I've been using tempest beams since level 5, so it should be pretty easy by now at level 19.

Indeed, but for all you know there could be a powerful boss waiting behind the gate, save the more powerful magic for fights.

That's the thing, I want to use my magic for more things. I've spent the past four or five sessions searching in a futile quest for immortality, and I haven't used my magic once.

 

My character is mainly about self-reliance. There must be some magic at her disposal that she could use to get through any obstacle. Do you know if I can just fly over the gate?

I dunno if you can, but I most certainly can as long as the air up at the top of it is not so thin that I pass out.

Mather, Earth is on an avatar release spree to try to stop the apocalypse... Everyone is basically on the same storyline at this point, which is "Stop the apocalypse"

Mather, I basically flew over the ocean. I think that's harder than flying over a wall + I have a large ice wyvern that does the flying for me. Ya know, flying the regular way.

The easiest and fastest way to pass through the gate might be to just let me fly over it and make a portal through. Though it would be even faster just to turn it into something non-solid, like water.

Well, I was spending my time trying to become a lich and defeating the old gods, before I learned that it was Scion that we were supposed to defeat. (Progress?) On the other hand, I think I released Scion. So now, I am going to the library to prepare my magics and do some research on Scion, to figure out how to defeat him.

 

And you were doing that Eldritch thing.

I was like half the way there, and I clearly had the capacity to fly across. I wasn't in "dire straits" or anything, which was kinda annoying because you went ahead with the portal even though I didn't want you to do it.

Retech, the only thing I did to get the Eldrich powers was to kill a monster that Ross warned me could be too tough after I fled enprisonement in an unusual way. If that was a story arc planned by him, them he must have known exactly what I was going to do, because I could just as well have walked a few kilometers in the void and gone back out without doing anything.

Mather, to answer your first question, they are making discoveries because they are actually trying to advance their storylines. I tried to coax you into doing the same, but your first thought upon entering the deliberately towering and ominous city was "Let's go to the magic store and stare at wands for half an hour".

 

To answer the second, it wasn't planned. You absorbed energy from something not natural, so became unnatural yourself. You wouldn't have been able to leave without that.

Also in the magic shop I was looking for something I could use, my only two magic weapons are a miniature iron lyre and a makeshift staff made from the remains of a previously magic-absorbing creature.

And I would have searched further into the city had Jen not been in need of transportation (I'm not saying I had to be the one to transport her, only that I chose to do so to save her some time). I was actually getting prepared to do so, thus the medic as the other option. And of course I will break into that protected library eventually, I just want to do something I know is usefull first, because if a quest does not contain killing a powerful monster or cooperating with another player, I'm likely not to do it.

Honestly? This story line is netting me epicyur items and other such things.. And the trust of the Avatars.

Mather, to answer your first question, they are making discoveries because they are actually trying to advance their storylines. The tradeoff is that, though I'm advancing my story, I'm one of the weakest characters overall. For all the stuff I've found, I'm wholly unprepared to deal with any of it and will probably have to rely on the characters that did spend their time messing with magic rather than get involved with the story :razz:

I was going for dramatic. I'm not good with really dramatic scenes (I think). I wrote up some more and I think it'll work, though Mask I have no effin idea who your character's sibling name was so I subsituted the name Hawthorn.

 

Prologue

A portal opened in the Worldstone Chamber. The two girls hugged each other as the room shook.

Shadow, you go through the portal. The room will collapse at any minute. Go.

Emerald, no! Im not leaving you behind! We came this far!

Shadow, if we both go, we wont make it! GO!

Emerald! I dont want to leave you!

Youll have to! Emerald pushed Shadow towards the portal.

Shadow looked into Emeralds green eyes. Both girls were close to crying.

Shadow! Take this! Emerald threw her amulet. Its my amulet of bravery! You have earned it! Remember me with this!

Shadow nodded as the tears ran down her bloody cheek. Chunks of the giant ceiling fell down.

Goodbye Shadow. Emerald said as a giant chunk crushed her.

Shadow cried as the force of the giant chunk sent Shadow falling backwards into the portal, knocking her into a new world unconscious.

Jen awoke to the sound of birds chirping nearby.

What a lovely morning in Fractus. She thought.

Mask and Hawthorn woke up next.

Morning Jen Hawthorn and Mask said together.

Morning twins. Jen replied.

Mask looked at his twin sister and grinned. Mask was the younger of the two, but he was less reckless than his sister.

Jen looked around and stretched. She couldnt help feeling that something seemed new and unusual.

Hawthorn looked at Jen. Jen, a small aura appeared over in Dimiria. I have never seen this aura before.

I wonder what it is. Mask said.

 

"I don't know. But maybe we'll check it out after finding the guy called Hakon. He's also an aura seer, but he knows how to use warp magic. Maybe I will try to contact it with my telepathy. Jen said.

Be careful Jen. I dont want it to come and kill us.

Oh, Hawthorn, you nut. I doubt it will attack us.

Jen, remember, you were the one who released Scion, whatever that was.

Mask, shut up. You get into less trouble than Hawthorn; you dont need to rub it in.

Mask and Hawthorn went quiet as Jen focused her telepathy on the new and unusual aura. She managed to pick out little fragments of sentences.

Emerald. Amulet Portal.. Baal Worldstone Chamber crumbling ceiling. No

Hawthorn, Mask. The aura is human. But the bits I managed to pick out dont make any sense. Well have to it check out. But we need to reach Hakon. Hell know what to do.

Jen, Hawthorn and Mask, walked towards the Hidden Arbour, the last known place where Hakon was traveling to.

Deep inside the Hidden Arbour, Hakon awoke and looked at the leafy multi-shaded green canopy. Immediately he sensed the new aura.

I must meet with that aura. But first, I should deal with the three that are walking this way. Hakon said as he grabbed both his battle claws.

He trudged towards the three auras that were heading towards him. Soon enough, he found three people.

Directing his battle claws at the three people, he said Who are you? What is your purpose for heading into my home?

We are simple adventurers seeking one called Hakon. We wish to ask for his help.

I am Hakon, the protector of the Hidden Aurbor. What do you need my help for?

Hakon, Im Jen, a scholar. My friends here are Hawthorn, a mercenary, and Mask, an ex-thief. Both are from the same set of twins, their parents passed away a long time ago. I ask of you to join us and help us seek out something I released into this world. Also, a new aura-

Has appeared in Dimiria. I know. I wish to seek out this aura myself.

Since when has I apeared to be anyhow the kind to guard something or go on a spiritual mission?

 

Also the claw did kind of replace my... right?... hand as well as that entire side of my body being covered in flesh-like, burning crystal. I started out just using fists and magic until I killed a baerl to make stuff out of.

There's an undeniable cool factor of having a dragon-like creature that can fly across oceans, hence why I am describing it as a dragon minus flesh rather than a snake plus legs and wings.
