I would NEVER sell my party hat. It was my goal and only goal ever. Sucks for people who didn't buy them when they were less than 10 mil

I bought my yellow party hat at 5M. What is it at now? 36-40M? 800% profit FTW.

Your post doesn't make much sense.

You would never sell your party hat? Good for you.

It costs 36-40M now? Good for you, you bought it when it was cheap.

You're making an 800% profit, when you would never sell your part hat? I think not.

I won't sell my party hat, but it still increases my bank's value

I'm making an 800% profit? Yeah, I think so.

You've made no profit until you've sold it and gotten something out of it.

A party hat is an asset which means it counts for my bank networth.

To put it to words you two might understand, it still counts as my wealth, whether I sell it or not.

Nice try though. doh.gif

If Jagex wanted to get rid of rares they could EASILY by warning everybody with 2 months notice that rares are going to be deleted and they can make like an NPC that will buy the rares for the current street prices so nobody gets mad.

They aren't going to delete rares and will never use my idea.

What your talking about is sort of counting your chickens before the eggs hatch. Basicly said, you have no idea if it will be worth "xxx" money when you sell it.

but like I said before, the actual party hat item does not lose or gain any money, thus, it's realy pointless to argue about or upon that, delete.

If I knew rares where going to be deleted the week before they were deleted id buy all the easter eggs and pumpkins at a cheap price (hopefully) and train with them as being my food. When they dissapear i could say "I ate my share of pumpkins and easter eggs". I would take many pictures of me eating them so i had proof. Id feel proud.

No. I didn't buy my party hat for it to become an investment, though it is one. I bought it because it symbolizes wealth, which in turn gets respect in the game.

And how does that saying fit in now? I know for a fact that a party hat can get to the 40 mil range. Counting my chickens after they hatched is the more proper way to say it.

If you mean when I bought the hat for the first time, then, it would've fit better.

rofl varrock will be covered with phat sellers for 5mil!!! And no buyers!

By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( .

well to some people who thinks that other item prices will raise.

why woudl anyone want spend 200 mil for coal, and put everything in bank, like phat. those thing prices are stable because of alching. also there is unlimited supply of raw materials, so would u think that if coal price would jump, peopel would be buying it? no. it will be much more cheaper to get your butt down to minnign site and get some for yourself.

another thing about rares. they nice, they look good, they insane expensive, and they don't give anything but few pixels in your screen. :) very soon phat trading will be only in bethween current owners of them, and at that point the rpice will be set. nowdays most rares are use to make very quick cash: price range of those items varies for 1-10 mil's. thats a lot when u buy one and sell on forums making profit. but what will happen when lets say phat price reach 1 bil? there won't be anyone who could save up and buy one. the realy wealthy people will get their own group, where will be close to imposible to join.

Rares are a problem for the exact reason that jagex stopped having holiday drops, noobs get greedy and pissed off if they don't have any. Personally I've had a white party hat scammed by a friend of over a year, just because he wanted it when he couldn't afford it. I doubt they'll delete rares ever, but it'd be better if they had never been dropped in the first place.

Seeing as i was hacked and lost

blue/red hats and all mask, i love it ^^

EDIT: BTW, the reason jagex will not buy them from you at "street price" is simple... Way to much gold would be pumped into the economy from this action, causing an amazing inflation and people to quit.. Sure a few people would be uber rich from the transaction, but eventually the millions will be spread out in the economy... Thus this ruins the value of gold entirly.

I think rares, in the long-term, were a bad thing. They caused a great instability in the economy. I don't see HOW they stabilize it in any way. Thats like saying the speculators in 1927 stablizied the economy by driving stock prices up.

But, Jagex has made a mistake and they have to live with it. They would lose a fair sum of money if they deleted rares or made them untradeable or whatever, and we have to look at issues from a business perspective, too.

However, the deletion of rares WOULD stabilize the economy, possibly to the other end of the spectrum. It'd be a chain reaction:

Jagex deletes/stops trade on rares

Rich players quit the game, in some cases without donating their cash

Cash is leaked from the economy

Other players flame Jagex for their choice

Players are banned and their networth becomes inaccessible

More cash is leaked from the economy

Both of these situations result in a mild stablization, and I doubt they're the only possibly outcomes.

Now, before I get flamed by some elitist; you're right, I can't afford a partyhat, but I don't particularly want one either. I'd rather spend 80mil on runes, cash, weapons, armour, or anything else that was beneficial to my levels and other irrelevant things in the game. I think that partyhats should stay in the game, because their removal would cause havock, but it's too late to change that now, and the current move of Jagex (i.e. that of making holiday items untradeable) was a smart one.

What your talking about is sort of counting your chickens before the eggs hatch. Basicly said, you have no idea if it will be worth "xxx" money when you sell it.

I never said you bought it as an investment. All I was saying is you never know when the price could drop.

Obviously the price will drop like a rock! Who would pay money for a usless item that will disapear?? You might as well just delete the straight away! It would be better to say they will become untradable in a year...

But I don't have a problem with rares, I don't have any, nor can I afford them, but I still think they should leave them as they are.

that would make them skyrocket...

Don't give the idea that Jagex will deleat these items any thought. Someone is fooling with your heads.

Jagex will just let the market adjust itself on these items. Sure they will only get more expensive. What do you expect - the game gets more players all the time, but they number of these items remains the same. It's really a no brainer

Now a nice idea might be to make these items non traidable in a years time. That way the prices will go through the roof as players want to get one of these items before the deadline.

:P I'll be a kazilionare :D :D

You only say that because you don't have a Party Hat.

Devil Johnny

Yes rares are extremely pricey for something that just makes u look cool but u see its the prices that keeps rs up really. People like to work hard and earn all that moeny to get a nice looking phat to show off. If these items werent so expensive tons of people would have them and there would be really no HUGE goals to get sumthing worth tons of money. You see phats are like to out of range items that u want to get and plan like months to earn moeny and get a nice looking hat that makes ya look fancy.

Jagex will not delete them as u see many people have already spent valuable time trying to get a nice cool item and if they delete it lots of people will be mad. Its like they worked so hard for like a 115m thing and then jsut like that its gone.

What's the point on spending a life time making money to buy an useless hat? For showing of? Please.. That's the behavior of a 10 year old brat. "uh, I have a pretty hat and you don't. You are a noob. Lalalala."

...

Side note:

And the attitude most "players" have are really sick: "I want to buy you *****!" "Sorry, I won't sell." You *****!!! Noob!"

Like... what's with those people? Do they own a brain at all? What's up with that? If people don't want to sell what they own makes them a noob? Don't make me laugh... For the matter, anything that they don't like at all is labeled "noob". For me they are noobs themselves. Noobs in the sense that they are lil brats that think they can own anything they want. You know kids, this games weren't meant for you. Gosh, you don't even work to spend money on a "member" acc or even pay the internet bill!

Back to topic:

If people have their "rares" let them have it. I'd be annoied as well if they would take them away from me. And if these "rares" are so expensive it's only the players fault. Let them be as they are. Any time from now the actual "noobs" will be rich and call the yet-to-come-noobs "noobs" as they were called in the past. Oh joy. I bet it feel so "manly" when you say that. Brrrrr.. Goose bumps...

grr i had 19 blue phats on my noob acc

geez why the hell BAN rares out of rs, just re-drop them and prices will decrease to...phats have a nice look so why completely take them out of rs

 do a new drop of phats an everyone will have one and make them untradeable and be able to get them back from some guy

There's nothing bad about that. It's pretty much like playing with stocks irl.

rares are not as much like the stockmarket as it seems. yes they go up and down. but the crash is minimal, and they will always bounce up. unlike the real stock exchange where items fluctuate according to demand and success, then when they become obselete/in less demand, thats when they fall drasticly. as aposed to rares which fall do to suspicion that they will fall

the only reason why rares fall a bit during holiday seasons is because people think rares are going to fall then, and sell them. then the market has too many rares, and the price lowers.

Compare this to real life..

Say I have a whole chest full of old rare coins that are worth $1000+ each to someone that collects them or a museum or something. They are just sitting there collecting dust, and slowly increasing in value. I'm holding on to them until I pass them down to my son, who will also pass them down to his, because they've been in the family for centuries. I'm no rich man by any means, but not poor either, I live in a two bedroom house in the suburbs. IF, I sold the coins, I would be living in a mansion on the side of a lake. But that's not happening since I'm not selling my coins.

I kind of started rambling on, but I think it still makes sense and gets the point across. Either you are very hard headed, slightly on the slow side, or didn't word yourself correctly.
