3. Which Set To Get?

 

 

 

So you have decided you want a barrows set, but the question is: WHICH ONE??? This really depends on what you want to use it for. Below you will find the uses of each set and where and why to use them. LET Me just say this now, if you do not need any of the special effects, get Full torag with a whip and an obsidian sheild.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

~Mixed Sets~

 

 

 

If youre looking for the best possible mixed set the setup should be like this:

-Guthan Body (Same defense as torag or dharok body but +5 more range defense bonus)

 

 

 

-Dharok or torag legs (Same defense)

 

 

 

-Torag or guthan Helm (Same defense)

 

 

 

-Abyssal Whip (Best weapon for non set effects)

 

 

 

-Dragon or obsidian sheild (Dragon gives better defense but obsidian give +5 streangth bonus)

Now onto the complete sets:

 

 

 

TORAG THE CORRUPTED: This is THE set to get for pking. Why? Beacuse its special reduces your opponent's run energy by 20%. This is good for those little noobies who try to run away from a fight. Although if you dont want to go pking for the risk of losing it, this set is pointless to get unless you substitute the hammers with a whip and a sheild. This set has the best defence in the game, so if you want a good all around set, get Torag with a whip.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

GUTHAN THE INFESTED: This set is particulary good for fighting high level monsters, training, and even duelling if you have good stats. This set actually has the best effect of them all: LEECHING! Yes you heard me right-Leeching. When this special takes effect, if you hit damage that turn, you will be healed equally to the damage you gave. For example: If you hit a 19 when this special takes effect, you just earned yourself a free shark!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DHAROK THE WRETCHED: This set is good if you are willling to take a risk. As your health gets lower, your strength increases. So if your HP is at full, you may hit a 20. But when your hp is at say 10, you may hit a 40! This set is risky unless you know how to use it. This set is good for duelling, PKing, and training. HIGH PRAYER RECCOMMENDED IF YOU PLAN ON TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THIS SET EFFECT!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

VERAC THE DEFILED: This is a set good only for duelling, and Kalphite queen killing. The effect has a chance to break through your opponent's armor. First of all, some things need to be understood: 1)THIS SET DOES NOT BREAK THROUGH PRAYER. 2) THIS SET WORKS AGAINST THE KQ BECAUSE HER PRAYER COUNTS AS ARMOR. 3) THIS EFFECT DOESNT WORK ON ANY NPC OTHER THAN THE KQ!!! This set also has an awesome prayer bonus, probably the best in the game! If you plan on duelling alot, this is the set to get.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

AHRIM THE BLIGHTED: This set is good when pking against meleers. This is because this Set's effect has a chance to reduce your opponents STRENGTH. Good when maging high level Warriors (Although most magers just use the bind method).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

KARIL THE TAINTED: This is also a very good pking set. Not only against people who run away, but also in the Wilderness agility course! This is because this special effect has a chance to reduce your opponent's Agility by 20%. And, lets face it: IF YOU DONT HAVE HIGH AGILITY, YOU CANT RUN FOR LONG!

4. ADVICE ON HOW AND WHEN TO USE

 

 

 

Below is my advice on how and when to use these sets to get the most out of them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

TORAG THE CORRUPTED: If your pking, keep using torag set until the effect has worked about 5-6 times. By this time your opponent willl have little to no energy. Then just take out a DD(s) or a WHIP and beat the crud out of them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

GUTHAN THE INFESTED: When using this set, if you dont want to use the spear as a main weapon, just keep using a whip until you have about half your life left, then attack with the spear until you are up to full HP, and repeat.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DHAROK THE WRETCHED: I reccommend you bring food or prayer pots when "Dharoking". Especially prayer pots. Just let your monster get you to 8-15hp (I RECCOMMEND YOU KNOW YOUR MONSTER'S MAX HITS BEFORE YOU DO THIS!!!), put on protect prayer, and swing away!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

VERAC THE DEFILED: There is no real strategy here, but the higher your attack level, the higher chance you have of hitting your opponnent, so Attack Pots are always helpful!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

AHRIM THE BLIGHTED: A good strategy here is to keep using full ahrims until the special takes effect, then switch to a staff that gives you infinite runes of whatever spell your using. (The ahrim special does not lower strength more than once at a time!)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

KARIL THE TAINTED: Here, the strategy is to use the special about 5-6 times, and then switch to a crystal bow. If you dont have a crystal bow, the best bow is Karils crossbow, so just keep using it.

I would definitely not pk with a torags set.... :? Maybe top+bottom torags, but i would use whip and dds and obs shield and berserker helms for those slots.

well if you are very rich (100M+) take all of that, and use effect only until your opponenets energy is low, then sqwitch to whatever you would like.

Something I caught.... you said Verac hits through prayer (You meant armor) and then you said it doesn't hit through prayer, and very good info on KQ prayer situation. Not many ppl know that its not REALLY a prayer, just a super high defense in those classes. Just a typo. Hehe.

no, it has been confirmed by MOD PETER that veracs does not break through prayer. And the only reason it has a prayer bonus, is to make up for have the worst defence stats out of all 4 melee sets.

Oh sry, i have Guthan's and the only att style you didn't need was Guthan's. Wish I still had Ahrim's staff....

Verac DOES cut through prayer. Forget what the Jagex mods say. If you can hit 30 with verac, then you'll still be able to hit 30 if protect from melee is on.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ahrim's set lowers str moret han once at a time. It lowers it by 5 each time untill it reaches 0 and it can become linked. When linked it will continually lower str untill you break your attacks.

Alright...as an experienced dueler, pray-er, and castle war-er, allow me to present the Myweponsgood myth-buster to misconceptions about prayer:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. "OMG 30 with prayer on?! That means he hit a 60!!!"

 

 

 

WRONG: The protection prayers do NOT cut the damage dealt in half. These prayers just severely lower the chances of hitting. With full Torag and a Whip, I OFTEN times hit 28s in Castle Wars on people who are using protect from melee. Now, I know for a fact that there is no possible way to hit a 56 with an Abyssal Whip.

 

 

 

Also, with protect from magic on, I am still able to hit 20s fairly easily with Ice Blitz, while in full mage gear. If the damage was halfed, my max would become a 13.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. "OMG Verac doesn't hit through prayer, NOOB!"

 

 

 

WRONG: Verac set hits through the protection from Melee prayer (and also through armor, of course). ANYONE who duels (on a regular basis) with Verac set will KNOW that this one is wrong. In every duel with someone that has a Verac set, they will try to get prayer on. This is because the melee protection prayer does not have any effect on the hit chance of Verac.

 

 

 

Also, anyone who spends a fair ammount of time at the fight pits will know that protect from melee does nothing against Verac. For anyone who doubts this, I will gladly duel you a couple of times untill you are convinced that Verac hits through prayer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Thus concludes another episode of Myth-Busters: The Myweponsgood Edition. By the way, I have used ALL of the Barrows sets in a PVP scenario, and your strategies are...well...fairly accurate I guess. Karil crossbow is much better than a crystal bow in my opinion though...

Oh...and by the way, the Verac set effect works on any NPC that has armor, as far as I know. If this is not the case, it at LEAST also works on the barrows brothers. I own them with my Verac :)
