deleting rares... being told in advance?

rares get a mixed bag of opinions from everybody who play this game, they make the game unique compared to other mmorpgs. many people think that the rares mess up the economy, and i agree most of these people are jelous 10 year olds who have 20gp in bank. other people believe that the rares stabilise the economy, that if they didnt exist, money would have nowhere to go, and would make everything else skyrocket in price. this may also happen, but most people who think this already own a rare, or are rich enough to afford them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

if rares were deleted strait away, many people would quit... jagex wouldnt want that, so theres not much chance of that happening... but i have quite a unique idea that id like to know what others think of:

in exactly a years time from now, all rares in runescape will be deleted, all party hats, santas, masks, pumpkins, eggs, halfwines and disks will be wiped from everyones bank and inventory, and will never exist in the game again.



im sure we will get many complaints over this, but we believe it is one of the only ways to slowly and safely dissapate this ever-increasing problem.

Obviously the price will drop like a rock! Who would pay money for a usless item that will disapear?? You might as well just delete the straight away! It would be better to say they will become untradable in a year...

I agree.. People who are poor noobs cry because they cant buy one.. so they want them out the game.. Maybe Jagex should make a party hat spawn in lumb so all these noobs can stop crying

I'd quit if they just deleted them and never put them in the game again in any shape or form. I spent ages mining to afford one when they were 60k and I was level 30 and It's my most prized item, I would never sell it, so why punish all the people that like the rares to wear as well as the people that make money off of them?

now they aint gonna remove em and if you think logic merchants will always be in rs , so whats gonna happen everything else gonna raise because they are going to "merchant" other things And then people can start to complain why everything is getting so expensive.

rares are not bad they are "a long term fail proof investment" wich is perfect if you wanna train and not make cash, okay okay prices are going insane compared to the old days, its unfair to the newer players buts thats in every mmorpg older players will always have more advantages.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

there's no real solution the only thing to prevent em from going higher would be saying max 100m per trade and then you would just add some items.

Rares are equivilent in real life to the stock market. The event which you have placed before us is what's called the "crash"

the reason most ppl complain about rares and want them untradeable or deleted is stated before me in this and ALL THE OTHER THREADS CONCERNING THE SAME MATTER. i had to use caps so that maybe everyone will now understand how pointless it is to post the same thing in different words over and over again. If u can't afford a phat then work for it, merchant etc, whatever it takes to get enough money to get yourself that precious little blue pixel hat to make you feel like a man.

Rares? Those items are not rare at all. They are discontinued items. Dragon Med, Half Shield, Chain are rare items.

 

 

 

A serious announcement such as this would have been properly vetted by Jagex managnment and proof read a couple houndred times before it was posted. I strongy do not believe they would have made the error in calling these items as rares.

I think it would be better to make them untradeable. This would let ppl keep em to look good and to show how long they ahve been playing but would stop prices rising.(its true soon they will be worth... too much in my opinion). Rares have never really interested me. Unless they do something good with your stats (like barrows equipment) then i dont see why they should be worth so much.

Sure, it does give an "unfair" advantage to the old players but well.. Things like this just happen you can't do anything to it.

 

 

 

In an other example think about those old players who trained 99 hp when you got like 20k exp and you actually had to click? Now people get 60k in one hour trainung afk.

This would hurt the economy greatly. I don't like rares, but I don't really care. I can afford them, but they are useless. If Jagex took out all the rares, merchants would have to look for somthing else and that would be like food, flecthing, ores and things like that. It would just rise our prices even more.
