September 16, 201015 yr I wouldn't say he was a boring drummer, just pretty overrated. Along the same lines as Joey Jordison.Not much of a Dream Theater fan. They were one band I couldn't sit and listen to for any length of time. September 17, 201015 yr Portnoy has been playing the same fill since '91 and DT should have cashed in the chips long ago. My sister, who is the biggest DT fan I have ever met, walked out of their show last spring. As far as I'm concerned, Portnoy could never touch a kit again and I wouldn't care at all. He wrote a lot of their stuff, if I'm not wrong, so they'll probably sound quite different. I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr
