Led-Zeppelin
Ok, so theres been guitarist, drummer and everything else, maybe has been vocalist, but I scanned the last 5 pages of topics and couldn't find it. So don't flame me! This one will probably end up being purely who your favourite is, because theres nothing to measure how awesome someones voice is. Well, for me, will probably be Freddie Mercury, will never be another voice quite like his. Silky smooth.
Bubsa
We're definately just talking about the voice here? No lyricism or what have you? For me, although Sinatra is a close second, the person I believe to have had the best voice ever is Nat King Cole. Oh my word, he has the voice that can gently lull you to sleep and yet, in his repetoire, he can get so much soul and meaning out of a few words it gives you the goolies. Love him. I'm decided on that. NKC FTW :P This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.

Simpleskills04
Not the best singer out there but Jonathan Davis's voice back from the Issues era still gives me tingles.
AThousandLies
Not the best singer out there but Jonathan Davis's voice back from the Issues era still gives me tingles. I'd say Maynard James Keenan of Tool and A Perfect Circle, or Mike Patton of Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Fantomas and a bunch of other bands. He is one of the most diverse vocalists I've ever heard. Chino Moreno of Deftones and Team Sleep would be somewhere up there too.

Necromagus
I kinda need a frame here, maybe by genre. There are just a lot of good vocalists out there that fit brilliantly with their genre, but would sound mediocre at best outside the box. I guess I'll just go with the best metal vocalist I know, Tony Kakko. Probably one of the few (metal) vocalists that can bring me to tears with a good ballad. Only other guy i had in mind was Matt Bellamy from Muse, if only for his range. Kirk and Lars I could handle. At the same time.
Little_Nin
Shane Macgowan is the best voice in rock no questions asked. Period. His cover of "And the band played waltzing matilda" is definately the best rock vocal recording ever made. The entire album "If I should fall from grace with god" features the greatest rock vocals ever as he's young and pissed off, he has a brilliant voice, and the alchohol and drugs havent completely slurred him out yet so you can still understand him. But in terms of greats singer ever, it's easily bob marley, he sounds like a prophet of god, and in his home country he even controlled the government with his songs. No other singer has had as much talent and influence as Bob Marley
hohto
Personally I like Varg Vikernes from Burzum and Maniac from Mayhem. Vikernes (the only member of Burzum) has pretty raw voice, specially on the first Burzum albums. Maniac sings on Mayhem albums made after their legendary De Mysteriis dom Sathanas. He sounds pretty much like a man gorgling when he's duying. I gave my vote to them, because it really fits to their music. Black metal isn't a fun and entertaiming stuff, it's raw, brutal and it either takes everything or nothing from you. If you want a clear voice, then probably Tarja Turunen from (ok, ex) Nightwish. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm

AThousandLies
Only other guy i had in mind was Matt Bellamy from Muse, if only for his range. True, Matt Bellamy is a very talented vocalist. He's the only I've heard who can reach those high notes (like on Showbiz) but at the same time sing in a mellow tone without sounding like [cabbage]. Incod
Screaming- Billy Werner- Ex. Saetia, now lead singer of Hot Cross. BEST Screaming vocalist EVER, Absolutely beautiful. Download "Venus and Bacchus" or... Nathan Prater (Love Lost But Not Forgotten) Ryan Zimmerman (Greely Estates) Cory Popp (Kodan Armada) Tony Kakko (Sonata Artica) Tarja (Nightwish) Kimberly Goss (Sinergy) Some personal Favorites Are. Alexi Laiho- Children of Bodom Tomas "Quorthon" Forsberg- Bathory Celine Dion- LOL and I just started listening to this band... *I KNOW THEY ARE NOT BLACK METAL.* I have preached against them for years, I know they are terrible, I know their music sales are based off of image, on and on and etc... But I do enjoy the Vocals, Its just a personal choice... and if you want to flame me, YOU CAN. I probably deserve it, hehe.. How2PK
Freddie Mercurry Bob Dylan - he might not have such a good voice, but he's a good singer. Frank Sinatra That dude from Linkin Park, chester, or what is his name? His voice is pretty good as well, if he really sings live that is. Mariah Carey has a good voice I think. Aretha Frankin is nice aswell. Some others. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! I would've said Plant, but I wanted to pick just one, and I don't class him as one of the best sounding voices, but very very powerful. :D
