Because Mark Zuckerberg is an ass. He does it on purpose and has his sitr word like "If you miss us, come back okay?" Obviously, he designs it to make you return and I don't feel like editing out all the info/deleting albums. At least MySpace was tact/nice enough to wipe everything off since it knows you were serious. Either way, I am glad I don't have to get involved with that site.
