Do you ever bother shutting the light?

Featured Replies

In my school people never bother to shut the light after they are done in the toilet. So everytime I step into a toilet, the light is still on. It just kind of bothers me when people don't shut the light after they are done, because you wouldn't do that at home, why would you do that at school?

So do you ever shut the light after you're done at school? If you don't, why don't you? Bad memory or is it laziness?

never shut it off at school, because you cant. have to have a key to work the lights. i dont shut them off at home either, then i have to turn it on again. and i dont care about saving energy, so no reason to.

I shut off the lights in my house when I leave a room, if that's what you're asking :)

summerpngwy6.jpg

Yeah, I shut the light off. It's like automatic for me, like flushing and washing my hands. At school though you can't, so I don't. Whenever I leave a room I turn off the light, minus a lamp or something :P.

what do you mean shut the light off? if you mean the lights in the bathroom no because you can't. But at home yes i always shut the light off in my room or bathroom but my sister doesn't half the time and sometimes it pisses me off for somereason. Whenever i see a light on with no one inside i automatically get drawn in to turn it off.

Sup noobs.

I shut the lights off at home all the time. Not at school.. you cant, it's a special switch I think you need a key

Well, in my school there are seperate toilets and a light in each one that you can shut and turn on. But I guess in most of yours you can't do that. I meant with the topic if you do that at school, but since most of you can't do that at school, do you guys do that at home?

At my old high school, I felt bad turning off the light, because what if you walk in and it's dark and you can't find the switch and you have to pee? It's just a bad situation and it's totally happened to me :P

At my uni, all the bathrooms have motion sensor lights, that go on automatically when you walk in, and shut off where there hasn't been any movement for a while :D Brilliant :D Yay for environmentalists who pressure the administration ;D

We have bathrooms with a few stalls/urinals at my school so it's generally a nono to turn off the lights even though you can :P

In the library however theres a bathroom and the light is tied to the ventilation which gets annoying for people in the library when it's on :P

When I'm at home it really depends what kind of light is in the room. If there's a low energy flourescent light I keep it on unless its in a room that wont be used more than once an hour, but if it's a regular light I turn it off (not that we have many of those left in my house ^.^ )

no reason for me the save energy, i pay $10 into my familys 30 or 40 dollar a month electric bill, if i conserve ill still be paying 10. thats why i have had my computer on for about 70 of the past 72 hours, and leave my satelite/stereo/dvd on and just turn on the tv when i want to watch something.

It's really not much to spend an extra second to turn stuff on later than use up energy (however I have to agree with the computer part, I leave mine on all the time because it takes forever to start back up, only the monitor gets turned off)

If in a public place then I leave the lights on (like when I was at school or uni or a pub) it's not my place to turn them off. They want them left on.

At home though I switch them off.

yeah, but you have to turn them on and off all the time. i covered all the windows in my room, so its dark 24 hours a day. definently got to keep computer on, always dl'ing something :D

Like 1 or 2 years ago the california government spend millions on this "turn off your lights" ad campaign to conserve energy. I kinda wonder how successful it truely was...

This is sort of a weird situation. At home of course most of us would turn the lights off when we leave the bathroom because that's what we were taught. Now I'm assuming that this is for a one toilet room with probably one sink because where i'm from we have many toilets in the bathroom and people are always inside using them so the light is left on.

Honestly I can't make seem to make up my mind on what the proper thing to do should be. I'm thinking about this way to much. I guess If it's a crowded school or somebody's going to use it soon it's best to leave it on. If nobody's around and it's sort of a private bathroom than I would turn it off. I sort of automatically turn it off anyways, I just can't help it.

  • Author

Make7upu101, you don't have to help it, shut the light :)

Well, in my school the toilets are not crowded at all. There are some toilets that are basically never used because they are located in a place where almost nobody goes to. So if someone uses one of the toilets there and doesn't shut the light, the light might be on for like the next 10 hours, until the cleaner comes and shuts it, or until someone else uses the toilet and shuts it.

We don't pay for the hydro bill, but I still turn off the lights. I don't like bright lights when I'm on the computer or watching TV :?

At my university the lights automatically turn on when you walk in and turn off when you walk out. Motion sensor on the door or something i'm guessing.
