obfuscator
Immigrants, both legal and illegal, take all kinds of jobs - "good" jobs as much as "bad" ones. I agree with nick, short of actually building that huge wall and dedicating 100% of the military to border defense the states will never manage to keep out a large percentage of illegals. Not necessarily - it depends on who is immigrating. In the United States, immigrants from places like China and India are disproportionately educated such that most which come are doctors or engineers. This is in contrast to immigrants from Central America and Mexico, who tend to be uneducated, taking unskilled laborer jobs. Jobs taken by immigrants are not universal. It depends on a number of factors.

Shiny
I have no qualm over the job issue - I would much rather a higher qualified and ultimately better Chinese doctor administered to me and was an illegal immigrant, than a poorly qualified citizen doctor. So... I'm very mixed on the immigration issue, I am with it both ways. Like someone else stated, if a Chinese or (stereotype alert:) Indian Dr was more qualified to serve as my Dr, I would rather have them. But on the other side, I also think we should treat illegals very harshly, because at our unemployment rate, there are still many many jobs Americans who are here rightfully would love to have, but are taken by illegal immigrants. Also, the first sentence was a joke. I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. Arcantica
can't blame the illegals themselves, it's the people who actually hire them who are to blame for everything. Tougher punishments for businesses and people who hire illegals is probably the only thing that would control it. A fine and a slap on the wrist just isn't going to set any examples. I don't see any reason to try to focus on physically trying to stop people from entering. The bigger the fence you build, the higher they will just jump lol. I can't stand how most of the anti-immigration protesters end up focusing their hate on the people who are coming here themselves, more than the people they give them jobs in the first place. Anyone of us here would do whatever we had to, to provide for our families. Even if it meant sneaking into another country to work. 2001-2006 the fourth and last legit 123 on classic123 classic/137 rs2 Native American Pride

das1330
Should the United States kick out Asylum seekers? What if deporting them would cause them to get capital punishment? In the United States asylum seekers are not a major issue - relatively few exist, and those that do exist generally have very good reason for being in the country. People illegally entering the country to work are the issue here.

das1330
Perhaps. I think you would be correct. however, it may because citizens from there tend to be more... Law abiding. Immigrants, regardless of their country of origin, tend to be generally more law abiding then the general population. Just a flair for the dramatic then. Although im sure someone from the UK, or Germany would have an easier time immigrating to the US then someone from Mexico, Afganistan, or China. I think this is partially because of racism, ~ just an opinion with no evidence to support it. Generally speaking no they do not have an easier time. Immigration to the United States is based upon skill and education - the more talented you are the easier it is to get in the country. True stars like major-league athletes, Nobel prizewinning professors etc have a ridiculously easy time immigrating to the US, while professional people (doctors, engineers etc) have it slightly harder. Only unskilled workers IE laborers are generally barred from the country, and even then the immigration lottery still provides for occasional slots.
