Which one's more pathetic? Putfile or Putfile?

That's very, very lame of Putfile.

haha, thats pretty funny. im not against the death penalty, and i think it was a bad business decision, so thats two things i think they did wrong. but its still funny.

Its one thing to be against the death penalty.. but to go so far and restrict any use of your services in a country that might happen to use a particular version you don't agree with is just plain lame.

Naw, you guys are all missing the point. Putfile can't hope to change Singapore, and they know that. They're just a company, they don't have any international power. This is just a statement. I respect that.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Maybe it is bad policy to mix politics with business, but in this case I am on Putfile's side. I am not against the death penalty, but hanging is a bit extreme. As they say, it can take 6 minutes to kill the victim. Also, I don't know the specifics of the case, but it appears that Singapore ignored international efforts at diplomacy. I'm sure there is more to the story, but basically they hanged a foreigner despite international pleas. Singapore is thus at fault two different ways: in using a barbaric style of execution and in refusing to heed diplomatic requests.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is clearly Putfile's view. Not only that, but they can afford to cut off service. Now, I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that Singapore goes very heavy on their math/science/engineering, so probably there are a fair number of internet nerds who use Putfile. This will come across to them as a strong statement, and maybe awareness about the issue will be raised a little bit. The population as a whole might not hear much, but it is foolish to say that Putfile's actions will be completely ignored and ineffective.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Maybe it's bad business sense, but Putfile is actually taking a stand and making an effort. To me, it shows that Putfile is not just "in it for the money," like everybody else, if you know what I mean.

Who determines what constitutes a "serious crime"? It's all a matter of opinion and culture plays a huge part in it.

You don't consider smuggling a TON of drugs into a country a serious crime? :?

and that TON of drugs were 25 TIMES of that needed for a death penalty in Singapore.

Lame. To be of an opinion is one thing, to attempt to punish the citizens of an entire country because the majority there is of another opinion is nothing short of idiocy. In Singapore they have harsher punishments and not as harsh in the U.S. And obviously you dont have to do as much in singapore to get the death penelty as you have to do in the U.S. What part of that dont you get?

He dealt drugs. You just said it. You might as well say he killed a lot of people and they would mean the same. Why would someone who deals drug be jailed? At least if he murders a person, that's only 1. Dealing the drugs he had (which was a LOT considering the countries' reaction) would have killed a lot more than one person.
