.

And I highly doubt that someone who started playing RuneScape because of that ad is going to know which is the 'best' armour, or remember the grudge of how Jagex 'lied' one to two years down the road.

Uhh, yeah. That was... not very impressive at all.

It's something I'd expect as a player-made trailer, not a project by a large games studio.

I was not impressed.
