Thorgmir
I'm looking to train my ranged from 84 to 90, in a way that's relatively fast, but also not losing a lot of money (so no chins or cannon). I have full void, as well as extreme ranged pots.
Sy_Accursed
In terms of doing it cheap yaks with full void and iron or steel knives is still just about the best IIRC.You can make it better with higher knives, pots and prayers; but obviously that ups the costs. And of course there's the whole efficiency trope you'll no doubt get quoted about how doing it with chins or canon is better as in the time saved you can make more money than you spent and thus profit. LitterBug
How is training range at the range guild? There used to be hundreds of bots there - so I assumed that it was a half decent place to train?
Nifflin
Chinning nechs breaks even or profits! Too bad the guide isn't on Tip.It anymore. Thorgmir
Thanks for the responses so far. I will definitely look more into chinning nechs. Are avianses worth considering at all?
Sy_Accursed
No they are pretty slow xp and not even particularly good money. but if you enjoy them they could be an option jsut slower. Range guild isnt worth it, just go with either yaks or chinning nechs/range slay...
Quyneax
^Actually, the frosts plan would be best in the long term, unless you had a lot of money or no buyables to do whatsoever. 1dhunter
^yea, its a good plan. Just not an answer to the op's question:p He's asking for a relatively FAST and still kinda cheap way to get 90 range.

Frosts are up to 100k xp/hr, which is not fast, but certainly cheap. Training dungeoneering isn't training ranged, you shouldn't take that into account. Needing 85 to unloack frosts. You would be able to chinn nechs with little to no profit loss to 99(and he is only looking to get to 90) before he got frosts unlocked. Then getting to frosts and dealing with the mass of other people. MMM yeah. I find it best to stay on topic for the OP. I did slayer from about 84-96. Then chinned the last 3 levels. But A clan mate did nechs. He loved them. And he is one of the cheapest people I know. With the drops he was happy there.
Dachef
IMO do slayer. Most tasks have safespots, use a rune crossbow and broad bolts (cost you about 65 ea), accumulator so you don't lose too many.. Void is fine if u have an absolute safespot, otherwise use dhide or karils..
Grogthurk
I'm not sure if nechs will profit anymore. Herb prices, rune boots and seed prices have essentially nose dived into oblivion. You could still land one of the new rare drops, which would profit. If you had a BoB you could take the ashes, but that would shorten trips tremendously (unless you had Yak). Urns would help with prayer. However, it is still fast experience. At a minimum, you'll be able DRASTICALLY cut the cost of getting those ranged levels. I just don't see profit happening without a stroke of luck.

And any monster that you need the accuracy of a runecrossbow on would be melee'd twice as fast. If you're using slayer you would use a FSH except on exceptionally low defense tasks like LRC.
