Bladewing
you see more bots in your day-to-day scaping in 2010 than you did in 2007. rwt might be expand (because let's face it, the number of players actively seeking gp for $$ far exceeds the players actively seeking phats for $$). Bladewing
well i suppose that depends if you chopped yews or mined ess on a daily basis in 2007 - bots used to be concentrated in places that weren't frequented by anyone who actually wanted to play the game. nowadays, there are bots everywhere you go bar bosses. Pete Party
I agree that bots used to be worse, but back then it was obvious....10 people all lvl 3 cutting yew logs... Maybe they do it less obvious now. Me and the wise old man go way back.... he was a foolish boy back then. My crystal armour idea.
green9090
(because let's face it, the number of players actively seeking gp for $$ far exceeds the players actively seeking phats for $$).You can buy money too. It's quite easy. Buy a crashing merch item for min at the GE, sell to RWTer for trade price. Repeat until you have the cash you bought. Switch to another item if necessary. The way the GE stubbornly sticks to its trade price regardless of demand makes this form of RWT laughably easy. I recorded twenty bots on the same world (same clothing too, with numbered names) in Port Sarim hugging the willow trees. It was quite a disgusting sight. They were worms running around the entire place. Yews had at least four or five bots on them at any given time. ~PM me and I'll do my best to make you a signature!~

You don't see woodcutting bots as much anymore because woodcutting isn't nearly as profitable as it used to be compared to other things that can be botted- the market has changed and the bots have changed. The pileup of bots at green dragons and living rock caverns is absolutely ridiculous. They're just as bad as they used to be, they're just better hidden now. Vex
Well on the bot topic. The generic bots will be most likely on f2p for gold farming companies (Which will be set up again if free trade comes.) Nowadays most people bot their own accounts for skills etc, or if they start a pure to get cash (since they can't trade it cash and they cbf doing it all again.) So bots are everywhere atm, just they aren't ABCD001 bald headed green guys. (They were all like this as a bot creates the account using a random name algorithm and uses the default look for the gold farm companies to farm en masse) Nowadays they bought the levels and the character to order - so people buy the account or "powerlevelling" services etc etc. Or people bot on their pures or 2nd accounts because they can't trade them cash and they don't care too much about it. That's without the fact the actual software has had 3 years to evolve and become more advanced in the things it can do. (You only need to look at youtube vids.) But yeah with free trade back, the goldfarmers will return (Ni hao btw) and things like ess & yews/willows on f2p will be full up again. Yes this might "ruin" a new players initial experience of the game, but if they are a seasoned MMO player, this happens in nearly every game with an f2p element to it. http://www.[Caution! Firstly, there are loads of bug to abuse(some examples include poisoned c. morrigan spears and (4)->(3) dosing potions) that allow very fast cash transfer. Secondly, for every ge min or ge max item you know you can transfer 5% of starting money every 4 hour. If you know 20 different items you can transfer 265% of the starting money. Yes this might "ruin" a new players initial experience of the game, but if they are a seasoned MMO player, this happens in nearly every game with an f2p element to it. This. Bots are still everywhere, there are more now than there were back in the day (07 and earlier) This is a simple fact and is quite easy to see why. All of the botters back in the day used simple programs that could only do so much. So they were all huddled around simple tasks that profited like mining ess, cutting yews, and picking flax. Today all of the botters are mostly people pures and drag farmers. I can't find the video, but I remember Zarfot posted it in his YT channel a while back, it was called something like "Green Dragon Trolling" and the player dropped a nature rune in the room adjacent to green drags and all of the botters ran over to the wall trying to click on that item. It proved pretty clearly that a very high percentage of the people at green drags are botters. Also if you see people stun-alching skeletons in edgeville they are most likely botters. If you see pures with 99 hunter capes killing monks they are most likely botters. If you see pures killing pyrefiends in SW they are most likely botters as well. Botters have just moved to different places because it is not profitable to leave a botter at yew trees for days on end any more. Also Jagex by now has become quite good at detecting that type of botter, so people doing that to put GP on their own account wouldn't risk the account getting banned, but Jagex is still quite poor at detecting the better more complex bots that run rampant through SW and Green drags.
