Goldenjkered
Just wondering what people think the best DS is out there (DSi, DSi XL, DS Lite etc). I've had the original DS (the silver blocky one) since release, and I was thinking about getting a new one to play Pokemon Heart Gold on it. Any suggestions? Racheya
DS Lite I'd say. It's got a nicer, brighter screen without being stupidly filled with crap like all the others. I seriously want Nintendo to just STOP making new versions of the DS. They should have stopped at the Lite imo. I edit for the [Tip.It Times]. I rarely write in [My Blog]. I am an [Ex-Moderator]. Dax
Apparently DSi XL is heaps better than the DSi. That's all I can add, as I'm a PlayStation man. #KERR2016/17/18/19/20/21. #rpgformod
Tacos
i'd say any of the three, for these reasons. DS Lite: Only get this if you want to still play gba or gutiar hero. this is unless you are keeping your original (thats what i did) DSi: I have this and its really good. It has a sound recorder, camera on both side of the console, and you can buy some decent DSiware games. Setback is if you don't has a DS or DS Lite, no gba gaming. So keep that if you want anything like that. Also keep it for Pal Park in Pokemon. DSi XL: Nothing to say good, nintendo put it good when they said "better for multiple friends to watch you play". It also comes with three DSi ware, don't know if they are that good though. It's a giant DSi, thats it. a little more expensive than DSi, then again, its around the same distance as DS Lite and DSi. Overall, i'd say DSi. But if you get it keep the silver ds (funny thing was, that is what i did)
Alg
You can still play HGSS on the original ones. On the DSi you lose out on the GBA connection features too. And there are way too many acronyms in this post. I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr
Maleficus1055
Definitely the Lite. DSi and DSi XL cost extra pointlessly, the camera and voice recorder are nothing more than cheap gimmicks because they're terrible, even a camera phone is better. The XL is too alrge to even be considered portable at least to me, its overall too bulky. And you lose your GBA port! Tumblr. Follow me!
armourdilo
Overall, i'd say DSi. But if you get it keep the silver ds (funny thing was, that is what i did) I did that too, though, I rarely use my old one (mostly because my L button doesn't work so I can't effectively play metroid prime hunters online with it). DSi and XL are both WPA compatible whilst classic and lite aren't that's another reason to get the DSi. Although, it doesn't really do any good because despite that, the games AREN'T WPA compatible, so regardless of my woes with the classic, I can't play any of my games online anyway. :wall: Nevertheless, the DSi is great. It's what I do

Instead of upgrading to the DSi, DSi XL, and now the 3DS, they should have just stopped at the DS lite instead of being total casualwhores listening to fan demand. That being said, it's pretty obvious what's my favorite. I wub mah black DS lite. BlogTrimmed | Master Quester | Final BossBoss pets: Bombi | Shrimpy | Ellie | Tz-Rek Jad | Karil the Bobbled | Mega Ducklings120s: Dungeoneering | Invention
Mirror
I have an original DS, didn't know they came out with so many other versions (ok, so I don't play games as I used to :P) and personally I like the looks of the DSi XL but that's just reading the specs. And also reading about what the Nintendo 3DS could hold, who knows... A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind. Youmu
Doesn't the DSi also have like half the battery life of the Lite? Not half, but it definitely is significantly less than the DS lite (which is one of the reasons why the lite is better in each and every way). You know, so you can actually use your ds online without using an out of date hacker friendly wep key. If you choose your beliefs/lifestyle simply based on what your parents want, then you are a weak minded individual and are not even worthy of calling yourself a person. Goldenjkered
Thanks for the advice guys, I've gone with a DS Lite, I managed to get one off a private seller on play.com. Also picked up Guitar Hero On Tour (With Grip) and Decades, and also Pokemon Heart Gold, all for around £165, so not to bad! Demoli
3DS isnt a new DS, is pretty much the next gen portable console. as for screens: WARNING: many pictures, suposedly leaked images of the 3DS [hide][/hide] Taken from gamevicio. It looks like it will have a scanner, graphics near or better then the wii's (if this happens to be true they must release a new home console ASAP) better online play and backwards compatibility with DS games. The screen will be almost as big as 2 DSi XL screens toghether. againsm this is not certain.

Demoli
It looks like a feasible and somewhat credible-in-the-limits, but like most people, I'll wait for E3 to check it better.
Veiva
It's too late I guess, since you bought a DS Lite, but the DSi is incredible. I have owned one of each iteration, and I'd put them in order from best to worst as DSi, original, and lite. My original DS is fully functioning and works like a charm. The only problems are that the label on the bottom has worn off (it was a launch-day DS by the way) and that the battery only lasts about 30 minutes. My DS lite soon broke its hinge (not that it broke off; it just swings open too easily now), and my brother's DS lite has problems with the "L" shoulder button. The DSi, on the other hand, is just wonderful. It may get less battery life on the default brightness setting, but I can play on it for 5+ hours at a time from games on my AceKard 2i, homebrew or otherwise (which tend to drain the battery more than a normal cartridge because it has to go through the MicroSD card). Youmu
One of the major cons of the DS lite is that it breaks easily. However, this shouldn't be a problem if you keep it safe at all times. And a solution to the L button thing: blowing on the L/R buttons when they are broken usually helps. rangeor
I don't mean to be a pretentious old-schooler, but my original DS has worked perfectly fine ever since the day I got it (aka the day it was released :P). None of the features of the new DS's appeal to me other than a longer battery life or a bigger screen, and to be honest those are pretty trivial. Gandorf61
If those really are pictures of the 3DS they look pretty awesome. From what I've heard it's supposed to have graphics equal to the Gamecube's power. My DS lite soon broke its hinge (not that it broke off; it just swings open too easily now), and my brother's DS lite has problems with the "L" shoulder button. Heh the same thing happened to me too. My hinge cracked and wouldn't stay shut but I phoned Nintendo's customer service and since it was still under warranty they sent me a brand new one. But now I have a couple of dead pixels which are really annoying. :S Pyramid Plunder Guide Tip.it Forum Rules Adventurer's LogThanks to Cowboy14 for the awesome sig!
