But I AM hot, and everyone else IS fat.

Really, this is a pretty sardonic look at player types. I think the category that I fall into, along with lots of forum users, is the...

Past Experience Player

We used to play a lot, and now we still play a good amount, but we rely mainly on past achievements to carry us throughout the game and simply play for fun or to kill time every now and then. Some of us have a good amount of money, but we aren't particularly good at making more of it. Sometimes, we can tend to be arrogant due to being "old school" and being of a higher age than the average RS player, but we are still sociable and love to help people out with the knowledge we have acquired over the years of playing the game. I know that myself, along with most of my friends, fall into this category.

Im mostly this except i think im more

Nostalgic Old-school player

EVERYTHING was better back in the day. People were nicer, game was funner, etc etc etc. Nevermind the terrible graphics, the broken gameplay and the community that was even WORSE then it is now. These types of players will overlook any bad stuff just because they want to prove that it was better back then also your opinion is invalid if you think otherwise.

I think Runescape more then any other game is flooded with these guys

the community was undoubtedly MUCH better in the past.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

I'm a depressed, elitist sociopath, I suppose. I lol'd at the different stereotypes, though, and I started reading it in a British accent when you mentioned it.

I started in 04, looking back on it the community is more nicer and more alive now then it was then.

I dunno if you were referring to early rs classic but since rs2, at least in my own personal experience I have dealed with less [wagon], less noobs, less just all players i dont want to be around then ever before.

Also a lot of the scammers arent around anymore. Maybe theres more elitists now, i dunno i dont exactly run into them often. Clan Chats bring more people together then ever before. Also Jagex allowing fansites after years of fighting them was a major plus for the community.

But in my personal experience the games community is improving instead of declining.

I would say clanchats were the single biggest cause of loss of community. Rather then going DKs with my freinds now, I can be slaying one of them can be soloing tds and one can be chilling at the GE and we can all talk. Theres more 12 yearolds now, the "miniclip generation." There are many more [wagon] now, and while scammers have decreased due to the trade updates, overall the community is in decline.

Yea.. Early rs2 was amazingly scam filled. Leaf bladed spear swap, wine swaps, cash swap. You name it, it was swapped. RSC (forum) used to be completely filled with lure pics (might still be, not been there in a while.)

Isnt it better that you can talk to your friends while doing all those things instead of having to stand right next to them. Also slaying boss monsters by yourself isnt a decline of a community decline its because they are too easy, their like the Kaphite Queen now, a boss that is easily soloed by a pro player.

Although i would say that the GE is the single biggest hit the community has taken ever, but it survived and adapted. And theres always been [wagon] its just who your around, elistists tend to be [wagon], Obsessive PVPers and Noobs have always been there and have always been [wagon].

(oh i just listed 3 more types of players in this)

Also i started right at the height of the "miniclip generation" i started at 12 years old and im 18 now (or i will be next month). So not everyone from there is bad, most of the original mini clippers have grown up by now.

But this is kinda getting off topic, we can agree to disagree

If you think miniclip is bad, imagine what type of players we get when someone posts a "Runescape" thread on 4chan's /b/.

ps. I started with the miniclip generation as well and I'm around the same age.

OT: I am a sociopath for sure.

PM me in game anytime

It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet.

That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying.

/v/ doesn't get too many Runescape threads, and when they do it's generally a more nostalgia oriented discussion rather than a "join this now" topic. From what I've seen of /b/ (I don't venture that far down the rabit hole), they would do less than they are given credit for. /b/ doesn't randomly stage large-scale attacks on sites; they need some sort of motivation to do so.

Runescape threads in /b/ are full of "'lol I sold my account years ago," things of that nature. Sometimes people post CC names that fill up VERY fast.

My description of me?

The Addictiople (Addiction-People)

One who does massive amounts of research in order to perfect his/her game play. This person will often have their chat on 'Off' in order for full concentration, or have the chat 'on' when feeling lazy. This person has created multiple spreadsheets, as well as doing massive amounts of math calculations to figure out exact profits. This person will find markers in the game( trees, bushes, a certain area on the minimap ) to click on to work alongside with the lag and perfect it so no time is wasted when doing a repetitive task. This person also times themselves from time to time doing a certain task in order to see where they can improve, and whether or not they're inclining or declining in speed. This person is also a major user of MouseKeys, and countdown timers. A massive database of music and T.V. shows helps this person get through the tedious hours of work, which he/she later comes to enjoy. This person definitely believes in only doing the fastest and quickest methods in skills in order to gain the most XP or yield the most profit. This person is most likely a skiller more than a combat person.

Why does everyone give /b/ such a bad name? It is the funniest place ever! Albeit sometimes pretty gross. Still. Get off your high horses, I bet people who say they never read it read it 24/7.

It's related to the average maturity level of /b/tards. Most of them are just immature kids getting there jollies off of shock images and porn. To be honest though, 4chan is just the public face of anon. There are some real douchebags on the less well known sites who ruin the lulz for everyone by taking it way too far. These are the people who sully the name of /b/.

Damnit, I tripped over Magzar's half inflated blow-up doll and hurt myself. I wish he wouldn't leave that thing lying around. -.-

I know that myself, along with most of my friends, fall into this category.

I can almost exactly relate to this. Except that I don't consider myself truly old-school. I'm playing for a long time, but I know plenty of people who play longer.

Lol but really, sometimes even I notice that I press enter after every 4-5 words. Just became a habit that really can't be helped now. My friends don't seem to mind it so I never bother trying to change it. (Unless I know I'm going to be typing alot of info in which case I consciously make sure I fill up the entire chat bar before typing enter to avoid spam)

It's pretty bad. I'm on there a lot, there is a lot of good and a lot of bad but the bad seems to come out more. I don't look at /v/ that much but I see as much Runescape stuff on /b/ as I do any other game. My point is those guys are worse a demographic then the miniclip bunch.

Interesting list. I don't really see myself there, I spend all my time in RS either merchanting, playing castlewars, or talking in clan chats or the Grand Exchange about merchanting, flipping, and investing. I guess I'm kind of unique :P
