anim7
I like this skill a lot and it is great that Jagex is trying to promote team play and strategy. Whenever I find a good team of mature players, it really makes the whole experience worthwhile. However, there are times when I have to play with selfish and completely ignorant fools who have no idea how the skill works and lack basic decency. Yes, I could play solo, but the xp/hour is much better in the later levels if I do 5:5. Therefore, to maximize my rate of leveling up, I have to play in teams. Here is where the ranting starts with the different kinds of annoying teammates. Resource hoggers: These guys take all the food even though I am the one tanking. They don't share. They also take the armor, yet never step up to be tank. Those who can't read the map: They constantly ask me where I am and what I am doing. It doesnt take a genius to figure that out. They have little memory and tend to just follow me around rather than thinking for themselves. There are plenty of times where splitting up will increase productivity, but these idiots cant seem to figure that out. Naggers: I have high skills and these players constantly bug me to make armor, etc. This is warranted if we were facing a particular boss. But why do you want range armor when you know that we are facing saggitaire? People who dont know about how dung xp works: You get lot more xp for clearing all rooms, but these people just want to beat boss and end. People that don't listen to leader: Part of the leader's responsibility is to lead the team to efficiently complete the dungeon. When I mark a monster, it is for a reason. Please abide by that. Dont kill lvl 3 bats when there is a lvl 90 shade......Also with the skeleton horde, don't hog the mat if you are low level, b/c the higher levels(those that actually kill the skeles) cant get healed. There is such a thing as having too many people fighting the boss. Note: I play in a different timezone that the majority of rs acquaintances, so I resort to world 1. 100% F2P85 Mining achieved on Dec 4, 200785 Smithing achieved on May 28, 2009

Complain as you like about Jagex, but think about what they've done. How many MMORPG designers go around to creating as complex an in-game world as Jagex? They do need to get around to making a equipable knife, though. With everyone's complaining about updates, it's amzing that there isn't a forum topic on the fact that the chat box says "You can't reach that" (as opposed to "I can't reach that!"). Toki_Hakurei
I may fall under "Resource Hogger" but it's for the sake of holding onto those resources and then dropping them off at the base for anyone else to use later mainly to prepare for that bastard boss at the end. Stommel
I'd also add to the 'can't read a map' group the ones that take 20 minutes to get to a 5-man room (like the emotes one), when it's the only door left that the team can unlock . Leaving the other 4 waiting, and wasting alot of time.... That's the information that matters to most of your fellow players. In f2p however, it is almost always worth it to do the extra rooms. Here is why. There is an added time to actually finding players for a team and starting a dungeon. In a world where there is no latency in finding teams, there might be instances in large dungeons where those extra rooms might not be worth it.It is in our best interest to reduce that overhead so that we reach a state where xp/dungeon and xp/hour is maximized. The rant here is that when I clearly know where a particular door is and heading toward it, I see "1 minute until end" which really annoys me. qeltar
Yep, to all of those complaints. I could add a dozen more. This is the ultimate problem with Jagex's crusade to make everything team-based in RS: 80%+ of RS players are not worth teaming with. Even at high levels, finding 4 reliable teammates without at least one dud is very difficult. It's a tough nut to crack, because soloing gives awful XP. But one way to at least minimize the pain is to only do teams for the large floors. Just opening doors is the room bonus. 99% of team's I've had on f2p waste time clearing rooms of monsters. If it is an alter room clear it. Guardian rooms clear it.Room before the boss clear it. Otherwise just leave rooms uncleared especially dead end rooms. I agree that teaming with strangers can suck. I've also teamed with higher level dungeon players that are clueless about how to play well.I wish there wasn't a penalty for soloing I think most people would choose to solo it. Youmu
Yeah, some dungeoneers I have met act like that. They would blindly rush into the boss, or kill monsters in rooms that aren't necessary (dead end rooms). At least this hasn't happened to me too often... W1 dungeoneering chat ftw. dargonhuman
It'd be nice if we could solo with NPC teams (like most other MMOs do). I've seen my friend solo dungeons in DDO with NPCs and it could work in RS... Granted, there'd be quite a few AI issues to deal with, but really, would it be any worse than the hordes of slack-jawed noobs we deal with now? At least AI teammates would be easier to control if they do something wrong! Part of the Star Traks network. (^^Clicky!) Irony: An amnesiac rediscovering they have an eidetic memory. sees_all1
Last night I played on a lvl 3 account - a 5:5 medium sized map. I knew I was a leech, so I tried to be as helpful as possible. When team members were on to different rooms, I went to the ones they left and collected drops - just the important stuff (coins, runes, ess, tier 4+ materials, and food). I dropped dusk eels in the base room, put the different materials next to their appropriate equipment (ores by the furnace, fibers by the wheel, ess near the altar). When the team got to the boss monsters, I collected food and dropped it just outside the boss room. I also made sure to end as soon as they asked for it, and not AFK'd. I like to think it was a mutual symbiosis. 99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me! ♪♪ Don't interrupt me as I struggle to complete this thoughtHave some respect for someone more forgetful than yourself ♪♪♪♪ And I'm not doneAnd I won't be till my head falls off ♪♪
