Best possible melee xp/hour? 110k xp an hour.

Ok there is a safe minigame named Troll invasion. The aim of the game is to survive 20 waves of combat with some rather weak trolls... Ok, so wheres the amazing experience?

Their is a table that instantly recovers full hp, a large chunk of prayer and FULL SPECIAL ATTACK. you can use this 5 times... A WAVE. Almost all waves you can finish with 6-10 claw specials, meaning every single hit of yours is a claw special, which are usually 300xp+

All you have to do is click the table, use 2 specials on the nearest enemy (If possible, use tactics, kill dynamite first*, then troll fathers, then wizards, then summoners, then rangers, then troll generals, then regular trolls, then summonings, then troll runts, then half cooked karasomthing)

All you need to do is equip your best equipment and dragon claws. Bring 13 super/extreme strength potions. 13 super/extreme attack potions. Rapier and d defender. Pot whenever you drop down a few levels.

Note that it is possible to do this with DDS or any other special weapon, but dragon claws are the best by far.

*It is very important you attack dynamite as soon as possible, which causes him to explode and do damage in a similar way to the wrath prayer unless you run away, if you ignore him for 10 seconds he will reach the table which you get your specials from and destroy it for the rest of the game. Thankfully he is only on waves 14, 17, 18 and 19. The rest are not as important to do in order, but troll fathers heal the runts and wizards can teleport you to them which gets annoying.

Note that there is a hard mode, which is only 7 waves long. You will not be able to finish off these waves simply with claw specials as they have far more enemies and will have to use rapier/whip for about half of the later waves, but these waves only have 1 dynamite at wave 6 and they come much faster so they may actually be better XP. (In easy mode you start off with just 1-2 trolls and it builds up to about 10, in hard there are about 5 at start and about 15 at the end)

This may be better for higher levels.

Sorry if this sounds a little 'guidey', i wrote a small one on another forum and copy pasted it with some edits instead of typing it all out again.

TL;DR I am getting 85k attack experience here and 28k constitution with supers, less than perfect equipment, piety and 85 attack. I'm guessing 110k melee xp/hour 36k constitution/hour or more is possible with perfection.

I think the fastest possible melee xp works out to 195k or so xp/hour, which is with ovls, rapier, turm, etc. Plus it involves never missing an attack or losing an attack turn.

That said, I don't think this is the best possible method.

Well, perfect Dharoking (100% accuracy etc.) would be around 612 damage per 7 ticks, which gets you 209828 xp/hr excluding familiar xp, and assuming .4 xp per damage.

Perfect rapiering would be around 338 damage per 4 ticks or some 202800 xp/hr.

Naturally Dharok's has much higher overkill, but it's not much less accurate than void. It's just a lot less convenient to use with overloads due to the lp loss required.

Of course, multiply accuracy (80-90%) and imperfect spawns/human error (90%?) and overkill (idk how much, but there aren't many multicombat undead with 1300+ lp) into this max xp rate and you get rates of around 150k/hr.

Well sure, in theory you can get 200k experience an hour with rapier, but does anyone actually come close to that? I personally struggle to get 40k/hour on the average slayer task, 60k an hour on something that gives good experience.

Perhaps i was a little too harsh on this method's possibilities as i was far from perfect in my runs, you can essentially complete the entire minigame with nothing but claw specials, with some time added for the small cutscenes and walking to and from enemies and the occasional rapier hit on long waves with poor specials. Overkill isn't much of an issue due to the way claw specials operate. I think if you calculated the theoretical experience rate of this at max efficiency it would blow everything else away.

You only get to do this once a month, and the monsters are very much more spread compared to the other high xp training spots. Further, overkill is overkill, despite how claw specials work. If your max claw special is 700LP, and you hit that on a 500LP troll, it doesn't matter that only your first 3 specials go off. It's still overkill.

You can actually keep "practicing" over and over and over.

Oh yeah, whoops. That completely slipped my mind.

Nonetheless, this D&D suffers from really low monster density, even on hard mode. If you're relying on using your claw special 100% of the time, that's simply unfeasible, due to the many trolls that engage you from long ranges. That alone would severely hamper the rate of clawing.

Claw specials without missing any hits are around 460 damage per special, or 276000 xp/hr. So if you could spec over and over, it'd be great xp. However, as Gwyn said, you can't get all hits in. It takes several seconds for the new wave to spawn and at (at most) 12 claw specials (28,8 seconds + lost time) per wave that means around 10% of your time is spent waiting. Not to mention that within a wave, a poorly cooked karamban will wander up the guarded passage which will take several seconds to be attacked. Wizards occasionally freeze you as well, reducing your time spent attacking. Etcetera etcetera.

As someone else pointed out, you can 'practice' which is just the exact same game without an xp book at the end.

Everything said after this was a valid point but i'd just like to point out that claw speicals do have less of an overkill problem, if a troll has 400 hp and you hit what would be a 400-200-100-100, you still get the xp for a 800 hit. Of course there are times where this doesn't work as nicely as that, but it's still less than other weapons.

Would the fastest possible xp not consist of hiring a huge number of people to constantly spec transfer to you on castle wars, and paying the other team to heal other?

A money pouch would be cool. So would a remote price checker. But honestly I'm thinking an insta-Jcoins-market. LOW ON PRAYER AND DONT LIKE XP WASTE?! BUY AN ULTRA PRAYER RESTORE POTION INSTANTLY FOR JUST 75 CENTS! STAY AT BANDOS ALL DAY/AS LONG YOU HAVE MONEY!

Erm there's been thinking about using dragon 2h specials or similar effects but one player gets a full special bar every 500 ticks and you can empty it in about 8 ticks with claw specials, 2 ticks with granite maul specials or 7 ticks with dragon 2h. So even using the least special drain of these three you're going to need 63 people casting spec transfer on you and perfectly coordinated, so probably more like 70-80.

If your opponent can cast special transfer on you, then yes. But I'm not sure that's possible in Castle Wars. If it is, you should be able to do it with just 10 people :P.

I believe 15 people with dragon 2hs in a Fighting ring dding and then specing is/was great exp since you die and restore special bar + hit everyone else.

The problem with these calculations it that they are not feasible for a long period of time as the set up is really hard to maintain specially for the castle wars methods.

So in you are trying to get a high xp/h with a small sample it may be possible, but in the long run that rate wont be maintained and it will lower. So in comparison the traditional methods would be more effective in the long run.

can get 300kish defence xp per hr with long range chins and iron titan :L

Would that be faster than defensive casting ice barrge with iron titan?

I think longrange chinning = slower attack rate (not 100% sure)

If that's true then i believe defensive casting would be faster because it has the same speed.

Longrange chinning is the same speed as magic, but magic only provides .2 xp per damage and ranged .4, of which half would go to defence.
