Well I had to come up with SOMEthing, else dungeonal would've kept going with the "run at it angrily" approach until he finally got chucked into a pointy rock and died. And Dungeonal, don't put words in my mouth.

Team Whatevermatherwantstocallit

Mather uses the dirk as a light course (good call there) and finds another catapult trap and dodges it when it triggers. He then slices it into little bits. +0.1 agility

Earth finds that the copper vein goes even further, but would require more digging and a better pick. And all of Dungeonal's stuff is kinda buried under a ton of rock.

Team Maplewise

The caster manages to clamber out of the tree... and miscasts yet again, except this time it's a wolf that gets chucked into a tree. Wolf 2 is now unconscious.

The warrior beheads the last moving wolf, then also beheads the unconscious wolf. +0.1 swords

You won the battle! +0.2 strength and speed to warrior and mage.

Team Trinity

Yeah, the alligators are toast.

Isabel tries to heal Alisa with magic, but only ends up opening the wounds further.

Jen makes a second layer of ice palisade spikes. +0.2 ice.

Another pair of swamp alligators approach the group, wind their way around the spikes, and bite Jen in the arm, severing an artery.

I collect the wolf furs, and get the mage to heal the warrior, then continue further east.

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

Oh, I thought the spikes were surrounding them.

Isabel tries to summon tentacles of darkness to rip and claw at the alligators (Hooray, Icu's tactics), while Jen fires her ice shards that she was saving. Then she tries to enchant her elemental staff into a long-handled staff mace, and smashes at the alligators with that. Elisa tries to burn through the alligators with highly concentrated light beams.

:o Wizard, please.

My tactic may have involved tentacles, but they generally involved impalement, if that failed a darkness field that made the opponent blind and made them unable to move cause the shadows around them hold them in place. At higher levels you can attempt to solidify the shadows to form a darkness prison, kind of what I did to you.

Though ripping apart might of been something I did, I dunno, I just loved the hell out of tentalces ;-)

Isabel miscasts, and instead blows the alligators' skin away with a temporary portal to the plane of darkness. The portal only lasts a second, though, and vanishes before you can do anything else regarding it. +0.1 dark.

Jen uses her ice enchant to turn her staff into an ice polemace. It glows with a slightly flourescent bright blue. Jen then turns to strike at the alligators, and instead sees a pair of alligator skeletons.

Elisa is still out, and bleeding badly... 5 turns till death.

A band of swamp raccoons lemming-stab themselves on the ice spikes. And all is quiet again in the swamp... (No more hostile encounters for a bit)

+2 alligator corpses, +5 raccoon corpses, +2 alligator skeletons

Team Maplewise

Icu extracts furs from 2 of the wolves - the other twos' furs are torn to shreds. +0.2 skinning.

The wizard heals the warrior's severed artery. +0.1 healing magic.

a70c7.png

Wait, so they're dead?

Jen finishes making spikes of ice around them in a complete circle, while Isabel tries to heal Elisa again. Then Jen skins the raccoons, saving their pelts. After that, she tries to skin the alligators for valuable alligator skins as well. Finally, Isabel/Healed Elisa attempt to turn the four alligator skeletons remaining into alligator skeleton pets! (Like moving ones) The skeletons are outside the spike wall when this happens.

Jen finishes the spikecircle, making difficult to get anything in or out.

Isabel fails to heal Elisa again. 4 turns till death.

Jen miserably fails at skinning the raccoons, and cuts her thumb in the process. However, she has more lucks with one of the alligators, and manages to extract the pelt whole. The other alligator was far too mangled to have a worthy skin.

Isabel reanimates the two skeletons. One of them remains hostile and lunges at Elisa, but promptly has its neck snapped by the other alligator, who then circles Elisa like an overprotective watchdog. +0.1 dark to Isabel.

(I figured you may want to gut the other alligators first...)

Jen and Isabel work on healing Elisa and themselves, while the pet alligator keeps watch. Its name will be Flossom. Then they gut the alligators which aren't pets. Meanwhile, Jen creates magical ice javelins, which Elisa and Isabel each enchant half of them with their magic.

Jen manages to freeze Elisa's wounds shut, and she regains consciousness. +0.2 ice. (Took you long enough to figure out that dark mage healing light mage wouldn't exactly work. Opposite elements and all that.)

Elisa then chooses to rebel a bit and use her enchant on the alligator. It begins glowing a bit, and its eye sockets glow grey. Soon, its skin, bones and flesh grow back in a grey, semitransparent form. It has become Flossom, the Alligator of Balance! +0.5 light.

The three of them together gut the remaining alligators, and get 2 pieces of uncooked gator meat and some gator intestines. +0.1 skinning all around.

Jen manages to create an ice pole sticking 20 feet out of the floor instead of an ice javelin. Whoops.

a70c7.png

Bwahahaha.

Isabel adds her enchant to the alligator, so it actually becomes balance. (Since she just raised it with dark and Elisa used her enchant, so it would evne out if Isabel added her enchant. It was sorta bugging me a bit. Does it have any magical properties?)

After all of that, the party travels away from the swamp to some sort of road, so that they could possibly meet a travelling merchant.

The alligator is balanced. Raised with darkness, then imbued with light. Isabel need not use her enchant on that.

The group begins to realize that Jen's spike wall, while protecting them from the critters in the swamp, has also basically trapped them.

Suddenly, a fireball flies out of the mist, melting some of the ice wall! The fog parts, and a figure strides forth....

"My name is..... well, I think it was Grim or something like that."

Grim then proceeds to tell about how he woke up one day in the swamp with a fire staff, not knowing who, what, or where he was, and how he survived on toasted alligator and swamp rats. He then asks to join you....

Do you accept?

We welcome him aboard, but I need to think of a new team name. Anyhow, the team heads to town again where they started and follows one of the roads. (Off for the night, thanks Stork. :P)

You welcome Grim aboard. He will be an NPC in your group when I can be bothered to post the team statsheets.

You all then proceed to get horribly lost in the swamp. You hear a low growling ahead...

Hey retech any chance I can join your group as Grim? (Team magi possibly?)

LNYvk.png

holy [cabbage] i only just realised stork != spork, they both have VERY similar avatars and names so yeh oops

'Tis I, 'tis Vindice, 'tis I!

Sure Grim. If you planned to be playing a lot though, maybe we could figure out a way to have two groups that work together most of the time?

Mather manages to scavenge a few odds and ends from the trap's remains, then starts digging Dungeonal out. Remarkably, he hears coughing from under the pile. It seems Dungeonal lives! +0.1 scavenging, +busted trap parts

(Yeah, sorry about going overboard with the K.Os. Only human here, and I realized that the person I was going to have you fight was not exactly at your level. So I had to get rid of him somehow, and having him fly out of the cave and ping between all your heads was just too amusing of a prospect to resist.)

Team Trinity

So Grim is no longer an NPC? Okay then.

And the main point of this game is to make it playable with only one player on, since that player controls the whole group, it moves the plotline further along much more nicely.

(Oh, I was just playing this like group Dungeoneering. Jen is my main anyhow, and it seemed simpler to fight enemies with a party than each person doing their thing)

Isabel enchants her staff, so that it becomes a polemace as well. However, the goal is that it can form and reform like the darkness, so that it can bypass a parry and then reform to inflict the wound. Grim also enchants his staff, so that it becomes a flaming polemace kinda thing. Jen's polemace is hopefully one that can change forms, while Elisa can hopefully use her staff to control the alligator. (So each of them has a nice ability)

Then Jen makes ice spikes (keep in mind they're pointed outwards, so they should be easy to get out of). They use their respective attack styles (Ice shards, fire balls, light beams, tentacles of darkness) and then their polemaces for close range when the enemies get near.

Actually, now that I think about it...

May I join your party too, Retech? Or actually, maybe Grim and I could be a two-man party accompanying you?

I think I'll be an allomancer. Though geomancer and sound mage are certainly options. Hrm, what do you guys think?
