Are you on a slayer task? slayer helm + sol + arc stream + chaos gaunts might do the trick with fire bolt... but i would try range before mage.... i don't play psykick anymore... i play 2ed: "pure fett" 26081 to get 99 herblore

November 17, 201015 yr I'm afraid I can't reccomend magic unless you use the highest level spell you can, but I'm not sure if you can afford that seeing as you can't afford a cannon. November 17, 201015 yr In regards to this task, I would think anything that minimizes the cost is better for Specters. They have huge profit. Using runes minimizes the chance of some really great profit. If it were me, I'd stick to melee. There are plenty of other tasks that are worth maging.

November 17, 201015 yr I maged a few abberant spectre tasks when i went for 99 mage and fire surge is quite accurate on them. As said above, it takes roughly 5-6 casts to kill one. They have more mage defence than abby demons, but they are still a good task to mage.
November 17, 201015 yr Just mage tasks with monsters that have low magic defence (and high melee defence). Profit doesn't have anything to do with whether it's good to mage a task or not. I would mageabby demonsmetal dragsblack demons... A Guide to Chinning in Ape atoll: up to 325kxp/h!

November 18, 201015 yr It's good you've given some experience on maging them, I myself am mage slaying rather often, just for the mage exp and fun (really don't care bout efficiency at this moment), and at times it's seriously better than melee/range. Achieved quest (07/08/2009), woodcutting (28/06/2010), attack (21/07/2010), strength + constitution (07/08/2010), defence (26/09/2010), summoning (13/01/2011), herblore (03/03/2011), cook (31/08/2012), firemaking (01/09/2012), magic (08/09/2012), prayer (16/09/2012) and ranged (29/10/2012) capes.
