That aside, if there is or ever will be some reasonable method of research, I am leaving the Unity. Dusty is an almighty [puncture] who won't stop messing things for you even when he's not an adversary, and the Unity command structure is composed of logistical incompetents. As for the rest of the crew, they're either next-to-useless resource drains or too trigger-happy to approach combat in an intelligent fashion. Ok, well, not all of them. But most of the regulars.

 

I'm inclined to just go on Asgard with comms-lizard.

To be honest, I don't think Nero totally wants to destroy us, he stated that he is just doing a mission and will only attack us if we attack him, so in my mind if we just let him be it'll all be okay. In fact it wouldn't be so bad to be at least slightly friendly to Germa- w/e the hell.

Yeah.. No, Faust, you shouldn't be talking. I may have died in combat because of technical details I wasn't aware of, but still, i;m good at combat. I know that going 'SUICIDE RUSH' on everything doesn't work. When we get Stutter transporters, I swear I will get as many ships jacked as freaking possible.. But, I need upgrades to my stealth, and some of my weaponry.

May I sugguest a different playing style for the next session? Either dividing it into ships or using one main chat where only SI posts other than announcements, and actions and such are done by private messages. I do see that it might not be the best way, but it beats knowing one's opponents moves before they do them and tech espionage (learning the specifics of non-researched techs by watching as they're made).

 

Also, I love the chemical programming puzzles, please do more of them.

But no, Lofwyr (who you all call Monty) does not desire the role of Captain, as he views himself as a liason officer from Asgard which is in its opinion a loosely aligned protectorate (that type of thing tends to happen when you insist on absolute control of resources and then totally ignore the place). Currently the Asgard is loosely affiliated with the Unity due to them showing mostly indifference to the conditions aboard the Asgard as opposed to the Germanicus's open aggression and scorched earth tactics, Alpha Prospekt is largely non considered due to the fact that almost nothing is known about it aboard the Asgard.

Depending on the conditions in the new system, it might be interesting to see a sort of 2025 thing going on. A sort of rather more ideal than usual black-market mentality, sort of scrappy ships, more ground combat, and so on. Sort of 'as humanity rebuilds' and our relations with any native beings and Dusty's motley crew, when and if they arrive.

I'm not going to be taking that job. I'd make us lose the Unity, for certain. Maybe Faust, if he isn't going to be a high handed jerk about it,( And other things, which may or may not be related to memories of SUE...) but i'd more likely follow Monty (Since it's easier to remember as a name) because he has a clean slate.

I would say Icu is probably the best option, else I'd nominate myself, I know to keep expensive stuff out of harm's way and I'm neither likely to settle down somewhere nor build ships just to send them everywhere at once. I'd try to be fair and actually stop people from picking on eachother... yes Faust, that is aimed at you... Though I get if you don't trust it to be safe under my control.

I vote a new system until a captain becomes obvious.

 

This is seriously bad timing for Ross to stand down, as tensions rise as a new captain takes over, and as it is obviously apparent none of us see someone as a superior, then none of us are going to okay with the new captain.

 

So perhaps a democracy based system until someone proves their worth? Or perhaps we all run a simulation to take a captain test, and find who's the most eligible.

Gavrill issues forgotten, ICU might make a fair Captain. He might give the Unity purpose, whereas I would serve as little more than a manager. Honestly Ross has always been the best choice, and Nero in the beginning, but the former seems to dislike his post and the latter is obviously not a choice.

 

EDIT: A Democracy may work, ICU, but I feel like there might be unforeseen issues.
