Can I change it back to my old one?

 

Like my name right now is "ccesssu", and i change it to "asdf". Can I change it back to "ccesssu" later?

 

Edit: And is "ccesssu" available to others after I become "asdf"

You can change it back after a month, but I believe if you wait longer than 6 weeks (not 100% sure on the timeframe) anyone can take your old name.

You may want to update your signature and name on tip it then.

After 28 days you can change your name to whatever you want again

After 35 days your previous name becomes available to everybody

Actually, the name you have won't be available to anyone until you change it to a third name.

 

For example, if you go from name 1 to name 2, and keep name 2 for a year, name 1 will still be yours. However if you then change from name 2 to name 3, name 1 will become available.

 

Following this logic, if you were to go from name 3 back to name 1, name 2 would become available, and name 3 would remain yours.

My original username is Jaffy1 (name 1). I changed it to Miss Jafje (name 2) and had that for a display name for over a year; and my older rs friends still used to type "Jaffy1" to get into my cc. The name was still mine, even though I hadn't used it for over a year.

 

Then I changed my display name as I got bored of "Miss Jafje" (to a third name), and checked whether or not anyone would be able to take my Tip.It name (Jaffy1). They could, so after one month I immediately changed it back from name 3, to "Jaffy1" (name 1).

 

A few days later I noticed a troll had made a newbie account and named it Miss Jafje to pretend to be me, as that name (2) became available when I went from name 3 to name 1.

 

So yeah, I'm positive.

I've changed my display name once and was recently able to take the original name for a new account (about 1 year later).

They must have changed it then, because I went from Gandorf61 > Mr Spock > Gandorf61 early last year and now someone else is using the name Mr Spock. Good info to know though.

I'm pretty sure that your original login name stays bound to you no matter what, and that's why that happened for you. I've gone through 3 or 4 name changes and you can still type Green9090 (the name I started with) and end up in my CC.

Ive changed my display name 3-4 times, I still have to log in using my original name I created in 05..

The amount of time you had your last name for determines how long until anyone else can take it.

 

Example:

 

1. I change my name to "Kanye West". Since I've been "Taylor Swift" for such a long time, it'll take months before anyone else can take it.

2. I change my name to "Selena Gomez". The name "Taylor Swift" is now free for anyone to take. Since I haven't had "Kanye West" for very long, its freed up 35 days after I changed to "Selena Gomez".

3. I change back to "Taylor Swift".

4. I change name to "Rick Astley". Runescape doesn't remember that I had the name "Taylor Swift" for a long time before this example, so its only reserved for 35 days.

While I had taken the third name, people could either time name 2 or name 3 to get into my cc. Name 1 no longer worked and was available for others to take.
