  1. My little sister does this all the time. Me being a die-hard max-cash merchant and all, I usually had to bite my tongue whenever I passed her. Oh well, I guess she was right all along ;)
  2. Merchanting will still exist, as it should. It's MANIPULATION clans that will be wiped from the face of the earth. And with that, I indeed agree it's good riddance.
  3. The reason rares have become so overvalued in the last few years is because of the existence of the Grand Exchange's trade limits - the 5%-rise-per-update rule kept the Grand Exchange price of rares well behind the true street value, and as a result rares became exceedingly hard to buy and sell. Once free trade is returned, the price of rares will stabilize, and violently. I predict that the eventual street price will fall somewhere between the current Grand Exchange value and the current street value for each item, but undoubtedly there will be a violent period in price fluctuations before this level-out occurs. To rare owners, I can only suggest that you remain calm and keep your bearings for the first few weeks - thankfully, rares are the only thing that will have a guaranteed value in the future.
  4. I think Jagex just realized that they made a big mistake with falling interest in RS since they removed the wilderness and free trade. We'll keep gravestones in the regular game, just not in the wilderness. Here are some mod comments that might clear some of this up:
  5. This has HUGE implications for merchants on all levels. I'm going to think this through and probably make a thread just on this topic - but just off the top of my head, the rares market is going to go absolutely haywire once the trading caps are gone.
  6. I doubt they would scrap old updates. I think they'll keep a few PvP worlds and BH worlds, then convert all the "normal" worlds now to the old wilderness. Only thing that may go is Revenants.
  7. The "return the wilderness" vote is a front. Jagex doesn't care about the votes, and the results won't influence anything. But as far as everyone here cares, it's a good thing. Why? The first things I noticed - There's no account validation, and you can vote with any username. There's not even a "no" option! Jagex already intends to return the wilderness and free trade, and they're doing so as a means to revitalize a game that's been dying since they originally removed them in 2008. See the Google Trends graph for Runecape here Indeed, Google searches for Runescape have been falling ever since the end of 2008. Jagex has made this connection many times. Yup. Jagex wants you to go pleading to everyone you know to get involved with Runescape again. So should you even vote? Yeah. Even though it's rigged, the larger the response Jagex gets they happier they will be that their plot is working, and the more time and energy we'll see them invest in RuneScape in the future Welcome back, free trade!
  8. It all depends on the junk - large items can be taken care of easily, but a stack of 50m potions, etc is almost impossible to dump. For some reason people are more willing to buy some junk then other types.
  9. I;d want old-style merchanting near the Varrock bank. There's no way I could make as much as I do now with the GE, but actual buying and selling with other people was fun in its own way.
  10. I agree you earned the "right" with your hours of training, but my perspective is that common courtesy can be a good thing too. I don't tend to crush people just because I can.
  11. I thought when I first saw this thread it would be by someone who stopped playing 3+ years ago. I haven't seen that much of a change between now and last year, just more items/minigames. All the game-wide changes (wilderness, pvp, Grand Exchange, etc) came in the two years before that.
  12. Excellent vid, really creative stuff to do with fires. If you ever do go P2P, stock up on a few dozen firelighters and make a mural.
  13. There's an alching section in W1 and W2 Grand Exchanges, but my favorite is by Castlewars or in PvP so I have something to watch.
  14. Try flipping some safe items like dragon boots or other high level armor while also skilling for cash - you'll be there in no time.
  15. I'm pretty involved with the community and I run a fansite, that's the main reason I still play.
  16. I don't care about mine because skilling isn't my thing, but I'd be very interested if they had a ranking of richest players. I'm sure most people who work hard on a skill like to compare themselves to others, especially those who like skilling competitions.
  17. Anything that makes you feel good boosts your self esteem - I worked hard for months coming up with merchanting techniques during my quest for a partyhat, and I felt pretty damn good [and still do] about my accomplishment once I achieved it. Doing well and accomplishing goals in anything is good for self esteem, so RS is no exception.
  18. Looking forward to seeing the bone broach, seems like it should be a fun event!
  19. I did like the old site, but I guess the new one looks nice as well/. It is a bit easier to find things.
  20. Jagex can't let them update more frequently because they only get sold maybe once every 4 or 5 days. I was able to upgrade my phat low-half set to a high-half set by trading rising items and tokens (like the old mintcakes) up to rares like eggs and then exchanging for phats. Tricky, but it works.
  21. I don't know thi offhand, but the best way to find the street price for anything is to stand in the rares section of World Two (left of the GE gate) for five minutes.
  22. The signature/post editor should have buttons above it that can do this for you as well.
  23. It will overheat and probably die within a few months. It might not necessarily die but overheating is guaranteed. I doubt this, it looks like it's put together well. I still don';t see how it's better then a tablet, though.
  24. I agree, your side by side really drives the point home. I miss the days of old wilderness PKing adventures.
  25. Check the wiki they have pictures of guardian. They have a pretty full article on this now, I always check the wiki first when a new update comes out.
