Why can't F2P have...?

How about you try re-reading the first post.

[hide=Forum User]Are you a F2P player? Rant about the updates/additions you think F2P needs. Granted, the reason will always be "because F2Pers don't pay" but post here anyway.

If you want to make a legitimate suggestion, post on the RuneScape Forums.[/hide]

See that? It's not "Why Can't F2P have...?!" as in "This is why F2P cannot have ___". It's "Why Can't F2P have ....?!" as in "Dear me, I do wish that _____ would be available to F2P".

it does say rant place =P...besides nobody really seem to take it in that way

they all say "f2p SHOULD have this stuff cuz its cool"... more like demanding than wishing

but what i mean with my first post is why i would strongly prefer no p2p items to come avaible to f2p, those are my reasons why i really wish NOTHING beacomes avaible to f2p... already too much..

You know, a lot of people miss a very important point.

"Why can't F2P have..." doesn't necessarily mean that a members item should become F2P. It can also mean that a new object or the like can be implemented into the game that would serve a similar purpose (although in a lesser fashion) to F2P.

Example? Skill capes don't have to become F2P. (And I've said this before) They could certainly implement shirts or shields that show that you have a 99. For F2P, this would probably mean lesser or no stats for that equipment piece though.

Taking a Playstation 3 break.

So perhaps getting a Runite shield engraved with the symbol of a skill in which you have level 99 in?

First of all, the F2P Combat Traingle must be improved. F2Ps should be able to use...

Ranged:

-Yew Longbows

-Rune Arrows

-up to Adamantite Crossbow

-up to Adamantite Bolts

I think F2P should stay limited to Bows and Crossbows for Ranged. Giving F2P these items would level all the weapons to the Level 40 Ranged requirement (46 for Addy Crossbow). Yew Longbows would also help F2Ps make money (high alching).

Magic:

-Splitbark Armour

-Snare, Teleblock spells (I would also say Stun and Charge but they require Soul and Blood runes, respectively)

-Battlestaves (none of the combination runes battlestaves)

The armour would balance the triangle particularly because of the Level 40 requirements. The Snare spell should be F2P, since members are still left with Entangle. Teleblock should be F2P, and dont worry, probably only high levels will be using it because of the Magic Level requirement itself. If not, a downgraded version of Teleblock should be F2P, maybe stopping teleporting for 1 minute, and taking out the Death Rune required. Battlestaves are a good boost to the Magic corner of the F2P Combat Triangle. Since no combination rune battlestaves would be released to F2P, then the only difference would be the stats.

Melee:

-Spears up to Rune

-Halbred up to Rune

-[maybe] Initiate armour

-[maybe] Boots up to Rune

Not much to update here. This seems like the strongest corner of the F2P Combat Triangle, but releasing spears and helbreds up to Rune would be great. Neither of these have a Special Attack (which is why I excluded claws), and the attack styles are nothing spectacular. Initiate and Proselyte armour could be released to the F2P, but only if the quest stay within F2P "borders" (not sure, but not Proselyte because of the slug parts). The Barbarian Training smithing requirement for spears can be excluded, since it would still leave hastae with the requirement. As for the boots, it would be nice to have them, but I have a feeling it might be too much.

Making these updates to the F2P would balance the F2P Combat Triangle greatly, still leaving it at half-decent fighting.

"Re: Why can't F2P have ... ?!"

as simple as this:

for each new thing a f2p gets, its one reason less to pay jagex to get the good stuff

and do you have ANY idea how introducing any member item to f2p would affect the market especially with the GE floating about

you give f2p sharks and every fish will tank, sharks would be 30ea then how will the honest p2p fishers make any real money then?

and this goes for everything

bows, arrows, fletching in general

it would be the santa hat thing all over again... only backwards... it would ruin RS economy (if more is posible..) as we know it

trust me, giving f2p member stuff... baaaad idea..

besides f2p allready have many formelly p2p stuff.. you know what im talking about

-Spar

Great point! You know what? I suggest we stop updating altogether, that way the economy stays stable. Anyone with me?

You make idiots look like geniuses, using cyan on a forum where it's hardly readable on half the themes, and thinking F2P needs to be able to fish sharks (where do you get sharks from anyways? No one needs sharks in F2P... In fact, I don't remember hearing about food here) to use them, or fletching to use yew bows - or any bow or arrow for that matter.

Matt: You want that eh? You want everything good for you. You want everything that's--falls off garbage can

Camera guy: Whoa, haha, are you okay dude?

Matt: You want anything funny that happens, don't you?

Camera guy: still laughing

Matt: You want the funny shit that happens here and there, you think it comes out of your [bleep]ing [wagon] pushes garbage can down, don't you? You think it's funny? It comes out of here! running towards Camera guy

Camera guy: runs away still laughing

Matt: You think the funny comes out of your mother[bleep]ing creativity? Comes out of Satan, mother[bleep]er! nn--ngh! pushes Camera guy down

Camera guy: Hoooholy [bleep]!

Matt: FUNNY ISN'T REAL! FUNNY ISN'T REAL!

Consider this: If F2P hypothetically did gain the ability to fletch up to yew bows, yet bowstrings were only obtainable on members servers, then members just got a great new way to make money, collecting bowstrings seeing as the F2P market would boost demand greatly.

As far as sharks go (which I don't think anyone has ever stated that they should be F2P) you are incorrect in saying that sharks would fall in price. In fact the price of sharks might actually go up do to the massive increase in demand. You must look at things from different angles rather than simply staring down a narrow path and claiming that as reality.

spardante, you concluded your post requesting readers to trust you. You have given no evidence that you are a reliable source, nor that you have an open view about these things. You have clearly already made up your mind regarding anything ever becoming F2P and are defending that view. Why should any of us blindly accept what you say as fact with no evidence to prove it?

My personal wishes:

A) More bank space, still that 68 spaces doesn't seem to be enough for me, I have used banking guides, doesn't help at all for a skiller.

B) More quests, maybe two new quests with a reasonable reward, maybe a combat quest and a skilling/puzzle quest.

C) The F2P Skillcapes and hoods. It would be nice if they would have a pretty mark/icon which shows that if this cape is achieved as a F2P or as a P2P. The stats (like the prayer bonus) would be slighty decreased from the P2P stat boosts. 100/99 would still remain though. Getting the capes could a problem. Because the most of the Skillcape NPCs are on the P2P side, some of the F2P skills could get a F2P Cape NPC. Create new Skillcape NPCs or change some NPCs, like the Ranging Tutor for F2P. ( the Ranged cape, Ranging Guild is in the P2P worlds)

D) Magic needs a boost for F2P, the new FOG armour doesn't really increase anything. Snare and some new spells (not for low-mid level magers though, they dominate F2P at those levels) would be great for the F2P mager.

E) Rune arrows and the Yew bows. And maybe the Red D' Hide armour.

F) Give us the freedom to have Fancy Gloves fitting with the Fancy Boots. The gloves fit with the Fighting Boots.

G) If Jagex could create Achievement Diaries for the P2P cities, it would be great if Jagex changes the Varrock and the Falador diaries F2P. Of course the P2P tasks could remain still, but it would be great if Jagex would create a F2P side for these two cities (and maybe the upcoming F2P ones?)

That's it. 6 wishes. I don't demand them, it would be great if these happened.

F2p range already owns the combat triangle

I dont really care

You have to do p2p quests to finish diaries

No skillcapes, no it would be horrid.

It would create a mass amount of flame wars

There are but 2 things that F2P should have that are members only right now:

1)Ability to cut maple trees (with some maples added in F2P world)

2)More bank space

That's all I ask for.

I really don't think that F2P players need access to the forums. P2P is supposed to be a much better community (and it is, don't get me wrong) but the forum community is just pathetic. It is full of noobs who call you a noob when you ask them what the best set-up for your level is. Add the HORRIBLE F2P community to the already crappy one and the RS forums will be a spam-fest.

Besides, there are lots of unofficial RS forums that are more active then the official one. I hope everyone gets what I was trying to say. =]

I disagree with F2Ps having the ability to post on the forums. When a F2P becomes a PMod, then one of their benefits is the ability to post on the RSOF, even though theyre F2P. Giving F2P the ability to post on the forums wouldnt make this a benefit to the F2P PMods.

The new CEO of Jagex, Mark Gerhard, said that the free game will be improved!

We'd also like to clear up a few issues surrounding the free game. RuneScape is different from all other MMOs in that the free game has an epic amount of content (we'd estimate over 2,000 hours worth to get all your skills up to 99 and complete all the quests) and isn't merely a demo for the members version. If anything, we see the members version as an expansion pack for those that really love the game and we feel both games are substantive in their own right. I want to apologise for habitually over-promoting the benefits of membership to our free players. I strongly believe if you love the free game you will equally love the members content and that is sufficient promotion to me. If you can't enjoy the free game in its own right then we're not doing our jobs properly. We will continue to improve the free game and, crucially, make it as fun as possible because we know that this is the way that everyone first discovers RuneScape.

I very excited to see what improvements to F2P they'll make. Perhaps skillcapes? =D

Hopefully, it the only update that I really think F2P needs, though in order for that to equally benefit everybody eligible for a skillcape, they'll have to make it so that skillcapes cannot be purchasable in F2P, but can be worn. Basically, make skillcapes kinda like maple logs or coloured (Canfis) gloves, purchasable only in P2P, but usable in F2P.

That would be a real bummer... If they chose to add some new areas to the f2p map, I would be overjoyed. Something like some new yews, new mines, things of this nature. Jagex did say they intended to improved f2p and this would be a fantastic way to do so.

F2P is free, so a person can't expect too much. However, I wouldn't mind having the ability to post on RS forums, and a bit more bank space, and maybe even spears and more weapons for F2P. But I could live without that stuff. Don't expect too much from free things, most skills are already available and from F2P you can even get to 99 smithing level and make rune plates. Don't complain.

Spam on forums might happen but I wouldn't care about that. That's why it's called spam, you're supposed to ignore it as it's trash. F2P does have many items. A person might keep a stock of runes/arrows, 3 different armor sets, random event things, tools (picks and axes), and sometimes during quests many things need to be used. And more weapons wouldn't suck. They might suck compared to all the "special weapons" in P2P but in F2P I'm pretty sure they won't suck. But most important would probably be bank space. F2P can still get extra bank spaces while playing for free, but I can understand the possibility of the forums getting overcrowded. More weapons wouldn't matter that much, but bank space takes priority. No bank space = no space for weapons. Still, its F2P and a person can't expect too much, but since this board was made for discussing, I may openly state my wishes for F2P
