Where are you guys playing this?

The maptool (dungeonal posted a link a bit back) you can use a character creation calc to create a character. That reminds me SERE YOU DO NOT NEED THE HEALING DOMAIN.

For those of you who wondered why I disappeared... I was disconnected from the server and couldn't get back on.

Anyway, what's the updated map? How far did we explore?

Right. Well.

The band started out with another attack on the evil trash monsters

After almost getting hit by a grate, Ross decided to lead an expedious retreat.

After retreating the band try to work out what was odd about the well, but failed.

Then explored a house and Earth found a bag of Gold coins!

But Ross was ambushed by a member of the Dragon Below, an EYEBLADE!

However Ross and Retech managed to talk him down, before stabbing him.

The fight turned bad when a bear, seemingly kennalled in a nearby house, attacked!

Fortunately Earth had managed to find the Wizard, Tim, who was able to save the day.

As Tim explained the situation many of the members settled down to sleep.

Meaning that very few were able to arrive at the cave, where they were outnumbered.

Tim, though powerful, could not save the team without sacrifice.

Thus summoned a huge wall of Iron, which crushed him, but also three of the attackers.

The final attacker was dispatched and the team settled down after mining some crystal.

Note to anyone and everyone. Building a maptools version of Dungeoneering!

I am gonna leave it hosting(So people can build it) whenever I can(Which will be any time I am not doing Avernum), so feel free to pop along and put up some buildings, create a couple of NPCs, whatever you want, its our game.

Same pass and address, but this one will get you to GM mode rather than player.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

What would you say if I were to offer to look into (after awhile obviously) a 4e round (if I could get the map editor right I could eventually host the campaign [that is assuming my internet is not worse than ross's])

EDIT: this is also after the campaign you are planning and ross's are finished (and DEAD DEAD I SAY DEAD)

I don't really like 4e. It takes the focus off of roleplaying a bit, and turns it into "D&D Lite: The Boardgame".

Archi, what would you say if I asked that the sessions be more "Planned start and finish time"? I realise that it is slightly hypocritical of me to say so, but running as a player, it's slightly offputting that some people miss half the story because they could not get to the computer. When I was GMing, I didn't really understand how that felt, since I guess I already knew the story.

Of course, there are still timezone issues to work out, but I'm sure it can be done with a little tavern co-operation.

Again, just a suggestion.

Either Grim and Paul have to be kicked off, or Ross, Earth, Mather and Retech need to be kicked off.

The other alternative is to run two seperate sessions, which isn't gonna happen.

One of those damned if you do, damned if you don't, type of things.

The two timezones seem to be 10-12:30, verses 12:00 to 03:30. At best we can get half an hour of overlap, at worse we will waste the time we have waiting for people.

If anyone has any ideas then please say =)

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

I think it's a no Mather. XD

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time?

Puts too much pressure on Archi. Preparing these campaigns is no easy task

I just think that rewards shouldn't be given to whoever is online at the time, and split eqaully between the group. now, I don't mean we divide every single GP equally (unless everyone else wants to, of course), I just mean items like equipment, alchemical stuff, magic objects and trinkets, things like that.

Orrrrrr... Only running on Fridays and Saturdays, leaving you free to do that dungeoneering thing on other days if you so wish.

Personally, I like the weekends, but you seem to like running more often, so It's your call.

Although I like to think of it this way; Too much of a good thing makes it boring. I was always looking forward to D&D games at the weekend, after the week of work is over, which was rather nice. I ended up being pretty psyched about it on a Friday, and then we'd play from 12:00 till 3:00, which fits everyone in (Assuming Mather can hide his playing on the computer that late, although it is a weekend so he might not have to), and still allows decent session time. Again, if you want to run it every day of the week (Or most days) it's fine with me, but it does mean that almost everyone misses a part of the story and that it runs a risk of becoming slightly monotonous (I don't doubt your ability to create enticing campaigns, but playing said enticing campaigns every single night may lead to boredom).

So, options we have currently are:

[hide=Running it every day from 10:00-Whenever there are no longer enough people to play]

People wander in whenever and start playing until they can't any longer.

Positives:

Lots of sessions

Easy to set up

Doesn't matter when people show up, much.

Drawbacks:

Less organised

A lot of people miss out on story, loot and XP

Could become boring

Cannot create a scenario where a certain player needs to be there, or everything can sieze up without warning

[/hide]

[hide=Running on weekends only]

People know they are supposed to be playing, so should make some arrangements to be able to play, and if they cannot, should contact the GM and inform them beforehand.

Positives:

Everyone is there to recieve loot, story and XP.

Can plan campaigns which are better suited for RP (Since you can create them around certain characters)

Something to look forward too

No timezone issues

More campaign planning time

Drawbacks:

Far Fewer sessions

Fewer sessions

A lot less sessions per week

[/hide]

Sorry if I'm a little biased, I just think the weekend system fits everybody fairly well, and doesn't contain the same issues as a drop in - drop out system.

Just offering my advice, as per usual, no need to take it to heart without asking yourself and everyone else what they think beforehand.

me prefer the set times. because really, i love having entire campaigns based off of a charecters backstory. tis quite funny when the charecter has a "wut wut wut?" moment when its suposed to be known to them.

=) Well, lets take tonight off, we can have another session tommrow, then it will be Friday-Sunday.

I am more in favour of the '10 till everyone goes offline' system.

So...Lets merge.

Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday are game days.

Gives us three days off per week, and means that everyone will be on for 6 hours a week.

I have also been thinking of implementig a sub-quest system. If Grindstone is saved then I will populate it with people and then people can interact within it, setting various quests and such which will all take place on the local map.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Hmmm... That still leaves the problem of characters not being present for storylines which they need to be involved in. The obvious solution to this is making Monday and Tuesday "Hack n' Slash" days, with little to no story to miss, Although that still leaves the problem of XP and loot splits.

Perhaps we should ask all the players to vote between the three options? I shan't vote, obviously, but that will let us see which option the most important asset to the game prefers.

I like the grindstone subquest idea, by the way.
