Dungeoneering / Fishing

Can someone please explain to me the method by which it's possible to gain over 100k experience per hour? Step by step would be nice, but whatever you can contribute helps greatly.

Much appreciated; thanks!

Do whatever floors you would normally C1 as a C2, and fish every spot you see on the way. Powerdrop the fish as necessary. Best results if you (temporarily, of course) bind cosmics and gate key doors so you can quickly traverse the dungeon.

I have not done it the c1-c2 method, but I do not think that will earn 100k fish xp/hr. While you are fishing your fish xp rate will be above 100k/hr, but since you are not constantly fishing the overall xp/hr will be lower.

xpx already ran some tests, it's 100-120k Fishing exp an hour. The rate of experience while fishing is upwards of 200k+.

Alex is correct- recent updates increased the frequency of resources in dungeons, and I believe also the speed at which you fish. It's now extremely fast fish exp.

Hmm... were you fishing everything or just morays? Did you have cosmics? Could also be your lower fishing level, but I wouldn't expect two levels to be that big of a difference.

I was fishing all the blue crabs and morays.

and no i didn't have cosmics, but that shouldn't make a difference of more than 15 seconds a floor.

We're talking about a difference on the order of a minute a floor.

It's probably a combination of lack of cosmics and lower fishing level. At 96 fishing (same as xpx) I keep on seeing like 4 moray spots lumped together in the same room, it's crazy.

I have no idea how you can do around 1,5 minutes a floor slower than us, and even then, i did the test on the slowest floors(furnished) and without cosmics, and still averaged 6 minutes per floor. It might be about the skill of dropping, or it might be about not planning gd's with fish, but you are definitely doing something wrong.

im averaging faster than 6 minutes a floor, the but i dont get enough fishing spots to get 100k xp/hour.

I the most i've seen post update is like 9.

im averaging more along the lines of 4.

cuz 1 fishing spot is about 12 blue crabs or 10 morays for me, which is about 1700 xp a fishing spot.

On a related note, wtf do on bulwark beast? I usually don't have enough runes to kill it (with t9 blazer), can't make more, can't buy more, and can't get a pickaxe. I have to waste several minutes- wrathing it to death. Wat do?

I got just over 330k fishing xp over 33 c2's so that number was pretty constant for me, and i got around 12 fish per spot, with around 5 spots average per dungeon(my max was 13, lowest 0). I'm not sure, but fishing level might affect the fish per spot number too(as i'm definitely getting more crabs from spots than morays). I'm not quite sure on this, but we should all atleast try out artisan ring and see if it saves resources for fishing aswell, which would up the number of fish you get per spot.

As for bulwak, i haven't gotten any yet, but the runes you get at start coupled with the mage armor should definitely allow you to kill the beast, and if that doesn't work, quickswitch to mage ring. I have a csb bound so that allows to do atleast some bosses faster(sagit, bulwak, rammer).

i guess i got really unlucky my last 20 floors then <_<"

The runes it gives you aren't enough to reliably solo bulwark, but the pickaxe in the room solves that problem.

Grimy, it could just be your fishing level. Might get much better as you get to the higher 90s.

You seriously didn't know there was a pickaxe in the room?

I'm pretty sure you just need a couple more fishing levels Grimy.

It's the same with all the resources.

When I was 92 farming, I would rarely see spirit bloom in dungeons, once I hit 95+, I see at least 8 a dungeon, usually more then 10

I've noticed the same for things like branches, ores, dinos. Those few levels make a lot of difference down there.

it's been much less then a year since occult came out :P

Dungoeneering hasn't even been out for a year (or has it...barely...?)

Anyways, I just thought it was one of those common knowledge things

I didn't know that either, and the knowledge doesn't really help me in any way(mage is faster in c1 anyway, i'd smith a prom pick for larges).

Anyway, as we have all gone very much offtopic on this and have thought doing c1's is self-explanatory(which it is to us, but might not be for everyone), i'll go a bit deeper into the method.

You start by trading the smuggler, sell 50 arrows, buy 250 feathers(max fish i've got is 151), a fishing rod and an antipoison(dependent on floor, no need for it in ice). You then equip plate, legs and arrows and keep top two spots(or any inv spots you are most comfortable dropping from) free for dropping. You do a c1 as normal, trying to be as fast and not kill any monsters necessary(sometimes you might kill some monsters in non-gd's that have 3+ fishing spots, but it's rare). For dropping, drop a fish just after you get one(look for xp counter gains) and then click on the spot again fast. If done right, the dropping will not slow your fishing, but as the fishing is ridiculously fast now, loss-less really isn't possible, so you want to drop as few fish as possible and end every dungeon with a full bag. Another way of dropping is fishing 10 fish from a gd and then dropping those while you fight monsters or dropping them on the move(both are loss-less). High combat skills are recommended for the method as it allows you to do the dungeon faster. The best binds for this is hood, prim baxe and cosmics under 100 and hood, rapier, 2h and cosmics over 100(melee is basically the only style you need to use, even a hex is basically useless). Oh, and always turmoil every monster.

Edit: ^ C2's*

No, c1's. C2's are just c1's with fish and wood.
