Waterfiends weapon

I'm looking to get some charms at waterfiends and was wondering what the best weapon to use there given that I have maxed attack and strength and only want defense xp. I do not have access to a chaotic maul, but do have a fair cash pile, if need be. I feel like there has to be something better than Verac's flail.

You might as well train dungeoneering first, or could i suggest cannon black demons?

If you however really want to kill waterfiends you should use a Saradomin Sword or Zamorakian Spear.

My lame drops:
6 Effigys
1 D Med - 1 D Dagger
1 Verac's Helmet - 1 Guthan's Platebody

Lol. Torags Hammer is the only other high-ish end weapon I can think of that can train defense using crush attacks. Unless you want the maul.

Honestly, get the maul or give up on training defense at waterfiends is what I recommend.

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.
[spoiler=The rest of my sig. You know you wanna see it.]

my difinition of noob is i dont like u, either u are better then me or u are worst them me

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Sorry, but Verac's flail is pretty much as good as of a weapon you're going to get unless you switch to another style, or get a Chaotic maul. The other good Waterfiend hunting weapons are Zamorakian spear (which uses controlled to crush), Saradomin sword (which uses aggressive to crush), and a Godsword (which also uses aggressive to crush).

You might try Tzhaar-ket-em + Berserker necklace but it's probably only slightly better than Verac's flail. Or just go Dungeoneering until you have a Chaotic maul.

Perhaps you might consider Ancient Staff + Dragon Defender, for a fast crush weapon that can train defence.

It won't be great (+50 strength only) but it's probably a better option than barrow weapons.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

I doubt that using a whip + void set + barrows glove on defense is worse then any of the methods suggested here (with the exception of getting a chaotic maul)

However, getting a maul just to do wfs is probably not a good idea - it's not that good to be such a niche weapon.

However, if you TD a lot or you want to next - it's definitely a great idea.

Those 2 weapons do not train Defence in the Crush attack style. The only other option is V Flail or T Hammers.

Yes I am aware of that, but it serves no purpose using those. Training defense another place then killing waterfiends for charms using controlled/aggressive is faster. I'm just using my logic sense, even though I'm going into Tripsis' grey zone, doesn't mean I'm trolling/flaming whatever they call it.

How?

The only way training defense at another place and then killing waterfiends using a crush weapon on aggressive/controlled if you're training nearly twice as slow as with a verac's flail which is 100% not the case.

The OP is trying to knock out two birds with one stone and so what if he sacrifices a little bit of exp.

The OP has a fair cash pile but he's probably not trying to waste millions on just getting the charms for summoning - so cannoning black demons is not an optimal idea.

MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUL

Or z spear, it gives 1/3 exp to def.

PM me in game anytime

It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet.

That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying.

I'm not entirely opposed to other methods of getting charms and dropping waterfiends altogether, especially since it appears that there really isn't any better weapon in my immediate reach (maul would be nice, but I want to raise summoning a bit before powering dung). I'm also looking to raise mage and ranged, and am willing to spend some cash on them. Between cannoning black demons, chinning nechs, and ice bursting rock lobs, which should I be looking at? I'd appreciate some rough estimates of charms per hour and cost per charm/cost per hour, if there's no one that's clearly better than the others.

summoning is not very important in dung, you'll only need one rager for the team. and only for some bosses, so its fine that you can't use the highest tiered ones yourself. I'd say put in the time and get rapier+maul before doing a considerable amount of anything else, you won't regret it.

I'd say the opportunity cost in terms of charms/h is too high if you were to train with a verac's flail at Waterfiends. Using highly unscientific estimates, I think you are only likely to get about 60-70 charms per hour using Verac's flail, compared to the 95-105 charms per hour using a Zamorakian spear.

I'm unsure on the xp/h at Waterfiends, but I'd say with reasonable certainty that it's not worth sacrificing the time, so I think it would be a better idea for you to simply to use a Zamorakian spear at Waterfiends and do the real training at Armoured Zombies

Max waterfiends xp/hr in melee (Ancient Cavern that is) is around 80k, maybe 85k on task, but generally very little. Black demons are 70k/hr or so, which is even worse, but at least you can just use a whip, and you get 50k ranged xp/hr, more charms than at waterfiends (though more gold, less crim), three or four times the effigies and you lose some money.

I wouldn't recommend bursting much but it's still fairly good magic xp & charms. Barraging is a lot better.

I'd say, finish defence with slayer, finish ranged also with slayer (chinning nechs, cannon etc.), maybe even mage slayer (since you don't have a rapier). But it's much better to get a chaotic rapier first.
