Second year you took Antwerp

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time?

I prefer medieval tactics since the default strategy is not "Nuke it first, ask questions later".

Anyways, my ships should be back from China in 17 years with black powder and silk. Huzzah.

Work begins on a new variety of seige weaponry, though it wont be complete for a while yet.

Gunpowder wasn't invented yet O-o.

Because the handgun was invented in a fortnight.

Hell, muskets took like 5 minutes between shots. They're pretty much the same as the bow in that they are more or less an opening weapon only.

I think the chinese invented gunpowder around the time the game is in right now.

Besides, I need it for mining.

Try 100 years later.

'Tis I, 'tis Vindice, 'tis I!

Eh, there are documents of Saltpetre being used from like... 500 AD. My ships are still going there for silk, but now they are bringing back all documented usage of saltpetre, sulphur and other chemicals like those, which I will then base research off of.

Solved.

It will take quite a while to get gunpowder, then even longer to get military gunpowder, then even even longer to get guns.

I'm not interested in guns. I'm trying to carve a fortress into the side of a mountain to re-enact the battle from LotR. Obviously.

That and gunpowder is horrendously useful for mining.

For blackpowder you just need saltpetre, sulphur, charcoal and wax. It just needs fine tuning to become gunpowder actually.

Also arbalests are better than muskets, a proffesional can fire two bolts in a minute and a rookie can take out a knight with one shot. And it can shoot accurately very far (900m) and extremely hard (22kN).

Already researching cranequins, which I believe are similar.

But cranequins cannot mine.

5000 foot soldiers, along with 10,000 peasants marched into the cleared Slavic lands, with intent of settling the eastern gains and mining the western mountains. The soldiers, trained from the previous attack on the Slavic Tribes, are going to be putting up log walls along the new border, using wood cut by the Jews. Said jews are have now been converted into Angolists, and are working the mines and feilds in the new lands.

Meanwhile, monks are working on deciphering ancient roman texts, hoping to gain technology that the once prosperous nation held.

Ross, cranequins are just crossbows, at least according to wikipedia.

Troll, the Romans weren't great on technology, they were just smarter than everyone else (except the Greeks).

I'm surprised you didn't say the Norwegians.

The Romans were quite advanced, especially compared to 1000 AD europe.

Yeah, until they were basically pwned and I think burned, and they probably lost a lot of their manuscrpits from barbarian raids and also to the fact the pope took over and stuff could of been called heathen.

Lol, imagine how the world would have been if the vikings were the most evolved civilization.

The Romans were smart, but they didn't really invent many physical things, only better ways to use them.

On a somewhat-unrelated-but-also-related note, Red Dead Redemption is an epic game.

Agreed.

You underestimate his influence in our school...

He knows EVERYONE. And is probably friends with them on both Facebook and in real life.

No one hates Tech, no one even dislikes him. Unless, of course, he emulates Bill Clinton any further than he already has...

Shame on you, Retech, dancing with that She-Devil! I expect an explanation.
