____
Are you joking? I'd say that most of the people who post in this forum have built their own computer.
Necromagus
It's not exactly a spectacular feat... now buiding your own computer parts, that would be impressive :P My Tip.It Times Articles (10 and counting) || The Varrock Library Author Index projectDo you dare to dream? - Part 19 added. || The Hospital (WIP) - New story!Necromagus looks like a viking ... with glasses. Mercifull
Theres probably pre-teens on this forum that have built their own PC's. Its not exactly rocket science. Its no difference to lego really. You have all the bits and just fit it all together. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. jammy316
I haven't built my own PC 'yet', I've upgraded this one and probably building my first in Feb.
Greatsilverwyrm
It's not exactly a spectacular feat... now buiding your own computer parts, that would be impressive :P You mean you don't? I haven't used a computer in years that didn't have a "homegrown" graphics card. ATI can shove it, I'll take my pile of resistors and duct tape any day. ;)
dragonst0rm
I can build a copmputer but i have not yet. I dont have the money to buy the parts. But my mum built a computer for work with to h-d's can not rember the specks of it as it was years ago wen she built it.

Stuart_G
I wish i could have a computer like that... Its even got an external hard drive! Building computers isnt a very hard thing to do. Ive never built a computer from scratch, but i have upgraded my familys computer and ive worked with them during work experience. As some one else mentioned, its like lego in a way, theres a place for every thing and they just snap in. But youve got to be careful about static, dont want to zap your parts and ruin them while your putting things together.

chucko4
How much would I save building my own? I'm not looking for anything amazing but I'd like no lag with camtasia on, or multiple programs. ~Old School Scaper~
weezcake
Well first you'd save on the labor and on those dumb programs that come with the computer that you never use (yes, I believe those jack up the price). Even if you don't save any money, you'd still get a much better computer. ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring. Aldeon
No piracy its my side job besides working at outback and DJing friday nights sometimes.........I'm a freelance web designer (flash, html, and php), scripter (perl, java, C++), audio, video, none of my software is illegal. Main reason i was able to do this is i started with lots of money as my dad is rich I hate any kind of piracy...i even hate it when people take images off google and use them in their sigs, i hate even using stock photography. And i help keep my dads site up by running mine as an alternate web server at home incase theirs goes down I dont have a particular salary and i dont wanna give out my exact income but my income (not including taxes ) is...... Income > $75,000.....might i add i'm only 16 guess inherit the business leader qualities and knowledge from my dad. Im veering away from DJ-ing and working at outback to help advertise my dads company and bring in more big name companies and hopeful set up an advertising agency I'm pretty busy and it comes with a good deal of stress but still manage to have my free time apart from my job(s), school, sleep and g/f. Which is main reason im about to quit the boards entirely as my grades are slipping. And my parents said if i dont get them back up i lose internet privelages which will destroy most of my revenue sources

Thats 2,000gb. I can hardy fill up a 160gb hard drive :? . Given the fact that motherboards of that time had 4 hard drive connectors, maximum, that'd mean he would have needed 500GB drives. Which didn't exist two-three years ago. Hence, he's lying. Medium server-class systems of that time (which would have Intel Xeon processors, not pentium 4's) barely had the amount of RAM mentioned, and nowhere near 2TB of HDD space. My school bought two servers back then, each with 3.6Ghz processing power provided by dual Xeon chips, and one with 1Gb and the other with 1.5GB RAM. Both servers used six 120GB harddrives (hot-swappable), to a combined storage space of 720GB, which is less than half of what he's mentioning. Oh, and I fail to see how a 13-year old would manage to glas-blow a pyramid, much less, how to insert a computer inside it without breaking it. I think the guy means see-through plastic, if this isn't all made up as well.
smile_or_die1000
There are people out there like me. (my first subject... two posts... i'm very lucky.) Anyway, many people think that building a computer is difficult. They think that u have to be a genius to do so. I try to educate people on computers by telling them the following: It's like LEGO's people!!! all u do is put the big stuff into the big box and connect a few cables! however, some people don't believe me. :D well... thx for letting me know that there are people out there like me... and ill try that computer in a cardboard box thing. It'll be a project that i can show everyone at school. (Also thinking about learning game design. Any tutorials out there on the internet that I should know about, or do i have to take the straight and narrow college route?)
