MrChrisRawkz
Recently while playing Runescape I have been accussed of botting as I will be doing something. For example: while firemaking. some guy goes and automatically assume im on a bot and puts a box trap expecting me to not do anything. by the time I had moved around and asked why he had allready reported me. Im just wondering if its getting this bad with bots, or was it just a one off guy who wants to be a mod, because usually people like myself just want to get along with skilling. not talking for a few hours then do a little. But anyway. What are your guys thoughts? Do you feel as though you have to talk to make sure people dont assume your a bot? Range_This11
I rarely speak to other players in game unless I have to. I usually only chat with my friends but PM is always on, so if someone absolutely needs to talk to me they can always add me. However I still see a general consensus here that talking & user interaction is something which should be prevented? I think it's something which should be much, much more important in runescape, give a good mix of actions which either require competition (old gold mining at brimhaven like) or working together (boss hunting, dungeoneering). Ever since 2007 updates it seems the old skills become more and more single-player type things. And boss hunting is also mostly done single player nowadays. Cheat
While superheating at SW everybody just calls you a bot. Blake
I feel that if you don't want to talk, don't want to work together, don't want to use the multiplayer aspect.. You're wasting a spot in a multiplayer game.. In the way you play runescape could just be downloadeable & you play on your own pcs..^ and your other posts This is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Just because you don't want to talk, you're wasting a spot in the game and dont deserve to play? Because you lag, you don't deserve to play? For an analogy, you don't like talking to people in real life, you should just kill yourself because you aren't worth anything. If you are physically or mentally slow, you don't deserve to be interacting with the rest of the world, and therefore should rid the world of yourself. Sounds like a plan!! ...right? Just because you aren't talking, doesn't mean you don't contribute to the game. You will still be buying and selling, etc. About the competition in brimhaven, all that would do if everything was more like that would slow the game down. It also makes the community even worse, fighting and insulting each other over who gets to mine the ore. People have different personalities, some people are solitary and don't rely on other people. OT: When I firemake, people also put up traps or flowers to stop me. It's very frustrating.

I would put this trend down to what I put most trends down to: The vast majority of the worlds population are idiots. Why are you playing a multiplayer game if it lags too much for you to involve in player interaction? Why are you on a forum when you could be outside talking to random strangers? Why am I asking this dum question? Why do I care? Why does anyone else care? Why cant you just do your thing and let others do theirs without questioning their motives? Why oh why oh why!! So many questions and why dont they matter? - Anyway.. As for OP. No certainly not. I got better things to do than to talk to random people that probably half my age and quite frankly are ganna be even more annoying and intrusive to my gameplay due to various reasons such as begging, calling me names, ask me questions forever if I allowed them, worship me, follow me, try annoy me for the hell of it. IF I begin speaking to them. If I simply ignore them then 9 out 10 times they go away within 10 minutes. That 1 leftover person you learn to forget they there eventually, easy if turn chat off. Anyone who is actually worth speaking to WONT FOLLOW YOU AROUND FOR HALF AN HOUR calling you names etc. I think thats safe to say. When I was going for my smithing goal I averaged easy over a long period of time about 1 person an hour. Most of them were very flattering by commenting how fast I was and never made ever made mistakes within hours of watching me lol ^.^ Despite calling me a bot and other rude names. But yeh.. Just turn public off for a bit. All that said though. I dont mind it so much as its good people want to report bots, however some of these people really must learn the difference and/or not just presume things. I am/used to be a heavy bot hunter. I did it knowing 100% they were bots. I never ever NEVER completely blocked a normal player. There are less reliable ways to figure out if someone is very likely botting or not, after that step you use a more intrusive method but careful to allow room for error incase its still a legit person. Very rarely when I was a newbie at it did I accidently mistake a very few legits and I learnt from those mistakes and found better methods. After that the final and third step is to crash them.. but you only do that once you know 100% from step 2. Most people just run around willy nilly and report everyone and thats just pathetic and I havnt got time for it. I certainly wont respond to those idiots. pulli23
Why cant you just do your thing and let others do theirs without questioning their motives? Because I play a game WITH you. I play an MMO and I play an MMO to see an MMO, not to see 2000 people trying to play in a solo way. Demi_Fiend
I've been accused of being a bot many times because I'm not very social. I enjoy doing my own thing. You've just got to remember, it doesn't matter how much what you're doing looks like botting, it's whether or not you're doing it. Who cares what anybody else thinks? As for pulli23, those of us who play solo aren't ruining the game for you or anybody else, so why can't we have some fun too? Just because the game is an MMO doesn't mean it is solely directed at people who want to play multiplayer.

Obtaurian
I usually play with public chat on friends, but when I'm skilling I'll sometimes turn it on to see if anyone's accusing me of being a rapist botting. When I see that they are, I start ridiculing them for griefing other people, etc, and they always end up apologizing profusely. Good fun. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off. Cheefoo
Ugh... There are so many ignorant wanna be mods out there who think they can become crowned player moderators if they report enough bots. No matter what I'm doing, it seems I'm never safe from being suspected as a bot. Once I ran through Brimhaven Dungeon following a treasure trail, and someone saw me run past and says "lmao your a bot???". I usually respond with "BEEP BOOP!" It's funny to see how many people think bots say that, and then report me. Sometimes I like to run back and forth in a bank while repeating some random quickchat phrase like, "I have spotted 10 penguins this week." You'd be surprised at how many people think I'm botting. They're either begging for money, asking the most stupid questions ever, or running around going "U mad br0?!?!" to random people who they haven't even talked to and have no reason to be mad. But I guess that should be expected of most 12 year olds. 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving. Carl
Wow, of all people to make this thread it just so happens to be you. I saw you at Soul Wars bank the other day, funnily enough, we were all assuming you were a bot. Who else stands in the one spot for a few seconds, before running as far north as possible for a few seconds, then returning back to that same previous spot? For over an hour? Then suddenly logging off and coming back 30 minutes or so later but this time actually clicking on the bank? Yeah, sorry I'm not convinced. Things aren't getting really bad, people are botting and it's very clear. Whether or not they are talking doesn't make a difference. Personally I don't care if people think I'm a bot, because they never have to as I'm not doing any crazy repetitive actions. Carl
I rarely train, My_Eggs. And I suppose I didn't word that correctly. I'm talking about repeating the same steps, over-and-over. Following the same line when training, etc. Not just grinding away at a skill. I.e. running around the same area for over an hour while halting at a certain spot for so many seconds within that hour.
