jon_jomaco
Standing in world 2 falador. I'm wearing a white phat and selling a blue mask which is in my inventory along with a stack of cash. Noticing all the auto-typers standing around me I think to myself; why do these people not get punished, surely auto-typing is not tolerated? Any way, I type a few times, killing my fingers as I try to compete with the people clearly autoing - they're typing a full line of text that's wavy and it's got a different colour every 3 seconds. Someone starts chatting to me on msn so we have a brief conversation. I return to the Runescape window only to discover the familiar, quite frankly depressing, message - "oh dear you are dead". I've seen this message plenty of times, in the wilderness or fighting a tough monster perhaps, but when I was standing in the market? I can't quite believe it; I check my inventory and find I have lost my items except the three 'best' ones. It could only have been a random event. Now correct me if IÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m wrong these random events were originally created to deter people from autoing and not to rob people of 3 and a half years of wealth. If I was autoing I would accept this but I did nothing wrong to deserve this penalisation! I send a support query and receive no reply except the auto message. I respect that the customer support team is busy but I am a paying customer, am i expected to spend months.. years of boredom regaining my items? Where is the justice? I have been loyal to this game and this is how IÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m repaidÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ Any ideas about what i should do now? Thanks, jon. Metal_dragon112
Sorry man. Not worser than what i had.. All i did was stand at the mage arena bank and told my friend the search engine 'Lycos' and i get banned for advertising. i lost a yellow + green phat a santa and a red and green mask. Then i waited 2 weeks training my pure, come back and im banned. i got stressed to much.. i still had 2 months membership on my account, i used that 2 months membership to buy stuff etc.. when i used my ban appeal.. THEY STOLE MY 2 MONTHS! i was like.. wtf?! then i sent them another message and they said if i send them more threatening letters they will perminately ban my account.. Notice.. my account was PERM banned anyways. (JageX need to update they're auto messages.. ) One things lucky tho.. I saved atleast 10M worth of stuff on my noob. :) Sorry for your loss bro. uber_dad
Hi Jon, I can predict the responses you're going to get "You turned away from the screen, you deserved it", etc etc. It does stink what happened. I've noticed a lot of random events while waiting for drop parties and in mass selling situations. I wonder what random you got to be killed so quickly? How long was this MSN conversation? Just curious. The only really dangerous randoms I know of are shades, river trolls and the like. None of which happen when you're just sitting there. We've all had momentary distractions that take our attention away from the screen for a short time. I try to log out when that happens, but I have dozed while doing something boring (mining ess does it for me) but the sound of combat will usually bring my attention back. It can happen to any of us, but it does happen. I'm guessing you're not going to have much luck with Jagex either. Hope you stick with the game. blackrazor
The chicken is pretty lethal, and it can arrive anywhere, anytime. Chickens slaughtered a bunch of people trying to make Christmas toys in the Pixie workshop. So I'd say it probably was a chicken. (bwuk, bwuk, bwuk, Muahahahahaha) Sorry, for your loss. jon_jomaco
Well, i would return to the window at the sound of combat however 1- my earphones are usually plugged in after playing counterstrike or another similar game. 2- I play low detail more often than not now, especially on more occupied servers such as world 2. In regards to the length of the conversation; it couldn't have been more than a few minutes, the random must have appeared at virtually the exact time i swopped windows for me not to notice it. In regards to jagex: Nope, no luck. They would rather have me quit, all i recieved was an automated message and during all the time i played i think i must have only ever recieved one personal reply (and i am not even sure it was) and that was only because i was helping them solve a bug problem in the early days of rs2. All in all, it's just pretty damned annoying because of the fact that random's were implemented into the game to stop autoers and i do not auto. And yes i think it might have been a chicken myself... i really hate chickens now :( Jon.

Guest andyizcool
The even worse thing is those autoers near you probably picked up your drops. :(

Xander6669
It's time to get those auto-sellers banned, they annoy me too. I type my fingers off crazy as well to be able to get my message through as fast as they do, I normally can, but it's obvious that I don't auto because I don't type the same thing every time, and the writing actually has the time to disappear before reappearing. I wish 500 mods would run into the place and report those annoying bastards once and for all.
Slayer07_92
That kind of stuff has happened to me also, I was killing moss giants and then was called down to dinner so I went down figuring I would be logged out since it doesnt take long, so when I come back up I arrive in the respawn for when you die and that is when I quit, only to come back 1 year later with a new screen name. Dont worry Jon happens to us all, what were you left with, and how much money did you lose? I would also complain to jagex, you are a paying player I would ask them to have your gp replaced along with items. . .
Xander6669
I just reported like 20 of them now in World 1 Varrock. They ARE macroing, and they do have an unfair advantage over other players with this. I'm like 100% sure Jagex won't do a single thing about it but whatever, I did my part. By the way, sorry for your loss.
lordrex
some player mods should come there often and just start muting the macro-ers i was on world 1 selling cooked lobbs, and it had no effect because the marcoers just bump up ur text away in a sec. :( some good banning there would make it clear autoing is forbidden. just 1 week al the mods there banning al macroers... and no1 will marco anymore there... (the first 4 weeks) rsname: lord rex.december 2011: ranked 107th best f2p playermarch 2012 became member.
Marco
Sorry for your loss Jon, you should get into the habbit of logging off if you think you'll be away for more than like 10 seconds, I know it's a hassle, but in this case it would have saved you millions. n64jive
Wow, i know how terrible that would be, but tough break. I wish there would be sometning i could say or do to make you feel better, but i can't nor can anyone here. but least consider this, whoever noticed that you died, you made them very very happy, now at the demise of you, but still you'll get over it, and now some poor neeb has some money to continue playing the same. Another thing to remeber is...hey you still have your skills
MetalGod
not quite the same way, but i got keylogged and lost 1.55mill in rs classic, a long long long time ago, when a mill was a lot, was really disappointed, my hardwork, all gone down the drain, but then i realized it aint all about cash and stuff, especially since its a game, dont tink you can do anything about it, but just try to think of all the fun times you had playing, dont think of it as all your work into a party hat. What goes around comes around eventually...

Indizle
personally, i think that all these "attacking" randoms need to go away...whats the point of killing a player? Just use events to tele them into another are...no one dies, and they can't AFK train. If nothing else, that Chicken definately needs to go...it damages you way to much too fast. thrash-boy
holly crap! srry for your loss. :( I guess i havent really lost much in my time in runescape. I had a lvl 50 account hack3d and stolen in rs1, i sold a santa for a misrably cheep price only to get offered 500k more the next day, and then see it go up 4 mill the next monthor 2! Compared to your loss, thats nothing! Remember, always look on the bright side of things. You still have the 3 most expensive things. :)

jon_jomaco
Sorry i did not reply, i have been taking a break over christmas. I did contact jagex intially but only to recieve a reply which was vaguely related to my query which in part stated "you will be able to quickly gain the majority of items that have been lost, perhaps even better ones." (Yep, like that isn't a load of .........) Or an automated response telling me to become a member even though i allready was. All in all, i would say jagex have delivered relatively poor customer support, although i expected them to answer in the nature they did, i would have at least liked a response which was personal rather than a general statement about losses of items, after all a lot of us are paying customers and you are entitled to a proper service. If i start to play again, i will probably just create a new character and work his range level up, although i will have to go through the boring process of earning money again. That's the problem with this game, you have to go through a period of boredom before you actually have fun, i thought i'd finished with that... obviously not, looks like it's time to start again, or is it even worth it?
