The Closed Beta Launched today and was wondering if anyone else has got a key yet?

 

So far they've only given away 2,000 keys via Facebook and I believe they've all gone as of now but I guess more will be going out over the next few days.

 

I got in to it and am enjoying it so far. It's basically like War of Legends, Civilization and Age of Empires had a baby and there you have 8Realms. Although I guess that's simplifying it a bit.

 

When more keys are released you should give it a go, it definitely has promise and appeals to me a lot more than War of Legends ever did (which I've played about 20 minutes of total, I've already put an hour or two into 8Realms!)

In that case I might not be interested in the game.

 

I mean, in order for a game to be successful, Jagex has to realize that graphics need to be somewhat good due to competition from console games. Not saying that's the reason why I won't be interested in it, but the whole concept of War of Legends never appealed to me.

Well, if you compare War of Legends with games like Call of Duty.... you get what I mean. :P

 

And well I did sign up for the beta but won't know until I get emailed.

Kept trying the Facebook key and it worked on about the 4th try. So far it feels very similar to War of Legends but perhaps that will change a bit once I start to advance through the basics.

I got 8Realms beta email a few weeks ago without registering on their website, but now 5th may when it was released. I never got any further. No beta key, no nothing.

I did later on the 5th register on the website for beta key but no email about it so far.

And the email I got seemed really fake, clicking on any of the links lead you nowhere. But mods confirmed it was legit so oh well...

It's pretty fun! I couldn't find any beta keys except for the Facebook one which didn't work, until I found a key working somewhere: SunTzu

So will there be microtransactions, ads or monthly subscriptions?

I got a beta key, first time I tried it the game froze when I was choosing an empire flag and I have subsequently not been able to load the game at all. :thumbup:

Website is a bit slow, and run into a few issues, but I am liking the game. Construction times take far too long though (6 hours for a level 5 village centre?).

Yeah, the server issues are getting very frustrating especially with the occasional roll backs but I guess that's to be expected in the Beta. Lets hope it's improved soon as the game is a lot of fun, much more than I ever expected it to be (I really didn't like War of Legends so this came as a shock to me).

I played Travian for a bit.. but for me travian seemed to be a good hours work to get stuff set up, go to sleep, wake up and find you've been invaded by 2304798 people and had your village ruined and stuff taken. This is pretty fun (although I can see it will get dull.. 8 hours for an upgrade and I'm on the second out of eight ages >.>)
