stevepole
I've decided to pick up swimming as something new to mix into my daily workouts. Not to mention I always happen to run into a my friends at the gym and thats seems to be what they're always doing, so I kind of said to myself, why not? I'm going tomorrow or Thursday and pick up a some goggles and a proper suit (probably jammers). Does anyone have any advice or friendly tips as I begin venture into swimming? Jeffwilson99
I like swimming, causally at the beach or pool, but I'm not a particularly strong swimmer. I think lot's of it comes down to practice, especially getting lessons as a kid, which I didn't exactly have many of.

Pinkbullet3
Did you know that if you hum underwater, air automatically comes out of your nose? Go ahead, try humming and then plugging your nose. That being said, if you have trouble breathing underwater (i.e. keep getting water up your nose), just hum. Especially useful when you're doing flipturns (and make sure you learn the proper way to do a flip turn -- that is -- coming into the wall and using a big butterfly kick to propel you into the flip; do not stick your arms out to the sides to flip; slows you down and defeats the purpose of a true flip turn). And have fun! :D ^ Blog.

But in 2011 my gym is supposed to move into a new facility with a pool and I may consider picking it up if all the babes do as well.
Pianokid13
This is actually a great idea. I just might consider adding swimming to my workout as well.
Estonian dude
Swimming is basically the only sports to use all muscles. I used to be great at swimming 7-8 years ago, went on competitions and stuff... Since then I have moved away from that place and I am not that good anymore, but I can still hold my own anywhere. So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.I strike out every other week.Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.Randox pretty much stays rational.Etc, etc

Duff
My college has a pool with 5 lanes for laps. Freshman year I didn't utilize it much because I couldn't do flip-turns, and figured only the kids who were really good at swimming used the pool. But I found it that's not the case, so I've planned to make it a habit to swim for exercise everyday when I get back to college. I sure hope it does me good. | My Tumblr |
